    • Quality start against O's
Suarez came away with a no-decision in Friday's 5-3 extra-innings win over the Orioles, allowing one run on six hits and two walks over 6.2 innings. He struck out six.

Advice: The southpaw delivered his ninth quality start of the season on 88 pitches (57 strikes), but Suarez was denied his 11th win in a wild affair that saw half the game's runs cross the plate after the ninth inning. Since his nine-start win streak ended in late May, the 28-year-old has posted a 3.10 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 23:7 K:BB through 20.1 innings over four outings. Suarez's next scheduled trip to the mound is a home tilt next week against the Padres. Rotowire.com 25 minutes ago
    • Everson Pereira undergoes Tommy John surgery
Yankees OF prospect Everson Pereira underwent season-ending Tommy John surgery earlier this month.

Advice: Pereira got into 27 contests last year for New York and will wind up missing the remainder of the 2024 campaign. The 23-year-old prospect attempted to play through the issue before ultimately electing to have season-ending surgery. He should be a full-go by the time spring training rolls around. • Heating up
Candelario went 2-for-5 with a double, a home run and two RBI in Friday's 6-5 win over the Brewers.

Advice: Candelario belted a two-run home run in the fifth inning to help the Reds overcome a sloppy day in the field (five errors) and on the mound (eight walks). The home run was his third in the last two games and sixth during the month of June. After an inconsistent first two months, Candelario's bat is heating up this month. He's batting .346 (18-for-52) with nine extra-base hits, 13 RBI, two steals and eight runs over 12 contests. Rotowire.com 48 minutes ago
    • Mariners outright Matt Bowman to Triple-A
Mariners sent RHP Matt Bowman outright to Triple-A Tacoma.

Advice: It wouldn’t be shocking to see Bowman test the free agent waters after passing through waivers unclaimed. The 33-year-old journeyman reliever has made appearances this season for the Mariners, Twins and Diamondbacks already. Rotoworld 50 minutes ago

    • Red Sox release first baseman Garrett Cooper
Red Sox released 1B Garrett Cooper.

Advice: Cooper went unclaimed on waivers after posting a .455 OPS with zero homers and five RBI across 75 plate appearances in 24 contests for the Red Sox after being acquired back in late April from the Cubs in a small trade. The 33-year-old first baseman should be able to latch on somewhere else, but will probably have to settle for a minor league contract. Rotoworld 52 minutes ago

    • Rangers re-sign Derek Hill to minor league pact
Rangers re-signed OF Derek Hill to a minor league contract.

Advice: Hill is back in the fold with the Rangers as extra outfield depth just a handful of days after electing free agency following his removal from the club’s 40-man roster. The 28-year-old speedster got into five games for Texas earlier this year, going 2-for-9 with one stolen base. Rotoworld 55 minutes ago

    • Jack Flaherty starting Saturday against Astros
Jack Flaherty (back) will start on Saturday against the Astros.

Advice: As expected, Flaherty will take the ball this weekend against Houston’s high-powered offense after receiving a couple extra days of rest to address a back issue that cropped up during his previous start on June 4 against the Rangers. The 28-year-old righty has been magnificent this season in his Tigers debut and will aim to keep things rolling in this one. Rotoworld 59 minutes ago

    • Slugs key homer
Suwinski went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and a walk Friday against the Rockies.

Advice: Suwinski went yard in the seventh inning to give the Pirates a couple insurance runs. It was his second home run in eight games since returning from Triple-A Indianapolis, though he's gone just 4-for-24 with a 48.4 percent strikeout rate in that span. Despite those struggles, Suwinski remains the primary center fielder and has started eight of Pittsburgh's last 10 games. Rotowire.com Today, 6:17 am
    • Trevor Richards starting Saturday vs. Guardians
Trevor Richards will start on Saturday against the Guardians.

Advice: Richards will take the ball to open a bullpen game for Toronto on Saturday afternoon at the Rogers Centre. The 31-year-old righty holds a respectable 3.31 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 33/15 K/BB ratio across 32 2/3 innings (29 appearances, one start) this season for Toronto. There’s zero streaming appeal here for fantasy managers since he’s unlikely to work more than an inning or two as an opener. Rotoworld Today, 6:16 am
