    • MJ Melendez homers, drives in four in comeback win
MJ Melendez hit a two-run homer and drove home four runs in a victory over the Mariners on Friday.

Advice: Melendez got the Royals back into the game with a three-run blast off Bryce Miller to turn an 8-1 deficit into an 8-4 game. He drove in another run in the sixth on a fielder’s choice. Melendez has been a major disappointment with a slash of .167/.233/.339, but the 25-year-old is far from bereft of offensive talent. Expect better things over the final 90-plus contests. • Teoscar Hernández delivers in 11th in Dodgers’ win
Teoscar Hernández went 2-for-4 and doubled in two runs in the 11th to propel the Dodgers past the Yankees 2-1 on Friday.

Advice: It was a scoreless game until Hernández delivered the contest’s first big hit off Ian Hamilton in the 11th. It actually gave him his first multi-RBI game since May 14. He was often leading the league in RBI for the first month and a half, but he came into this one having driven in a total of three runs in last 20 games. Rotoworld 36 minutes ago
    • Gavin Lux finishes 0-for-5 against Yankees
Gavin Lux finished 0-for-5 against the Yankees on Friday.

Advice: Lux wasn’t too bad from late April through the end of May, but he is 2-for-17 this month, leaving him at .204/.257/.281 overall. If things don’t turn around, the Dodgers will have to think about going with Miguel Rojas at short and Mookie Betts at second after Max Muncy is back. Really, they could just make the change now by calling up Andre Lipcius to play third. Rotoworld 36 minutes ago

    • Dealing with oblique tightness
Suzuki said after Friday's game versus the Reds that he asked to be removed in the sixth inning after feeling tightness in his oblique, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Advice: Suzuki was hit in the side by a throw while stealing a base in the first inning, and he was checked on by trainers after appearing uncomfortable at the plate in the fifth frame. He later was replaced in right field by Mike Tauchman -- a precautionary move given Suzuki's recent history with oblique injuries. The Cubs haven't run any tests on the 29-year-old's oblique, so an update on his status will likely have to wait until before Saturday's contest. Rotowire.com 37 minutes ago

    • Boone: Soto ‘wasn’t an option’ Friday vs. Dodgers
Yankees manager Aaron Boone told reporters after Friday’s extra-innings loss to the Dodgers that Juan Soto (forearm) wasn’t available.

Advice: Soto left Thursday’s game with inflammation in his forearm, and there was some speculation that the outfielder could be available off the bench for Friday’s contest. Several possibilities passed where Soto could have entered, but Boone kept the outfielder on the bench. It’s possible that the slugger could return over the weekend, but the Yankees aren’t going to rush the superstar back. Rotoworld 47 minutes ago

    • Suzuki felt oblique tighten before leaving Friday
Seiya Suzuki left Friday’s game as a precaution due to tightness in his oblique.

Advice: Suzuki has dealt with oblique strains in the past and missed time in 2024 due to one, so the Cubs decided to be as careful as possible when he felt it tighten after being hit in the side. For now the outfielder should be considered day-to-day, but any type of tightness felt over the weekend will likely have the 29-year-old sitting. Rotoworld 51 minutes ago

    • Knocks three hits
De La Cruz went 3-for-4 with a solo home run and a double in Friday's win over Cleveland.

Advice: De La Cruz put the Marlins on the board with his solo shot in the third inning and later smacked another extra-base hit. He's gone deep 11 times this season, though just two of those have come in his last 17 contests. He's slashing .252/.306/.427 with 21 extra-base hits and 28 RBI through 268 plate appearances this season. Rotowire.com 55 minutes ago

    • Ozuna smacks two doubles in loss Friday
Marcell Ozuna went 2-for-4 with a run scored and two doubles against the Nationals on Friday.

Advice: On a night when the Braves offense had only four hits against Nationals starter Jake Irvin, Ozuna managed to double off Irvin twice. Ozuna is up to .316 on the season and could be in competition with Shohei Ohtani for the triple crown in the National League if he keeps this up. Rotoworld Today, 7:16 pm

    • Bryan De La Cruz homers, doubles in Marlins’ win
Bryan De La Cruz went 3-for-4 with a homer and a double Friday to lead the Marlins to a 3-2 win over the Guardians.

Advice: De La Cruz’s hits all left his bat at over 102 mph. He’s batting .252/.306/.427 for the season, which is certainly good enough to keep him in the Marlins lineup but isn’t great for someone who has turned out to be a pretty bad left fielder (he’s currently DHing about two-thirds of the time). One imagines he’ll be one of the many Miami players available in trade talks next month. Rotoworld Today, 7:13 pm
