    • Logan Webb settles for no-decision against Cubs
      Logan Webb allowed two runs over seven innings on Tuesday in a no-decision against the Cubs.

      Advice: Webb coughed up a two-run homer to Dansby Swanson in the second inning on Tuesday evening at Wrigley Field, but managed to keep Chicago’s potent lineup off the scoreboard into the late stages of this one. He struck out five and only issued one walk. The 27-year-old righty has completed six frames in eight consecutive starts since May 10. He’ll bring a solid 2.99 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 82/21 K/BB ratio across 99 1/3 innings (16 starts) into a rematch on Monday against the Cubs back at Oracle Park. Rotoworld Wednesday, 2:55 am
       
    • Quality start in no-decision
      Webb did not factor into the decision in Tuesday's 5-2 loss to the Cubs, allowing two runs on six hits and one walk over seven innings. He struck out five.

      Advice: Webb collected his third consecutive quality start and 12th of the season with a solid 101-pitch outing. The San Francisco ace's only blemish of the game came in the second inning, when he allowed a 401-foot two-run home run to Dansby Swanson. With this outing, Webb pushed his ERA down to 2.99 over 99.1 innings this year.       Puk (0-8) took the loss Monday as the Marlins fell to the Cardinals in 12 innings, giving up two runs (one earned) on two hits in an inning of relief.

      Advice: With the score tied 5-5, Puk got the call in the top of the 12th and served up what proved to be a game-winning two-run homer to Masyn Winn. The southpaw has pitched better since shifting back to the bullpen, and over his last 10 appearances he's posted a 3.48 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 7:1 K:BB through 10.1 innings; however, he has only one hold -- and three losses -- during that stretch.       Eflin did not factor into the decision Sunday, allowing four runs (three earned) on seven hits and one walk over 5.2 innings against Atlanta. He struck out seven.

      Advice: Eflin entered the sixth inning with a four-run lead, but after retiring the first two batters in the frame, he allowed four consecutive singles and was removed one out shy of completing six full innings. The seven strikeouts marked a season high for Eflin, who had failed to record more than three strikeouts during any of his previous five starts. He'll carry a 4.12 ERA and 1.17 WHIP into his next start, currently slated to take place over the weekend when the Rays travel to Pittsburgh to take on the Pirates.       Wheeler (8-4) suffered the loss Sunday, allowing eight runs on nine hits and two walks over 4.1 innings against the Orioles. He struck out four.

      Advice: It was a long day for Wheeler, who allowed four homers after having previously allowed only six long balls over his first 14 starts this season. The eight earned runs allowed matched a career high for Wheeler, who hadn't given up that many in a start since 2018. Sunday's poor effort raised his ERA from 2.16 to 2.84. Wheeler had won his previous eight decisions prior to Sunday's loss, which dropped him to 8-4 on the season. He'll look to get back on track during his next start, currently slated to take place next weekend when the Diamondbacks come to Philly for a rematch of last season's NLCS.     • Kenta Maeda gives up four runs in loss to Astros
      Kenta Maeda wasn’t at his best in Sunday afternoon’s loss to the Astros, giving up four runs on five hits over his five innings of work.

      Advice: The 36-year-old right-hander also issued a pair of walks on the day while recording only one strikeout. He surrendered an RBI single to Yordan Alvarez in the opening inning, then was victimized by Jose Altuve for a two-out, three-run homer in the second inning. Maeda finished his day with three scoreless frames, but the damage had already been done. He got 10 swings and misses on 94 pitches in the ballgame, posting a CSW of 23 percent. He’ll carry an uninspiring 6.02 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and a 36/18 K/BB ratio (49 1/3 innings) into Saturday’s matchup against the White Sox. Rotoworld Sunday, 4:46 pm
       
    • Gives up four runs, takes loss
      Maeda (2-3) was the pitcher of record in Sunday's 4-1 loss to the Astros. He gave up four earned runs on five hits and two walks over five innings.

      Advice: The Astros jumped on Maeda early, plating a run on a pair of base hits in the first inning. Maeda initially looked as though he might not come back for the bottom of the second, as he was struck in the right leg by an 86.7-mile-per-hour Jon Singleton line drive that Maeda gathered and threw to first base for the final out of the first. Maeda limped off the mound and returned for the second, but he served up a three-run home run to Jose Altuve to put the Tigers in a bigger hole. On a positive note, Maeda was able to save the Detroit bullpen a bit, as he faced the minimum nine hitters over the next three frames to get through five innings. Still, the damage was done early, and Maeda has now given up at least four runs in five of his 11 starts this season.     • Zack Wheeler bombarded by Orioles
      Zack Wheeler allowed eight earned runs in 4 1/3 innings on Sunday in a loss to the Orioles. He struck out four and walked two.

      Advice: This was Wheeler’s worst start as a Phillie and the first time he’s allowed eight earned runs since 2018. Baltimore jumped on him with homers in each of the first three innings and then Jordan Westburg put the cherry on top with his three-run blast.
