• Continues stellar run
Gil (6-1) earned the win Thursday over the Mariners, allowing just one hit and two walks while striking out eight in 6.1 scoreless innings.

Advice: Gil continues to look like a star in the Yankees' rotation -- the 25-year-old right-hander now has five straight wins and quality starts, allowing just two runs over 30.2 innings in that span. He's lowered his ERA to 2.11 on the year with a 1.01 WHIP and 70:29 K:BB through 10 starts (55.1 innings). GIl will look to keep rolling in his next outing, currently scheduled for next week on the road against the Angels. Rotowire.com 11 minutes ago

  • Another strong outing
Skenes didn't factor into the decision Thursday against the Giants, allowing one run on six hits and a walk over six innings. He struck out three.

Advice: While Thursday's outing wasn't as dominant as Skene's 11-strikeout performance in his last start, the rookie right-hander was still effective, coaxing a pair of key double-play balls to limit the Giants to just one run. However, the Pirates bullpen would implode late, leaving Skenes with a no-decision in an eventual 7-6 loss. Skenes now sports a 2.25 ERA with a 1.00 WHIP and an impressive 21:4 K:BB through his first three starts (16 innings). He's currently in line for a road matchup with the Tigers in his next outing. • Matt Waldron gives up two, gets no-decision
Matt Waldron didn’t factor into the decision Thursday against the Reds after allowing two runs over five innings with seven strikeouts.

Advice: Waldron gave up both of his runs in his first two innings before settling down quite nicely. The 27-year-old gave up six hits and two walks in another solid effort for the knuckleballer after scuffling in the early portion of the season. He’s absolutely worth streaming consideration; particularly in a start Tuesday against the Marlins. Rotoworld 49 minutes ago

  • Frankie Montas surrenders four runs vs. Padres
Frankie Montas was charged for four runs in six innings in a no-decision against the Padres on Thursday.

Advice: This could have gone a lot worse. Montas gave up all four runs in the first two innings, but he was effective enough to give Cincinnati — and fantasy managers — six innings despite allowing nine hits in the contest. The right-hander has been shaky at best for Cincinnati over the first third of the season with a 4.64 ERA over nine starts as evidence. He’ll try and lower that mark next week against the Cardinals. • Andrew Heaney allows nine hits, three earned
Andrew Heaney gave up four runs — three earned — over 3 2/3 innings in a loss to the Phillies on Thursday.

Advice: Heaney allowed nine hits in the contest, and he also allowed two walks with just one strikeout. The southpaw has not been able to complete four innings in his last two starts, and he’s seen his ERA increase to 4.69 over his 10 starts. Heaney would be in danger of losing his rotation spot if the Rangers rotation was remotely healthy, but it’s not, so he’ll remain a shaky fantasy option for the next few turns. • Zack Wheeler fires seven strong in win over Rangers
Zack Wheeler held the Rangers to two runs over seven innings while picking up a win Thursday.

Advice: Wheeler scattered five hits with two walks, and he struck out five. The blemishes on the scoreboard came on an Adolis Garcia homer in the second and an infield single by Ezekiel Duran in the seventh. Outside of that, it was another strong outing for the 33-year-old that sees him lower his ERA to 2.53 as he worked at least seven innings for the third time in four starts. He’s scheduled to get the Giants on Tuesday. Rotoworld Today, 1:16 pm

  • Paul Skenes limits Giants to one run over six
Paul Skenes allowed one run over six innings with three strikeouts, but didn’t factor into the decision against the Giants on Thursday.

Advice: Skenes allowed six hits and one walk. The right-hander didn’t have his best swing-and-miss stuff, and he did deal with some traffic; something he didn’t deal with at all in his six no-hit innings Friday against the Cubs. Even still, the 21-year-old was impressive again, and he now has a 2.25 ERA and a 21/4 K/BB over three starts. Next up for Skenes is a start against the Tigers on Wednesday. • Slated for bulk relief
Alexander is in line to serve as a bulk reliever in Friday's game versus the Royals, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Advice: Alexander carried a perfect game into the eighth inning of his last outing in Toronto as a traditional starter, but he's slated to follow opener Shawn Armstrong on Friday. The left-hander holds a 5.06 ERA in six traditional starts and a 5.40 ERA in bulk relief this season. Rotowire.com Today, 12:32 pm
  • Will be opener Friday
Armstrong will serve as an opener for Friday's game against the Royals, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Advice: The right-hander will be first into the game before handing things off to Tyler Alexander, who is slated to handle the bulk of the innings. It will be the fourth opener assignment this season for Armstrong, who has allowed four runs (three earned) with an 8:2 K:BB over four innings in the first three outings. Rotowire.com Today, 12:26 pm
