    • Homers in loss
Gurriel went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, an additional RBI and two total runs scored in Friday's 9-4 loss to the Athletics.

Advice: Gurriel has multiple hits in seven of his last nine games, going 15-for-35 (.429) in that span. The outfielder's surge has lifted his slash line to .267/.301/.422 with 11 homers, 47 RBI, 37 runs scored and three stolen bases over 76 contests this season. Gurriel's .723 OPS is still the lowest mark of his career, but he's been trending in the right direction for most of June after entering the month with a .642 OPS. Rotowire.com 32 minutes ago
    • Lourdes Gurriel hits homer in loss to A’s
Lourdes Gurriel went 2-for-4 with a homer and two RBI in a loss to the A’s on Friday.

Advice: Gurriel drove in a run in the first with an RBI single, and he clobbered a solo homer to tie the game at 3-3 in the sixth; both of those hits coming off JP Sears. The veteran outfielder has been inconsistent — something that has followed him for most of his career — but the two-hit night has his average up to .267 and his OPS up to .723 with 11 homers and 47 RBI through 303 at-bats. You can do better, but there’s definitely worse bench options as well. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:19 pm
    • Michael Kopech earns second save in two days
Michael Kopech pitched a hitless ninth inning against the Rockies for his seventh save Friday.

Advice: Kopech has saves on back-to-back days after going nearly six weeks without one. It’s good to see, but it does mean he’ll be of Saturday, perhaps creating a save opportunity for Steven Wilson. John Brebbia has also pitched back-to-back days, so he probably won’t be an option. • Bags seventh save
Kopech earned the save in Friday's 5-3 win over the Rockies, pitching a scoreless inning and working around a walk.

Advice: The 28-year-old entered the ninth with a two-run lead and looked to immediately be in danger as he opened with six-pitch walk to Ryan McMahon. However, Kopech induced two consecutive groudouts, including one of the double-play variety, to escape with just his second save in June. The Chicago right-hander lowered his season ERA to 4.46 over 34.1 innings as he appears to have seized control of the closer's role over John Brebbia for the time being. • Bryson Stott drives in two runs to lead Phillies
Bryson Stott drove in a pair of runs on Friday night, accounting for all of the Phillies’ offense in a 2-0 victory over the Marlins.

Advice: Stott used his wheels in the fifth inning, beating out a potential inning-ending double play ball to score Whit Merrifield with the game’s first run. He then tacked on a valuable insurance run in the eighth with a sacrifice fly. The 26-year-old infielder finished the night 0-for-3 and is now hitting .239/.332/.359 with five homers, 38 RBI and 20 stolen bases. Rotoworld Yesterday, 5:48 pm

    • Padres transfer Joe Musgrove to 60-day IL
Padres transferred RHP Joe Musgrove to the 60-day injured list.

Advice: Nothing has changed in the prognosis for the 31-year-old hurler, this was done as a procedural move to free up a spot on the team’s 40-man roster for Austin Davis to join the bullpen on Friday. Musgrove continues to recover from a bone spur in his right elbow and has been throwing off of flat ground in recent days. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:15 pm

    • Moved to 60-day IL
Musgrove (elbow) was transferred to the 60-day injured list Friday.

Advice: Transferring Musgrove to the 60-day IL opens up a spot on the 40-man roster for Austin Davis, who'll join the big-league roster. Though Musgrove began playing catch Monday, he still has plenty of checkpoints to hi before being cleared and likely won't be back in action until after the All-Star break. • Homers in blowout loss
Arenado went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in Thursday's 11-4 loss to the Reds.

Advice: Arenado cut the deficit to 5-2 with his third-inning blast, but the Cardinals weren't able to build off it. While he's battled a couple of arm injures recently, the third baseman has still put together a decent June. He's batting .260 with a .698 OPS this month, though just five of his 20 hits have gone for extra bases over the last 21 contests. Overall, Arenado is at seven homers, 34 RBI, 27 runs scored, one stolen base and a .258/.313/.378 slash line for the year. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:53 am

    • Earns sixth save
Kopech struck out one while not allowing a hit or a walk during the ninth inning Thursday to pick up the save against Atlanta.

Advice: A fielding error is all that prevented a 1-2-3 outing from Kopech, who collected his first save since May 15 after having blown his previous three opportunities. Kopech carries an impressive K/9 rate of 13.0, collecting 48 strikeouts over 33.1 innings. However, he's also allowed 48 batters to reach base (1.44 WHIP), including allowing 1.9 homers and 5.1 walks per nine innings. Kopech is a piece the White Sox will strongly consider selling at the trade deadline and will look for more performances like he provided Thursday to help them maximize the return they might get for him.
