      Marcell Ozuna went 2-for-5 with two runs scored, a home run and four RBI against the Athletics on Saturday.

      Ke’Bryan Hayes went 2-for-4 and belted a two-run homer on Saturday, powering the Pirates to a lopsided 8-1 victory over the Blue Jays in Toronto.

      Advice: Hayes put the exclamation point on a three-run first inning for the Pirates with his 404-foot (107.8 mph EV) two-run blast off of Yusei Kikuchi. That would be more than enough run support for Mitch Keller and company in this one. Hayes also led off the sixth inning with a single and scored on a fielder’s choice off the bat of Jared Triolo.       Maeda (2-2) took the loss Friday as the Tigers fell 7-3 to the Red Sox, coughing up five runs on eight hits and two walks over 4.2 innings. He struck out six.

      Advice: It could have been a lot worse for the veteran right-hander. While five of the eight hits he surrendered went for extra bases, three of them were doubles high off the Green Monster that nearly left Fenway Park completely. Maeda took a big step back after blanking the Blue Jays over five innings in his first start off the IL back on May 24, but Friday's performance was more in line with his 2024 campaign so far.       Advice: The steal was his first of the year, after he'd swiped 30 over the prior two seasons combined. Hayes missed most of May with back trouble, which could help explain his lack of activity on the basepaths, and Friday's single was his first hit of any kind since May 5. The third baseman has a disappointing .237/.318/.311 slash line through 36 games with one homer and 12 RBI, but if he can stay healthy he's capable of heating up over the summer. We think that’s probably the wrong call, but at the same time, McCormick has not, in any way, resembled the threat he was last year. We still think the Astros should give him a few weeks of regular playing time to see if he can bounce back, but we’re not especially optimistic that he would take advantage of said opportunity.
