    • Taking over Eflin's rotation spot
Springs (elbow) will throw a bullpen session Sunday and then will make a start with the Rays either Tuesday or Wednesday, MLB.com reports.

Advice: Springs has made eight rehab outings, most recently building up to five innings in a start July 25. Assuming things go well with his bullpen session Sunday, he'll be set for his first big-league appearance since April of 2023. The Rays may monitor Springs' innings due to his lengthy layoff, but he'll claim Zach Eflin's vacancy in the rotation. Rotowire.com 41 minutes ago

    • Bat shows life in loss
Garcia went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI in Friday's 6-5 loss to Toronto.

Advice: Garcia had a run-producing, two-out single in the first then hit the shortest home run ever measured at Rogers Center since Statcast began tracking distance. Garcia sent an opposite field flyball that clanged off the base of the foul pole in right field, 328 feet away. It's a sign that the outfielder's cool bat may be coming to life. Garcia entered the contest with a .437 OPS over the last 16 games and just one home run over the last 19. Rotowire.com Today, 5:23 am

    • Strikes out five in no-decision
Lodolo allowed two runs on five hits and one walk while striking out five batters over 6.2 innings in a no-decision against the Rays on Friday.

Advice: Lodolo allowed two runs in the second inning but otherwise went unscathed into the seventh inning on Friday's no-decision. Lodolo had struggled over his last four starts, pitching to a 6.05 ERA in his last 19.1 innings, so it was good he got back on track with another quality start. It was Lodolo's eighth quality start in his 16th appearance of the campaign. The 26-year-old has eight wins and a 3.45 ERA with a 1.11 WHIP through 91.1 innings this season. • Adolis García socks 18th home run in loss
Adolis García went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI on Friday against the Blue Jays.

Advice: Somehow, García’s homer was the Rangers’ only extra-base hit in this one despite 15 hard-hit balls. The home run was just his second this month in what’s been a disappointing season for the right fielder. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:10 pm

    • Tagged with sixth loss
Sanchez (7-6) took the loss Friday vs the Guardians, giving up three runs on eight hits and two walks over six innings. He struck out two.

Advice: Sanchez got little run support from his offense, as he ended up with the loss despite tossing a quality start. Sanchez now has lost three of his last four starts after a streak of 11 consecutive outings without a loss. The 27-year-old remains a steady option with quality starts in nine of his last 14 starts, and he's allowed just three home runs in 115 innings this season. Sanchez will take a 3.05 ERA into his next start, tentatively scheduled vs the Yankees. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:09 pm
    • Nick Lodolo navigates his way to quality start
Nick Lodolo allowed five hits and two earned runs across 6 2/3 innings on Wednesday against the Rays. He struck out five and walked one in a no-decision.

Advice: Lodolo worked his way through a lot of hard contact to earn this quality start. It was strange though as Lodolo didn’t have any of his off-speed or breaking balls working yet forced eight swings-and-misses with his fastball. This made two consecutive starts where he’s worked into the seventh inning and his seventh time doing so this season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:05 pm

    • Bryson Stott tallies three hits, home run
Bryson Stott went 3-for-4 with a solo home run on Friday against the Guardians.

Advice: Stott has been mired in a prolonged slump with a .540 over his last 20 games entering play Friday. The homer was just his second since May 19th as he hopes to finally break out. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:36 pm

    • Cristopher Sánchez labors his way to quality start
Cristopher Sánchez allowed eight hits and three earned runs across six innings on Friday against the Guardians. He struck out two and walked two in defeat.

Advice: Sánchez was singled to death in this one. All eight of the hits he surrendered were just base hits and the Guardians turned them into three runs. This was bittersweet for fantasy managers with Sánchez finding his way to a quality start despite not seeing the strikeout or whiff totals he did when he’s been at his best this season. • Reds option OF Rece Hinds to Triple-A
Reds optioned OF Rece Hinds to Triple-A Louisville.

Advice: The NL Player of the Week two weeks ago, Hinds is now heading back to the minors as the corresponding move for the Reds activating TJ Friedl. Hinds began his MLB career 11-for-22 in his first six games, but was just 1-for-16 in his last four games. In total, he struck out 12 times and walked only once. The Reds will probably give Hinds another chance later this year. Rotoworld Yesterday, 11:56 am
