    • Remains limited to tee work
Edman (wrist) remains limited to tee work, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

Advice: He has been cleared to up the intensity of his workouts, but Edman's progress remains, at best, slow, with no return date in sight. The switch-hitter was transferred to the 60-day injured list earlier this week, so he's officially not eligible for activation until late May. Rotowire.com 1 minute ago

    • Could be available in relief
Astros manager Joe Espada said Thursday that Brown could be available out of the bullpen for the next few days, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Advice: Brown last pitched on Sunday and had been on turn for a start Saturday in Detroit, but Cristian Javier (neck) is returning that day and Justin Verlander will move ahead of Brown to pitch Sunday on regular rest. Brown seemingly would be set up to make a start Monday versus the Athletics if he doesn't pitch in relief before then, but it doesn't appear that has been decided yet. Espada hasn't ruled out the possibility of using a six-man rotation for a while, which would leave room for both Brown an Spencer Arrighetti to keep making starts. • Allows three homers in loss
Kirby (3-3) was hit with the loss against the Twins on Wednesday, allowing four runs on four hits and one walk over five innings. He struck out four.

Advice: Kirby didn't have his best stuff Wednesday, surrendering back-to-back home runs to Carlos Correa and Trevor Larnach in the first inning, along with a third long ball off the bat of Willi Castro in the following frame. The right-hander had not allowed more than one home run in a start coming in and had held opponents to one or fewer runs in each of his previous three outings. On a positive note, Kirby has now gone at least five innings in five consecutive starts, posting a 32:3 K:BB over that stretch. Rotowire.com Today, 5:33 am

    • LIfted in ninth inning again
Kimbrel was pulled in the ninth frame of Wednesday's game against the Nationals and was charged with two runs on two walks and a hit over two-thirds of an inning, though he was credited with a hold.

Advice: Kimbrel was called upon to protect a two-run, ninth-inning lead and initially appeared set to do so with little trouble, as he retired the first two batters he faced. However, Eddie Rosario then tagged the veteran closer for a solo home run, and Kimbrel followed with two straight walks before he was given the hook. Keegan Akin allowed one of the inherited runners to score, thus sending the game into extra frames. Though Kimbrel was credited with a hold, he was pulled in a save situation in the ninth inning for his second straight outing, so his hold on the closer role for Baltimore could be getting tenuous. Over his past five contests, Kimbrel has blown two saves in addition to being pulled from a save situation on two occasions, and he's allowed six earned runs while posting a 4:7 K:BB across 2.1 innings during that stretch. • Craig Kimbrel blows another save against Nationals
Craig Kimbrel suffered his third blown save of the season on Wednesday night, giving up two runs on a hit and two walks while recording just two outs.

Advice: The 35-year-old right-hander has not pitched well since dealing with back soreness, and perhaps the Orioles want to consider a stint on the injured list to sit him down and get him right. Kimbrel came on with a 3-1 lead in the ninth inning of this one and got the first two hitters in order, but then served up a solo homer to Eddie Rosario and then walked a pair of batters before turning the ball over to Keegan Akin who allowed a game-tying RBI single to CJ Abrams. Kimbrel now sports an unappealing 4.73 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and a 21/9 K/BB ratio over 13 1/3 innings of work on the season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:41 pm
    • George Kirby surrenders four runs in loss to Twins
George Kirby allowed four runs with four strikeouts over five innings in a loss against the Twins on Wednesday.

Advice: Kirby surrendered a pair of solo homers to Trevor Larnach and Carlos Correa in the first inning. Willi Castro got to Kirby in the second with a solo blast before driving in a fourth run with a triple in the fourth. Kirby tossed one more scoreless frame, ending his day after five at 70 pitches. The 26-year-old right-hander holds a 4.15 ERA, 1.04 WHIP, and a 45/5 K/BB ratio across 43 1/3 innings. He’s lined up for a start against the Royals in Seattle on Monday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:33 pm

    • Doubles twice, scores in loss
Carpenter went 2-for-4 with two doubles and a run scored in Wednesday's 5-4, 10-inning loss to the Guardians.

Advice: Carpenter continued his solid play this season, as he's now batting .269 with an .801 OPS. He's collected eight doubles so far but only three home runs across 36 games. After breaking out for 20 long balls last year, Carpenter could dial up the power soon, which would only further enhance his fantasy value. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:28 pm
    • No support in loss
Burnes (3-2) allowed three runs on five hits and three walks while striking out six over 6.1 innings to take the loss Tuesday versus the Nationals.

Advice: The three walks matched a season high, and the Nationals proved opportunistic by logging three steals with Burnes on the mound. The right-hander has earned a quality start in five of his eight outings and has yet to give up more than three runs in any of his starts. He's winless over his last three starts but owns a 2.83 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 47:12 K:BB through 47.2 innings overall. Burnes lines up for a home start versus the Blue Jays in his next outing. • Big day against Houston
Verdugo went 3-for-5 with a home run and four RBI in Tuesday's 10-3 win over the Astros.

Advice: The 27-year-old got the rout started for the Yankees by launching a three-run homer off Justin Verlander in the bottom of the first inning. Verdugo has gone yard three times in his last eight games while batting .324 (11-for-34), and the surge has boosted his slash line on the season to .275/.362/.450 with five homers, one steal, 17 RBI and 19 runs in 34 contests.
