    • Allows three runs in loss
Maeda (2-4) took the loss against the White Sox on Saturday, allowing three runs on eight hits and no walks with five strikeouts over 4.2 innings.

Advice: Maeda tossed three scoreless innings before allowing two runs in the fourth. He then yielded two hits in the fifth before being pulled at 92 pitches, and an inherited runner scored on an RBI single by Andrew Vaughn. Maeda has not registered a quality start since May 1 and has only completed five or more innings in six of his 13 starts this season. The 36-year-old owns a 6.00 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 41:18 K:BB over 54 innings and lines up against the Angels next week. Rotowire.com Today, 5:34 pm

    • Likely out 4-to-6 weeks
Marlins manager Skip Schumaker said that Luzardo, who was placed on the 15-day injured list earlier Saturday with a lumbar stress reaction, will likely be out for 4-to-6 weeks, the Associated Press reports.

Advice: Luzardo's back issue cropped up during his previous start last Sunday in Washington, but he had been on track to start Saturday's game against the Mariners until the Marlins scratched him a day in advance. He was moved to the IL a day later, with Schumaker confirming prior to Saturday's contest that the southpaw will be sidelined through at least the All-Star break with the injury. With the Marlins shaping up as non-contenders this season, Luzardo had been a sought-after name on the trade market, but his uncertain health could limit other teams' interest leading up to the July 30 deadline. Luzardo owns a 5.00 ERA over 12 starts on the season, but he's had shown improved form since late April with a 3.86 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 37:12 K:BB across 46.2 innings over his last eight outings. • Berrios allows five runs in loss against Guardians
Jose Berrios allowed five runs in five innings and took the loss against the Guardians on Saturday.

Advice: Berrios gave up six hits, walked one and struck out three. Home runs have been a problem for Berrios this year and he allowed three more of them on Saturday. He’s now allowed a total of 17 home runs in 16 starts. His 1.58 HR/9 would be a career-high. The 30-year-old right-hander is set to face the Yankees at home next weekend.

    • Logan Gilbert hurls eight scoreless in victory
Logan Gilbert allowed four hits over eight scoreless in a 9-0 win for the Mariners on Saturday.

Advice: Gilbert issued just one walk while striking out six, and he needed just 92 pitches to get through the Miami lineup. The 27-year-old has not allowed a run over his last two outings, and he’s lowered his ERA to 2.71 thanks to those dominant results. The Mariners have arguably the best rotation in baseball, but Gilbert just might be the ace of that staff right now. He’s scheduled to face the Twins at home next weekend. • Kenta Maeda allows three runs Saturday in loss
Kenta Maeda was charged with three runs over 4 2/3 innings on Saturday in a loss to the White Sox.

Advice: Maeda was pretty sharp in this one as he carried a shutout into the fourth inning before giving up a pair of runs. He was tagged for an additional run in the ensuing frame following his exit from the contest. Unfortunately, he didn’t get much run support from Detroit’s lineup and was saddled with a loss. He struck out five and didn’t hand out a free pass. He’ll bring an inflated 6.00 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 41/18 K/BB ratio across 54 innings (13 starts) into a road matchup on Thursday against the Angels. • Not starting Saturday
Rodriguez is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Marlins.

Advice: Rodriguez will be in the dugout Saturday for what is a scheduled off-day for the 23-year-old outfielder, per Daniel Kramer of MLB.com. For the month of June, Rodriguez is slashing .260/.325/.397 with 12 runs, three home runs and eight RBI over 73 at-bats. Dylan Moore, Dominic Canzone and Luke Raley will man the outfield Saturday. • Julio Rodríguez gets rare day off on Saturday
Julio Rodríguez is not in the lineup for Saturday’s game against the Marlins.

Advice: It’s an extremely rare off day for Rodríguez, who has been struggling a bit at the dish over the last few weeks, batting .237 (14-for-59) with only two homers and two steals over his last 15 games. Hopefully an extra day of rest will enable him to get back on track at the plate. Rotoworld Today, 10:16 am
    • Willson Contreras (forearm) could return on Monday
The Athletic’s Katie Woo reports Willson Contreras (forearm) could return as early as Monday’s series opener against the Braves.

Advice: Contreras is slated to get into a pair of rehab contests this weekend for Triple-A Memphis with the aim of returning early next week. The 32-year-old backstop has been on the shelf since undergoing surgery back in early May to repair a fractured left forearm. Barring something unexpected, he should return early next week, which would be a significant development for the Cardinals, and fantasy managers as well. Rotoworld Today, 10:10 am

    • Jesús Luzardo out 4-6 weeks with back ailment
Marlins placed LHP Jesús Luzardo on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to June 19, with a lumbar stress reaction.

Advice: Luzardo finds himself on the injured list for the second time this season and the timing is tricky with the trade deadline looming large in a couple weeks. The 26-year-old southpaw is expected to be one of the most highly-coveted names at the deadline, but it’s going to take a considerable haul to pry him away from Miami since he won’t be a free agent until 2027. Marlins manager Skip Schumaker told reporters Luzardo is expected to miss at least 4-6 weeks, which puts his potential return sometime after next month’s All-Star break. Rotoworld Today, 9:32 am
