      Gurriel went 1-for-2 with a solo home run in Friday's 10-3 loss to the Padres.

      Advice: Gurriel has hit safely in nine of his last 11 games, going 10-for-37 (.270) with three homers in that span. He didn't start Friday, but he entered as a pinch hitter in the seventh inning and delivered with his ninth long ball of the campaign.       King (5-4) allowed four hits and one walk while striking out five over five scoreless innings to earn the win Friday over the Diamondbacks.

      Advice: King wasn't all that efficient, needing 98 pitches (63 strikes) to get through five games, but that's the only knock on his performance. He's been excellent over his last three starts, allowing just two runs on 11 hits and four walks with 16 strikeouts over his last 17 innings. King is at a 3.58 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 83:32 K:BB through 78 innings across 14 appearances (13 starts).       Aaron Civale allowed four runs in five innings and took the loss against the Orioles on Friday.



      Advice: Civale gave up seven hits, walked one and struck out eight. He’s won just two of his 13 starts this year. Tampa Bay acquired Civale last year and he had a 5.36 ERA in 10 starts. In 13 starts this year, his ERA is 5.91. If the Rays of all teams can’t fix him, I don’t know if any team can. The 28-year-old right-hander is set to face the Cubs at home next week.       Nick Lodolo held the Cubs to one run in six innings and struck out seven in the Reds’ 3-2 victory Friday.

      Dominguez (elbow) exited in the eighth inning of Thursday's rehab game with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, but the departure was unrelated to the injury sustained by Juan Soto (forearm), Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.

      Advice: Dominguez's removal was planned, as he has yet to play a full game on his rehab assignment as he works his way back from Tommy John surgery. Of course, it's still possible Dominguez could replace Soto on the big-league roster should the latter miss time. Soto is set to undergo imaging on his left forearm Friday, and the results will dictate how the Yankees proceed.     • Struggles with control in loss
      Lopez (5-6) took the loss against the Yankees on Thursday, allowing seven runs on four hits and six walks while striking out four batters over four innings.

      Advice: Lopez threw just 54 of 96 pitches for strikes and issued a season-high six walks -- more than he had handed out over his previous seven starts combined. Three of the free passes came to consecutive batters leading off the third frame, and all three of the recipients came around to score. The wildness was probably an aberration for Lopez considering his overall track record, but even when he's finding the strike zone, he's been struggling to get batters out. Over his past four starts, Lopez has allowed 21 earned runs over 20.2 innings, pushing his season ERA to a disappointing 5.45. Rotowire.com Thursday, 11:15 pm

      Pablo Lopez allowed seven runs in four innings and took the loss against the Yankees on Thursday.

      Advice: Lopez gave up four hits, walked six and struck out four. It was a tough matchup against the Yankees, but Lopez was shaky in this one. He hit Austin Wells in the second inning and he scored on a home run by Trent Gresham. In the third inning, Lopez walked the bases loaded and all three of the runners ended up scoring. In the fourth inning, he walked Aaron Judge, who also ended up scoring. Lopez’ ERA is up to 5.45 on the season, but his xFIP is significantly lower at 3.42.     • MRI reveals bone spur in Joe Musgrove’s elbow
      Joe Musgrove underwent an MRI that revealed a bone spur and contusion in his right elbow.

      Advice: Musgrove, who landed on the injured list last weekend with right elbow inflammation, received both a PRP and cortisone injections to address the issue and hopes to resume throwing in roughly two weeks. The 31-year-old righty told reporters arthroscopic surgery is possible if the issue doesn’t improve, but that’s not being considered as an option for now.
