    • Strikes out eight in win
      Skenes (5-0) earned the win against the Mets on Friday, allowing two runs on four hits and two walks with eight strikeouts over seven innings.

      Advice: Skenes surrendered a solo home run in the third inning and another run in the fourth but was otherwise fantastic. According to The Athletic, he is the first pitcher in major-league history to record seven or more strikeouts in nine of his first 10 career starts. The rookie has not lost a game this season and owns a 2.12 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 78:12 K:BB over 59.1 innings. He lines up for a road matchup with the Brewers next week.     • Paul Skenes strikes out eight Mets in win
      Paul Skenes allowed two earned runs across seven innings on Friday in the Pirates’ lopsided 14-2 win over the Mets. He struck out eight and walked two en route to the win.

      Advice: Skenes got better as this game went on. He retired 10 of the final 11 batters he faced and the one that reached was an infield single where Jose Iglesias was ruled out on the field before it was reviewed. He threw nearly the same number of fastballs and splinkers in this game, the third straight start he mixed them virtually evenly. He also threw his slider 23% of the time. That was the first time he’s thrown it that often since May 29th. Alone, all three of those pitches are awesome. Together with his velocity and command makes him one of the best pitchers in baseball.     • Dominant in rehab outing
      Snell (groin) struck out nine over five scoreless innings in his rehab start Wednesday with Triple-A Sacramento. He allowed no hits and issued one walk.

      Advice: Making his third rehab start with Sacramento since landing on the 15-day injured list June 3, Snell made quick work of the Reno lineup, needing just 67 pitches (46 strikes) to record 15 outs. Based on how well he performed in addition to increasing his workload, Snell should be ready to return from the IL next week to make his next start with the Giants.     • Two hits, stolen base in win
      Marte went 2-for-5 with one RBI, a run scored and a stolen base in Thursday's victory over the Dodgers.

      Advice: Marte singled home Corbin Carroll in the top of the fifth to extend Arizona's lead to two runs before also going on to swipe his fourth bag of the season and first since June 11 against the Angels. The second baseman tallied two knocks on the night and has now posted multiple hits in four of his last seven contests. Marte has also hit safely in three straight and in six of his last seven.       Walker went 2-for-3 with two homers, three RBI and three runs scored in Thursday's win over the Dodgers while also drawing two walks.

      Advice: Walker was at it again Thursday, going back-to-back with Joc Pederson in the opening frame for the first baseman's first home run of the contest before smacking a two-run shot in his next at-bat. The 33-year-old has now clubbed two home runs in back-to-back games and has gone deep in three consecutive contests overall. Furthermore, Thursday marked his fourth straight game with multiple RBI and his fifth straight game with multiple hits.     • Survives early onslaught
      Valdez (7-5) earned the win over Toronto on Thursday, allowing three runs on nine hits and two walks while striking out four batters over six innings.

      Advice: It looked like Valdez could be in for a rough outing when five of the first six batters he faced got a hit, resulting in three runs. However, the left-hander got out of that frame without incurring additional damage, and he went on to complete six frames without surrendering any more runs. Eight of the nine hits Valdez allowed overall were singles, which was key in limiting damage, as Toronto hit into four double plays against him.     • Christian Walker homers twice again versus Dodgers
      Christian Walker hit two more homers and walked twice Thursday as the Diamondbacks dominated the Dodgers 9-3.

      Advice: Walker also homered twice Thursday. He has nine homers in nine games against the Dodgers this season, compared to 12 in 78 games against everyone else.       Josh Lowe went 1-for-2 with a walk, a double, a run scored, an RBI and a stolen base against the Royals on Thursday.

      Advice: Lowe’s stolen base was his sixth of the season. He drove in Isaac Paredes with an RBI double in the first inning and scored on Ben Rortvedt’s two-run single in the fifth inning.     • Bobby Miller no longer starting Sunday vs. Brewers
      Dodgers manager Dave Roberts confirmed that Bobby Miller will not start on Sunday against the Brewers.

      Advice: Roberts elaborated that Miller is healthy, but the Dodgers want to give him some extra time instead of taking the ball on just four days of rest after allowing two runs over five innings on Tuesday against the Diamondbacks.
