Gurriel went 2-for-4 in Sunday's 4-1 loss to the Phillies.
Advice: Gurriel returned to action after sitting out Saturday with minor elbow soreness. Sunday's two-hit outing gives the outfielder five consecutive games with multiple hits. He's 10-for-21 (.476) with nine singles and one home run during that stretch. Rotowire.comToday, 5:00 am
Irvin didn't factor into the decision Sunday against the Rockies, allowing one run on three hits and one walk with 10 strikeouts across six innings.
Advice: Irvin tied his career high in strikeouts Sunday, matching his K total from a May 28 start against Atlanta. The lone run against the 27-year-old came on a solo home run by Michael Toglia in the second inning -- the game's lone run until the Nationals' two-run ninth inning. Irvin has logged a quality start in five of his last six starts and holds a 2.06 ERA with 37 strikeouts across 35.0 innings during that stretch. He's expected to make his next start against the Rays in Tampa Bay. Rotowire.comYesterday, 10:41 pm
Smith went 1-for-4 with a solo home run during Sunday's 4-0 win over Kansas City.
Advice: Smith tagged Sam Long for a solo shot in the seventh inning, marking Smith's third home run in the last five games. During that stretch, he's 7-for-13 with six RBI. With third baseman Josh Jung (wrist) nearing a return, Smith could shift away from the hot corner and into the DH slot. Rotowire.comYesterday, 10:40 pm
Jake Irvin allowed one run on three hits in six innings in a no-decision against the Rockies on Sunday.
Advice: Irvin also struck out 10 and walked just one. His only blemish was a solo home run to Michael Toglia in the second inning. It was a tremendous effort for the 27-year-old in Coors Field, posting a 39 percent whiff rate and 32 percent CSW. Irvin has let his curveball lead of late, which is a great decision since he commands the pitch well and he can also miss bats with it. He likely will remain a high-end streamer rather than a must-roster player, but that can still be valuable with offense down around the league. He should be started next week against the Rays. Josh Smith went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a win over the Royals on Sunday.
Advice: Smith took Sam Long deep 383 feet at 102.2 mph for his seventh home run on the season. The 26-year-old has been brilliant filling in for Josh Jung, hitting .303/.391/.478 on the year. Considering his ability to play all over the field, he should be able to fight for consistent playing time even when Jung returns. Provided he keeps hitting like this. RotoworldYesterday, 3:01 pm
Gonzales isn't in the Pirates' lineup for Sunday's game against the Rays.
Advice: Gonzales will get a chance to regroup Sunday after going 1-for-17 with five strikeouts over his last five games. In his place, Jared Triolo will get the nod at the keystone and bat sixth. Rotowire.comYesterday, 8:58 am
Adley Rutschman is leading off on Sunday against the Astros.
Advice: Rutschman has been bumped up to the leadoff spot for the first time all season on Sunday afternoon with southpaw Framber Valdez toeing the rubber for Houston. Gunnar Henderson has compiled solid numbers this season against left-handed pitching and will bat cleanup in this one. RotoworldYesterday, 8:31 am
Kim went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and an additional run in Saturday's 6-4 victory against Milwaukee.
Advice: Kim hit a fourth-inning solo shot that gave San Diego a 4-0 lead. The shortstop also singled in the contest, giving him his first multi-hit performance in over two weeks. Kim is slashing .231/.338/.462 with three homers, 12 RBI, nine runs, two stolen bases and an 11:8 BB:K through 20 games in June. Rotowire.comYesterday, 8:01 am
Lourdes Gurriel Jr. (elbow) has returned to the lineup for Sunday’s game against the Phillies.
Advice: Gurriel is back in Arizona’s lineup to face Phillies southpaw Cristopher Sánchez during Sunday’s series finale following a brief one-game absence due to left elbow soreness. It’s a positive sign that he’s ready to return so quickly and it doesn’t sound like it’s going to be a lingering issue moving forward. RotoworldYesterday, 7:02 am
