    • Corbin Carroll dropped to eighth in lineup
      The Diamondbacks have Corbin Carroll batting eighth tonight against Giants left-hander Erik Miller.

      Advice: Gabriel Moreno is batting second in his place. This might just be a special-occasion switch, since Miller is being looked at as an opener and dropping Carroll means he might not bat until righty Spencer Howard enters the game. The Diamondbacks typically dropped Carroll in the lineup against lefties last year, but that hasn’t been the case this season; he’s hit first or second against both lefties and righties, aside for a 10-game span in late April and early May in which he was dropped to the bottom of the order versus everyone. Arizona faces a lefty again tomorrow, so unless Torey Lovullo comments, we’ll have to wait and see whether this is a one-time thing, a change versus lefties or a semi-permanent move.       Santander went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, a walk and two total runs scored in Saturday's 9-5 win over the Rays.

      Advice: Santander has started to look more like himself, going 9-for-32 (.281) with three homers over his last nine contests. For the year, he's slashing .218/.300/.440 with 10 homers, 30 RBI, 29 runs scored, 11 doubles, one triple and no stolen bases. Santander has been plagued by a .224 BABIP this year, so it's no surprise his overall numbers are down, but it's a reason for optimism that he'll be able to turn things around.       Greene went 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI in Saturday's 6-3 loss to the Red Sox.

      Advice: That's consecutive two-hit games for Greene, who has his batting average up to .244. While that's a dip from the .288 figure he recorded last season, he's sitting with an identical .796 OPS so far thanks to an early power surge. Greene has blasted 10 home runs across 57 games after going deep only 11 times in 99 games last year.       Anthony Santander went 2-for-3 with a home run, two runs scored, and a walk against the Rays on Saturday.

      Advice: Santander followed Ryan Mountcastle’s homer in the first inning with his own solo blast to extend the lead. He then drew a walk in the third before scoring on a double by Kyle Stowers.       Greene went 2-for-4 with a walk, a double, a run scored and a stolen base in Friday's 7-3 loss to the Red Sox.

      Advice: Getting the start in center field and batting second, Greene was the only Tiger to record multiple hits on the night. The 23-year-old has reached base eight times in the last four games, and on the season he's slashing .239/.343/.449 with 10 homers, two steals, 22 RBI and 37 runs through 56 contests.       Greene went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and a walk Thursday in a 5-0 victory versus the Red Sox.

      Advice: Greene launched a two-run shot in the eighth inning to double Detroit's lead. The long ball snapped a 19-game homer drought that extended back to May 6.       Riley Greene homered and walked in a victory over the Red Sox on Thursday.

      Advice: That was the first homer for Greene since May 6. It was a two-run shot off Chris Martin that doubled the Tigers’ lead to 4-0. After a great April the 23-year-old has scuffled considerably in May, but there’s no denying that Greene has the talent to be an upper-echelon fantasy contributor. Rotoworld Thursday, 7:02 pm

      Greene went 2-for-7 with a walk, a double and two runs scored in Wednesday's doubleheader against the Pirates.

      Advice: Greene did most of his damage in the first game, when he went 2-for-4 with both of his runs, then cooled down against Paul Skenes and the Pittsburgh bullpen in the nightcap. That's a microcosm of the outfielder's season, as he was batting .257 with a .911 OPS through the end of April, but he's batting just .204 with a .590 OPS this month.     • Corbin Carroll tallies three hits in losing effort
      Corbin Carroll went 3-for-5 with a double on Wednesday in the Diamondbacks’ loss at the hands of the Rangers.

      Advice: It’s been an unexpected struggle this season for Carroll as Wednesday’s three-hit effort was his first of the year and just his ninth multi-hit performance through 52 games. To put that in context, he recorded 47 games last year with at least two hits across 155 contests. The 23-year-old holds a calamitous .567 OPS with two homers and nine steals so far, and the lack of consistent hard contact across his quality of contact metrics doesn’t inspire a ton of confidence that he’ll eventually turn things around as the season progresses. It’s possible he’s been playing through a lingering shoulder issue, because it’s difficult to explain what exactly is going on otherwise.
