    • Another monster performance
Walker went 2-for-3 with two homers, three RBI and three runs scored in Thursday's win over the Dodgers while also drawing two walks.

Advice: Walker was at it again Thursday, going back-to-back with Joc Pederson in the opening frame for the first baseman's first home run of the contest before then smacking a two-run shot in his next at-bat. The 33-year-old has now clubbed two home runs in back-to-back games and has gone deep in three consecutive games overall. Furthermore, Thursday marked his fourth straight game with multiple RBI and his fifth straight game with multiple hits. Over that latter stretch Walker's batting .650 (13-for-20) with five homers, 11 RBI and eight runs scored. Rotowire.com Today, 7:35 am
    • Moves to leadoff
Smith batted leadoff and went 2-for-4 in Thursday's 3-1 loss to San Diego.

Advice: Smith was moved up to leadoff, as a slumping Marcus Semien was given a rare day off. Smith continues to be a surprise and leads the Rangers with a 2.7 WAR. He should continue to see regular work at third base with Josh Jung (wrist) not expected to return until after the All-Star break. Rotowire.com Today, 6:22 am

    • Steals base in loss
Garcia went 0-for-3 with a walk and a steal in Thursday's 3-1 loss to the Padres.

Advice: Garcia stole his seventh bag of the season in fourth inning then was thrown out at home trying to score on Leody Taveras' single. Garcia, who stole 25 bases (31 attempts) in 2022, is an occasional base stealer these days. He was successful on nine of 10 attempts last year and seven of nine thus far in 2024. Thursday's walk extended Garcia's on-base streak to 14 games (.350 OBP). Rotowire.com Today, 6:15 am

    • Collects two thefts Thursday
Hamilton went 1-for-5 with a walk, an RBI, two runs and two stolen bases against the Marlins in Thursday's 6-5 extra-innings victory.

Advice: Hamilton scored Boston's first two runs of the contest, then collected a go-ahead RBI on a groundout in the 12th frame. The infielder also recorded two swipes of third base, moving him up to fourth in MLB with 23 stolen bases (on 24 attempts) for the season. Though Hamilton has seen his playing time dry up a bit of late, he has continued to produce fairly well. Despite hitting just .200 over his past 35 at-bats, he's recorded a home run, five RBI, eight runs and nine stolen bases during that stretch. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:09 pm

    • Christian Walker homers twice again versus Dodgers
Christian Walker hit two more homers and walked twice Thursday as the Diamondbacks dominated the Dodgers 9-3.

Advice: Walker also homered twice Thursday. He has nine homers in nine games against the Dodgers this season, compared to 12 in 78 games against everyone else. With his OPS having climbed from .780 on Friday to .871 now, he’d seem to have a pretty good shot of finally landing his first All-Star berth. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:29 pm
    • Posts quality start
Lively (8-4) picked up the win Thursday against the White Sox, allowing three runs on six hits and one walk over six innings. He struck out six.

Advice: Lively nabbed his second consecutive quality start - his fifth of 2024 - and generated his most punchouts since May 20. The 32-year-old was tagged by Paul DeJong for a two-run homer in the sixth inning but was otherwise excellent. Through 77.1 innings, Lively owns a 3.14 ERA and a 67:22 K:BB. He's on pace to make his next start against the Tigers in Detroit. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:14 pm

    • Takes fifth loss
Morton (5-5) allowed four runs (three earned) on five hits and two walks while striking out five over 5.1 innings to take the loss versus the Giants on Thursday.

Advice: Morton continues to alternated between good and bad starts, with this one being not particularly sharp. He threw 54 of 94 pitches for strikes and served up home runs to Heliot Ramos and Matt Chapman in the fourth inning. This was the first time all year Morton has been taken deep multiple times in a start. He's been generally effective with a 3.96 ERA despite a 1.25 WHIP and 92:38 K:BB over 91 innings across 16 starts. The veteran right-hander is projected to make his next start at Arizona. • Morton allows three earned runs in loss Thursday
Charlie Morton allowed four runs (three earned) in 5 1/3 innings and took the loss against the Giants on Thursday.

Advice: Morton gave up five hits, walked two and struck out five. He had won two of his last three starts. Morton gave up a two-run home run to Heliot Ramos and a solo home run to Matt Chapman in the third inning. In the sixth inning, Chapman got him again for an RBI double. Morton has a 3.96 ERA and 92 strikeouts in 91 innings this season. The 40-year-old right-hander is set to face the Diamondbacks on the road next week.

    • Won't return when first eligible
Muncy (oblique) is still experiencing soreness and will not return when first eligible during the All-Star break, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Muncy is still swinging off a tee, but manager Dave Roberts described his progress as slow. He's first eligible to be activated during the All-Star break, which runs July 15-19, though it sounds as though his absence will extend into August. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:46 pm
