    • James Paxton goes seven strong to win at Coors
James Paxton limited the Rockies to one run and two hits in seven innings to win at Coors Field on Monday.

Advice: It’s difficult to predict Paxton’s performances this season. He looked done 10 days ago after giving up seven runs and getting pulled in the second versus the Pirates, but he’s since bounced back by allowing two runs and four hits in 13 innings in his last two starts. The Yoshinobu Yamamoto injury took the idea of stashing Paxton on the IL off the board for the Dodgers. He still doesn’t seem like a great bet at this point, but he is a streaming option while pitching for one of baseball’s best teams. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:08 pm
    • Cal Quantrill surrenders three runs in loss
Cal Quantrill lost to the Dodgers after allowing three runs in five innings on Monday.

Advice: This could and probably should have been worse, given that Quantrill allowed seven hits and walked three, but it goes as a pretty routine loss. Quantrill dropped to 6-5 with a 3.43 ERA. The sooner the Rockies trade him, the better the return will be. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:08 pm
    • Miguel Rojas goes 3-for-5 in Dodgers’ victory
Miguel Rojas went 3-for-5 with a double and two runs scored against the Rockies on Monday.

Advice: Sure, Jazz Chisholm Jr. doesn’t seem to like him, but how badly did the Marlins botch things by trading Rojas for a prospect they didn’t even want a year and a half ago? Rojas is batting .292/.339/.460 in 121 plate appearances this season, and he’ll serve as the Dodgers’ primary shortstop while Mookie Betts is out. Meanwhile, the Marlins continue to roll with Tim Anderson, who might be the very worst player in the league. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:08 pm

    • Ramos belts ninth home run against Cubs Monday
Heliot Ramos went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in the Giants’ 7-6 victory over the Cubs on Monday.

Advice: Ramos’ home run was his ninth of the season. He’s now homered in three of his last four games and has four consecutive games with at least two hits. Ramos has taken the league by storm with a .328 average and .981 OPS in 36 games with the Giants this year. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:32 pm
    • Set to start Monday
Plesac will draw the start Monday versus the Brewers.

Advice: Plesac will replace Jose Soriano (abdomen) on the mound after Soriano was a late scratch with lower abdominal pain Monday. Plesac had his contract selected by Los Angeles on Monday and he'll now get his first chance to start a major-league contest in 2024. The right-hander has produced a 5.42 ERA and 1.43 WHIP with 51 strikeouts over 74.2 innings in 13 starts with Triple-A Salt Lake this season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:30 pm

    • Angels bring Zach Plesac back to majors
Angels selected the contract of RHP Zach Plesac from Triple-A Salt Lake.

Advice: Plesac’s 5.42 ERA and 51/26 K/BB ratio in 74 2/3 innings for Salt Lake don’t bode well for a successful return to the majors here. Still, he can eat innings, and the Angels might have some need for that this week. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:48 pm

    • Contract selected by Halos
The Angels selected the contract of Plesac on Monday.

Advice: After being designated for assignment by the Angels on April 8, Plesac stayed with the organization in Triple-A after passing through waivers. Across 13 starts with Triple-A Salt Lake, Plesac holds a 3-7 record with a 5.42 ERA and 1.43 WHIP. However, over his last two starts, he's given up two runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out 11 over 15.1 innings. With Chase Silseth (elbow) close to returning from the 60-day IL, Plesac will likely operate out of the Angels' bullpen after right-hander Jose Suarez was designated for assignment in a corresponding move. • Moves into leadoff spot sans Betts
Ohtani will start at designated hitter and bat leadoff in Monday's game in Colorado.

Advice: In the Dodgers' first game without Mookie Betts (hand), Ohtani slides up one spot in the order and will be followed by Will Smith, who moves from cleanup to the two hole. Ohtani also hit leadoff once back on May 18 when Betts had a day off. It's the only two times this season that he hasn't hit second. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:15 pm

    • Drawing another start
Rodriguez is scheduled to start Monday's game against the Angels in Anaheim, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Advice: The 22-year-old righty will get another turn through the rotation despite underwhelming in his MLB debut versus Toronto this past Tuesday, when he struck out four over 3.2 innings while giving up two runs on seven hits and one walk. Rodriguez showed the ability to make bats miss at every stop of the minors, but control remains a concern for the youngster. Even though he issued just one walk in his debut, he wasn't particularly efficient, as he needed 71 pitches to record 10 outs and threw just 43 strikes. Rodriguez would bolster his case for sticking around with the big club if he pitches well Monday, but Jakob Junis' (shoulder) impending return from the 60-day injured list might make Rodriguez expendable if he struggles against the Angels.
