    • Healthy but still on assignment
Sano (knee) is healthy enough to be cleared but is remaining on the IL and playing with Triple-A Salt Lake, Sam Blum of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Manager Ron Washington said the Angels "don't have a place for him right now" on the active roster, with Sano sticking at Triple-A despite being at or near full health. In seven games at Salt Lake, Sano owns a .492 OPS with a 40 percent strikeout rate. He'll likely have to show some signs of improvement at the plate before rejoining the Angels. • Homers, drives in two in win
Morel went 2-for-4 with a home run, two RBI and two runs scored in Saturday's 8-1 win over the Mets.

Advice: Morel hit an RBI single in the first inning then crushed a 446-foot solo home run in the third. Morel's .209 average so far in June is actually his highest of any month this season, and the homer was his fourth in 19 June games. The 24-year-old is hitting just .202 to date but does have 14 home runs and 43 RBI over 267 at-bats in 2024. Rotowire.com 1 minute ago

    • Homers again in loss
Alvarez went 2-for-3 with a solo home run in Saturday's 8-1 loss to the Cubs.

Advice: Alvarez's solo home run off Jameson Taillon in the fifth inning was the only run the Mets could muster Saturday. He later added a double in the seventh frame and walked in the ninth. Alvarez has homered on back-to-back days and has gone 10-for-19 with two long balls and six RBI over his past five contests. The young catcher is hitting .284 with three home runs and 16 RBI in 88 at-bats this season. Rotowire.com 3 minutes ago
    • Gives up two earned runs in relief
Howard was charged with three runs (two earned) on four hits and one walk over one inning of relief in Wednesday's 6-5 loss to the Cubs. He recorded three strikeouts.

Advice: After making both of his previous two appearances as a starter, Howard was deployed out of the bullpen behind opening pitcher Erik Miller. Miller left the game after pitching the first inning, then Spencer Bivens, Sean Hjelle and Taylor Rogers worked innings two through six before Howard entered the game in the top of the seventh. Though he worked just one frame, Howard tossed 33 pitches and should remain fairly stretched out if the Giants need to turn to him for a start or a bulk-relief appearance during the team's four-game series against the Cubs to begin the upcoming week. The Giants currently have just two healthy full-time starters (Logan Webb and Jordan Hicks). Rotowire.com 10 minutes ago
    • Lifted with hamstring tightness
Stanton was removed from Saturday's game against Atlanta with left hamstring tightness.

Advice: Stanton seemed to aggravate the hamstring while scoring from second base on a Gleyber Torres double in the fourth inning. Trent Grisham pinch-hit for Stanton the next time Stanton was due up. Stanton is set to undergo imaging Sunday. Rotowire.com 18 minutes ago

    • Showing improvement
Berti (calf) is improving and could begin a minor-league rehab assignment in a few weeks, per MLB.com.

Advice: Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Friday that Berti is "moving in a good direction" and added that the infielder will "hopefully" be ready for a rehab assignment in "a few more weeks." Berti is currently on the 60-day IL due to a left calf strain and isn't eligible to be activated until late July. He will likely fill a utility role upon his return. Rotowire.com 41 minutes ago

    • Enters as pinch hitter
Stephenson fouled out in his only plate appearance during Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Red Sox.

Advice: Stephenson has been dealing with an undisclosed injury, but managed to pinch hit in the ninth inning for Luke Maile. While Stephenson wasn't well enough to start Saturday's contest, it's certainly encouraging that he was able to take an at-bat. Rotowire.com 41 minutes ago

    • Allows three runs in loss
Maeda (2-4) took the loss against the White Sox on Saturday, allowing three runs on eight hits and no walks with five strikeouts over 4.2 innings.

Advice: Maeda tossed three scoreless innings before allowing two runs in the fourth. He then yielded two hits in the fifth before being pulled at 92 pitches, and an inherited runner scored on an RBI single by Andrew Vaughn. Maeda has not registered a quality start since May 1 and has only completed five or more innings in six of his 13 starts this season. The 36-year-old owns a 6.00 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 41:18 K:BB over 54 innings and lines up against the Angels next week. Rotowire.com Today, 5:34 pm

    • Earns first career win
Thorpe (1-1) earned the win against the Tigers on Saturday, allowing two hits and four walks while striking out five over six scoreless innings.

Advice: Thorpe threw the best start of his major-league career, earning his first win in the process. He leaned on his changeup, throwing it 38 times and generating an impressive 10 swinging strikes on the pitch. The rookie did walk four batters after yielding five free passes June 16 and owns an unimpressive 9:11 K:BB with a 5.02 ERA and 1.53 WHIP over 14.1 innings with the White Sox. He lines up for a home matchup with Atlanta next week. Rotowire.com Today, 5:32 pm
