    • Jeimer Candelario homers in win over Brewers
Jeimer Candelario delivered a two-run homer and a double Friday as the Reds edged the Brewers 6-5.

Advice: Not a bad followup to his two-homer game Wednesday. Candelario has 12 homers, eight of which have come in his last 19 games. Those who weighed dropping him a few weeks ago have been rewarded for their patience. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:25 pm

    • Anthony Santander smashes game-tying homer
Anthony Santander went 2-for-5 with a solo home run against the Phillies on Friday.

Advice: Santander’s eighth inning home run was the first Matt Strahm has allowed all season and just the first run he’s allowed at all since opening day. Then Santander put one to the warning track in the 10th inning which nearly won the game for Baltimore. Also, his first inning single was smoked 114.4 MPH - the hardest he’s ever hit a ball in his career. That’s a great sign for the power hitting switch-hitter moving forward. • Kyle Bradish solid across five innings
Kyle Bradish allowed two earned runs via solo homers in five innings on Friday in a loss to the Phillies. He struck out four and walked one.

Advice: Bradish hadn’t given up a home run all season before Friday, but the Phillies put two in the seats for their only two runs. Still, Bradish was mostly in control with a heavy diet of sinkers to supplement his excellent slider and curveball. He left the game with 74 pitches one inning shy of qualifying for a quality start. • Dealing with elbow problems
Bradish reported having issues with his right elbow after the fifth inning of Friday's game against the Phillies, Andy Kostka of TheBaltimoreBanner.com reports.

Advice: Manager Brandon Hyde said after the game that Bradish will undergo tests on his elbow to determine the cause of the issue. The 27-year-old missed the first month of the season after suffering a UCL sprain during spring training, so it makes sense why the Orioles are being cautious with him. He's lined up to pitch again next Friday against the Astros, but his chances of making his next start will likely depend on the results of his tests. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:46 pm

    • Tarik Skubal gives up four runs in loss to Astros
Tarik Skubal struggled in Friday night’s loss to the Astros, giving up four runs on six hits over his 6 1/3 innings of work.

Advice: Skubal recorded only two strikeouts in the ballgame while allowing one base on balls. He kept the Astros’ offense completely off the board and was engaged in a scoreless pitcher’s duel heading to the sixth inning. They broke through there though, as Jose Altuve doubled, Alex Bregman smacked an RBI triple, Yordan Alvarez followed with a sacrifice fly and Mauricio Dubon tacked on a two-run homer. Skubal got 13 swings and misses on just 84 pitches on the night, posting a CSW of 24 percent. Now 8-2 on the season, he’ll carry a pristine 2.20 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and a 98/16 K/BB ratio (86 innings) into Wednesday’s matchup against the Braves in Atlanta. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:09 pm
    • Mediocre in loss
Skubal (8-2) took the loss Friday in Houston, allowing four runs on six hits and one walk over 6.1 innings. He struck out two.

Advice: Skubal struggled in his appearance, failing to produce a quality start for just the fourth time in 14 outings this season. After completing five scoreless innings, the Tigers lefty allowed all four runs in the sixth, capped with a Mauricio Dubon two-run homer. In 86 innings this year, Skubal now sports a 2.20 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 98:16 K:BB. The 27-year-old is currently scheduled to make his next start against Atlanta on the road. • Batting seventh in return
Ortiz (hamstring) is playing third base and batting seventh Friday against the Reds.

Advice: Ortiz missed a pair of contests with a sore right hamstring, but he's back in the Brewers' lineup following the team's day off. In 12 games before sustaining the injury, Ortiz went 14-for-43 (.326) with seven runs, five RBI and three stolen bases. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:28 pm

    • Taking seat against lefty
O'Hearn is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Phillies, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Advice: O'Hearn will avoid a matchup against southpaw Ranger Suarez on Friday, as Adley Rutschman fills in at DH and James McCann catches. O'Hearn is just 1-for-11 against lefties in 2024 and all nine of his home runs have come against right-handed pitching. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:03 pm

    • Racks up 13 strikeouts Thursday
Crochet allowed one run on two hits and two walks while striking out 13 batters over seven innings in a no-decision against Seattle on Thursday.

Advice: Crochet was absolutely dominant in the outing, inducing 24 swinging strikes and finishing with a career-high 13 punchouts. The only run against the southpaw came via Tyler Locklear's first career homer in the fifth inning, and Crochet was in line for the victory before Michael Kopech blew a save opportunity in the ninth. Despite a few rough starts in April, Crochet has been a revelation for the White Sox and for fantasy managers this season. Over his past nine starts, he's recorded a 1.36 ERA, 0.74 WHIP and 76:11 K:BB over 53 innings. Crochet is tied with Tyler Glasnow for the major-league lead with 116 punchouts on the campaign.
