    • Yet to resume activity
Jones (back/knee) has yet to resume baseball activity, MLB.com reports.

Advice: Manager Bud Black shared the update Friday, saying Jones had resumed running but has yet to swing a bat. He described that activity as being "a handful of days away." That leaves Jones' timeline to return murky, though it seems unlikely he'll be activated before June. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:54 pm

    • Seth Lugo defeats Rays to improve to 8-1
Seth Lugo delivered another dominant performance in Friday night’s victory over the Rays, surrendering just one run on four hits over seven strong frames.

Advice: Lugo punched out three batters on the evening while issuing a pair of walks. The lone tally against him came on a fielder’s choice off the bat of Jonathan Aranda in the opening inning. After that, he was brilliant. The 34-year-old right-hander generated eight swings and misses on 104 pitches on the night, posting a CSW of 19 percent. Now 8-1 on the season, he’ll carry a stellar 1.74 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and a 61/15 K/BB ratio (72 1/3 innings) into Wednesday’s matchup against the Twins in Minnesota. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:24 pm
    • Austin Riley (side) takes batting practice Friday
Austin Riley (side) took batting practice on the field prior to Friday’s game without any issues.

Advice: The 27-year-old slugger is not in the Braves’ lineup on Friday night — the 11th consecutive game that he has missed due to a sore side. He continues to make progress though, and it’s possible he could be available off the bench at some point over the weekend. He’s tentatively expected to return to the lineup on Monday against the Nationals. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:39 pm

    • Likely to return Monday
Atlanta manager Brian Snitker noted Friday that Riley (side) is likely to remain out until Monday's series opener against the Nationals, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Riley has been sidelined due a left intercostal strain he sustained May 12 against the Mets. Despite the length of the injury, Atlanta did not place the 27-year-old third baseman on the 10-day IL, but Riley appears ready to return to the lineup following the weekend series against the Pirates. Prior to his injury, Riley was slashing .245/.319/.388 with eight doubles, three home runs and 18 RBI over 163 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:11 pm

    • Not in Friday's lineup
Lowe (side) is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Royals.

Advice: The 26-year-old departed Wednesday's contest with a right side strain and was sent for an MRI on Thursday, the results of which remain unknown. Lowe will sit for at least one game and should be considered day-to-day until more information is available. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:19 pm

    • Lowe (side) out of lineup Friday
Josh Lowe (side) is out of the Rays’ lineup for Friday’s game against the Royals.

Advice: Lowe left Wednesday’s game against the Red Sox with right side tightness and was subsequently sent for an MRI. The Rays probably wouldn’t have submitted their lineup already if Lowe was being placed on the injured list today. For now, no update on Lowe’s status is potentially a good update. • Still not starting
Riley (side) is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Pirates, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Advice: Riley will miss an 11th consecutive start Friday with a left intercostal strain. Despite the lengthy absence, it seems Riley is close to returning after swinging a bat Tuesday. Zack Short will start at third and bat ninth Friday. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:03 pm

    • Riley (side) out for 11th straight game
Austin Riley (side) remained out of the Braves’ lineup for Friday’s game against the Pirates.

Advice: Riley resumed hitting earlier this week and was seen fielding ground balls before Thursday’s game yet he remains out for the 11th consecutive game despite incomprehensibly not being placed on the injured list. It’s unclear when the third baseman will return to Atlanta’s lineup, but it should be soon. Rotoworld Yesterday, 12:02 pm

    • Plays nine innings Thursday
Thomas (knee) went 1-for-4 with two strikeouts for Double-A Harrisburg on Thursday while playing all nine innings in right field.

Advice: It's the first time in three rehab games that Thomas has played a full nine innings. The 28-year-old is 2-for-9 at the plate in those three contests with a double and a stolen base, and per Mark Zuckerman of MASN Sports, the Nationals are considering whether to activate him Friday or leave him on his rehab assignment for another couple days to get his timing back at the plate. When Thomas does come off the IL, however, he should immediately slot back into the starting lineup in right field for Washington. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:54 am
