      Yandy Díaz came through with a tie-breaking RBI single in the eighth inning on Monday, propelling the Rays to a 4-3 comeback victory over the Mariners.

      Advice: Díaz capped off Tampa Bay’s late-inning rally by chopping a go-ahead run-scoring single into right field off Seattle closer Andrés Muñoz. The 32-year-old on-base machine has heated up at the dish of late, notching multi-hit performances in five of his last six games since June 19.       Alec Burleson went 2-for-3 with a double, a run scored and an RBI against the Braves on Monday.

      Advice: Burleson started the scoring with an RBI double in the third inning off Braves starter Spencer Schwellenbach. He’s had at least two hits in four consecutive games and five of his last six games. He’s 11-for-24 (.458) with 10 runs scored, three home runs, nine RBI and a double over his last six games.     • Oneil Cruz homers, drives in three in losing effort
      Oneil Cruz went 2-for-5 with a two-run homer and three RBI on Monday in the Pirates’ lopsided defeat at the hands of the Reds.

      Advice: Cruz was one of the few bright spots for Pittsburgh in this one as he drove in a run with a fifth-inning ground out before slugging a gargantuan 458-foot moonshot — his 11th big fly of the season — a couple frames later off Reds reliever Fernando Cruz. The 25-year-old shortstop has been scuffling at the dish in recent weeks, batting .216 (25-for-116) with four homers and three steals over his last 30 games. He’s also struck out a whopping 40 times during that span. The flashes of dynamic game-changing talent are still there on occasion, but Cruz remains a bit of a work in progress at the moment.       Starling Marte has been told to rest for 15 days because of bone inflammation in his right knee.

      Advice: Marte will surely go on the injured list Tuesday. That could lead to Brett Baty’s recall, but if the Mets would prefer to have both he and Mark Vientos keep playing every day, they do have an open spot on the 40-man to add an outfielder, probably Ben Gamel or Trayce Thompson.       Marte was advised Monday to rest for the next 15 days after being diagnosed with bone inflammation in his right knee, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.

      Advice: Marte was sent for an MRI on Monday after experiencing soreness in his right knee, and while the team has yet to confirm that he'll be placed on the injured list, that transaction will likely be made Tuesday. After stealing just two bases in his first 67 games, Burleson has swiped three in the past two contests and took second base on both of his hits.
