    • Slugs another homer
Goldschmidt went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a 6-4 loss to the Royals in Game 1 of Wednesday's doubleheader.

Advice: Goldschmidt also went 1-for-4 in the nightcap, but he struck out a total of four times across the twin bill. The first baseman is up to 13 homers this year, with four of them coming over his last 17 contests. He's at a .229/.292/.374 slash line, 36 RBI, 46 runs scored, six stolen bases and 13 doubles through 390 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:46 pm
    • Homers in day game
Arenado went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in a 6-4 loss to the Royals in Game 1 of Wednesday's doubleheader.

Advice: Arenado opened the scoring in the matinee contest with a second-inning solo shot. The third baseman wasn't as productive in the nightcap, going 0-for-4 to keep his season-long batting average steady at .266. He's added a .697 OPS, eight homers, 38 RBI, 33 runs scored, 14 doubles and one stolen base through 363 plate appearances this season. Arenado is batting .297 (11-for-37) in July, perhaps signaling a turnaround in the second half. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:43 pm

    • Jeff Hoffman slams door on Dodgers in ninth
Jeff Hoffman slammed the door on the Dodgers in the ninth inning on Wednesday, protecting a one-run lead to snag his ninth save of the season.

Advice: Hoffman was called upon this time after Jose Alvarado worked the eighth inning and the first-time All-Star made it look awfully easy in this one — getting Chris Taylor on strikes, Gavin Lux on a pop up to shortstop and Will Smith on a fly ball to right to end it. The 31-year-old right-hander now boasts an exceptional 1.17 ERA, 0.86 WHIP and a 48/8 K/BB ratio across 38 1/3 innings on the season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:47 pm
    • Strikes out nine in loss
King (7-6) took the loss against the Mariners on Wednesday, allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits and one walk with nine strikeouts over six innings.

Advice: King allowed three hits and a run in the fourth inning but was otherwise fantastic, generating 13 swinging strikes on 91 pitches. He was sitting about one mph above his season averages on most of his offerings and has now yielded one earned run in each of his past three starts. The 29-year-old will take a 3.41 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 129:42 K:BB into the All-Star break. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:31 pm

    • Michael King strikes out nine in loss to Mariners
Michael King struck out nine and was charged with two runs (one earned) over six innings on Wednesday in a loss to the Mariners.

Advice: King found himself on the hook for the loss during Wednesday’s low-scoring showdown, despite generated 13 swinging strikes and finishing with a 32 percent CSW. His velocity was up across the board in this one as his fastball was sitting consistently in the mid-90’s, but he still gave up some pretty hard contact, including a three of fourth-inning singles with exit velocities over 103 mph. The nine punchouts were his most since posting a season-high 12 strikeouts back on June 12 against the Athletics. He’ll bring a solid 3.41 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 129/42 K/BB ratio across 111 innings (20 appearances, 19 starts) into the All-Star break. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:28 pm

    • Pablo López gives up two runs in no-decision
Pablo López allowed two runs over five innings on Wednesday in a no-decision against the White Sox.

Advice: López took the ball for the second game of Wednesday’s twin bill and surrendered only four hits to the White Sox, including a solo homer to light-hitting backstop Martín Maldonado. He finished with five strikeouts and only issued one walk. He generated 18 swinging strikes, including nine on his four-seam fastball, and finished with a respectable 30 percent CSW. It was a halfway decent rebound effort after getting lit up for six runs over five innings his last time out against the Astros. The 28-year-old righty will bring a bloated 5.11 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 121/23 K/BB ratio across 104 innings (19 starts) into the All-Star break. Rotoworld Yesterday, 5:47 pm

    • Better in no-decision
Lopez allowed two runs on four hits and a walk over five innings in a no-decision Wednesday against the White Sox. He struck out five.

Advice: While he failed to earn the win, it was a much better outing from Lopez after he allowed six runs on eight hits over five innings in his last start against the Astros. Overall, it's been an inconsistent year so far for Lopez, who'll carry a disappointing 5.11 ERA into the All-Star break. However, a 1.18 WHIP, 121:23 K:BB and an xERA of 3.38 indicate that Lopez could be due for some positive regression in the second half. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:52 pm

    • Getting night off
Smith is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Phillies.

Advice: The newly minted All-Star will get a breather Wednesday while Austin Barnes receives a turn behind the dish. Smith was one of the few bright spots for the Dodgers in Tuesday's 10-1 loss in the series opener, going 2-for-4 with a walk in the blowout. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:30 pm

    • Erick Fedde goes five scoreless in victory
Erick Fedde blanked the Twins for five innings and struck out five as the White Sox prevailed 3-1 in the first game of Wednesday’s doubleheader.

Advice: It’s the fifth time in 19 starts in which Fedde has avoided allowing a run. He’s given up two or fewer 13 times, and he ends the first half 7-3 with a 2.99 ERA. Most likely, he’ll face the Pirates in the first game after the break next week. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:02 pm
