      Mountcastle went 2-for-3 with a walk, two home runs, four RBI and a third run scored in Saturday's 9-5 win over the Rays.

      Advice: The O's launched four homers in total off Taj Bradley, and Mountcastle bookended the barrage with long balls in the first and fourth innings. The power display snapped a 17-game homer drought for the 27-year-old, but Mountcastle hasn't been slumping -- over his last 10 games he's batting .459 (17-for-37) with five doubles and five multi-hit performances.     • Ezequiel Tovar tallies three more hits in loss
      Ezequiel Tovar went 3-for-4 with a double on Saturday in the Rockies’ loss to the Dodgers.

      Advice: Tovar notched his second consecutive three-hit performance to raise his batting average to .302 (71-for-235) with eight homers and four steals through 56 contests. The 22-year-old shortstop has been an unexpected batting average booster this season and wound up leading the National League with 16 extra-base hits during the month of May. That’ll do.     • Struggles with control Saturday
      Steele allowed five runs (one earned) on seven hits and four walks while striking out five batters over five innings in a no-decision against Cincinnati on Saturday.

      Advice: Steele's fantasy stat line wasn't disastrous since only one of the five runs charged to him was earned, but he was far from sharp, especially in terms of control. The southpaw hit a batter in addition to issuing a season-high four walks, and he threw just 58 of 98 pitches for strikes. Steele is usually much better at limiting free passes -- before Saturday, he had issued only seven walks over six starts -- so this was likely just a bump in the road for him.     • Steele allows five runs in no-decision
      Justin Steele allowed five runs (one earned) in five innings and got a no-decision in the Cubs’ 7-5 victory over the Reds on Saturday.



      Advice: Steele gave up seven hits, walked four and struck out five. He seemed to be turning a corner with seven shutout innings in his last start, but this was a setback for Steele. Even though most of the runs were unearned, he’s now allowed at least five runs in four of his last five starts. Steele has completed six innings in only two of his seven starts this year. His ERA was mostly spared in this one and now sits at 4.10 for the season, but when you add it all up this isn’t a recipe for winning games right now. The 28-year-old left-hander will look to improve against the Reds on the road next week.

      Weathers (3-5) took the loss to the Rangers on Saturday, allowing four runs on nine hits and no walks with 11 strikeouts over six innings.

      Advice: Weathers opened with two scoreless frames before allowing two runs in each of the third and fourth innings. Weathers struck out the side in his sixth and final inning to finish with a season-high 11 strikeouts, but nine hits allowed also represented his highest total in 2024.       Ryan Weathers struck out 11 but allowed four runs over six innings in a loss to the Rangers on Saturday.

      Advice: The 11 strikeouts are a season-high for Weathers, and it’s the second time he’s reached double digits in 2024. The punchouts are nice, but he also allowed nine hits and four runs, so this was a mixed effort at best from the 24-year-old.       Ryan Mountcastle went 2-for-3 with two homers, three runs scored, four RBI, and a walk to power the Orioles to a 9-5 victory over the Rays on Saturday.

      Advice: Mountcastle sent one deep over the center field walk for a two-run blast off Taj Bradley in the first inning. He drew a walk to lead off the third and scored on a base hit by Jordan Westburg before taking Bradley deep once again for another two-run shot in the fourth. The 27-year-old first baseman breaks a 17-game home run drought with the two-homer day. He’s slashing .293/.333/.505 with eight home runs, 31 runs scored, and 24 RBI across 213 plate appearances.
