    • Stuck with loss in quality start
Crawford (3-7) took the loss Friday as the Red Sox fell 5-2 to the Reds, giving up five runs (three earned) on five hits -- including three home runs -- and two walks over 6.1 innings. He struck out seven.

Advice: Some defensive misadventures by Boston softened the blow to the right-hander's ERA and allowed him to escape with his third straight quality start and eighth of the season, but it's hard to ignore the issues Crawford has had of late keeping the ball in the park. He's been tagged for multiple homers in three straight outings and served up at least one in seven straight, stumbling to a 5.36 ERA over the latter stretch despite a 1.19 WHIP and 43:12 K:BB through 40.1 innings. Crawford will try to turn things around in his next start, which lines up to come at home next week against the Blue Jays. Rotowire.com Saturday, 6:46 am

    • Kutter Crawford gives up three homers in loss
Kutter Crawford surrendered five runs — three earned — in 6 1/3 innings Friday in a loss to the Reds.

Advice: Crawford surrendered three homers tonight, bringing his total allowed to seven in his last three starts. He’s given up at least one in seven straight outings. Odds are that Crawford will bounce back from this, but he’s never been more than a fringy mixed-league option in a bad situation for pitchers. Rotoworld Friday, 10:40 pm

    • Posts another quality start
Ryan allowed one run on six hits and one walk while striking out five batters over six innings in a no-decision against Tampa Bay on Wednesday.

Advice: Ryan gave up a third-inning solo homer to Isaac Paredes but otherwise kept the Rays off the scoreboard. The right-handed hurler racked up an impressive 19 swinging strikes, though he finished with a modest five punchouts. Ryan recorded his third straight quality start and his 11th of the season, which is tied for fifth in the majors. He's complemented that total with a 3.13 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 95:15 K:BB over 92 innings. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 10:04 pm
    • Throws six shutout innings
Peralta (5-4) earned the win over the Angels on Wednesday, allowing three hits and two walks while striking out eight over six shutout innings.

Advice: Peralta gave up six runs over 5.1 innings in his previous start, but he bounced back with one of his best outings of the season. This is the second time he's kept runs off the board through 15 starts this year, and it's his sixth quality start. Peralta is at a 4.06 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 106:29 K:BB through 82 innings. The veteran right-hander's next start is projected to be at home versus the Rangers. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 9:15 pm

    • Freddy Peralta blanks Angels over six in win
Freddy Peralta struck out eight batters over six shutout innings in a win over the Angels on Wednesday.

Advice: Peralta bounced back after a six-run outing to make his best start of the season on Wednesday. He held the Angels scoreless over six innings, striking out eight batters on 18 whiffs. He scattered three hits and two walks, tossing 60-of-101 pitches for strikes. The 28-year-old right-hander ends the day with a 4.06 ERA, 1.17 WHIP, and a 106/29 K/BB ratio across 82 innings. Peralta lines up for a start against the Rangers in Milwaukee on Monday. Rotoworld Wednesday, 9:04 pm

    • Joe Ryan pitches well in no-decision vs. Rays
Joe Ryan was terrific in a no-decision against the Rays on Wednesday evening, surrendering just one run on six hits over his six innings of work.

Advice: The 28-year-old hurler struck out five batters on the night while allowing only one base on balls. The lone tally against him came on a 359-foot solo blast off the bat of Isaac Paredes in the third inning. Ryan generated a whopping 19 swings and misses on 94 pitches in the ballgame — 12 of those on his fastball — while registering a strong CSW of 36 percent. The right-hander will carry a terrific 3.13 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and a 95/15 K/BB ratio (92 innings) into Tuesday’s matchup against the Diamondbacks in Arizona. Rotoworld Wednesday, 7:57 pm
    • Dominant in fifth straight win
Lodolo (8-2) earned the win Tuesday over the Pirates, allowing a run on four hits over seven innings. He struck out eight.

Advice: A Ke'Bryan Hayes homer in the seventh inning was the lone mark against Lodolo on Tuesday as he earned his fifth straight win -- the left-hander hasn't allowed more than two runs in a start during that span. Overall, Lodolo's ERA is down to 2.76 on the year with a 1.01 WHIP and 70:15 K:BB across 65.1 innings. He'll look to extend his winning streak to six in his next outing, currently scheduled as a home rematch with the Pirates early next week. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 10:07 pm

    • Nick Lodolo tremendous in win over PIT
Nick Lodolo allowed one run on four hits in seven innings in a win over the Pirates on Tuesday.

Advice: The left-hander struck out eight and didn’t walk a single batter on the day. He got 18 whiffs on 50 swings for a 36 percent whiff rate and 32 percent CSW on the day. He did a good job keeping his fastball upstairs and the curve low in the zone, which led to a 57 percent whiff rate on the curve alone. Lodolo has always showcased high upside but injuries have gotten in his way; yet, he now has a 2.76 ERA on the year with a good start against these same Pirates next week. Rotoworld Tuesday, 7:05 pm

    • Solid effort ends in no-decision
Gray allowed two runs on five hits and two walks over 7.2 innings in Monday's 7-6 win versus the Marlins. He struck out four and didn't factor in the decision.

Advice: Gray pitched into the eighth inning for the first time this season and left the game up 4-1, but the bullpen couldn't hold the lead. The four strikeouts were a season low for Gray as he worked fast and efficiently, needing only 84 pitches to record 23 outs. The veteran's ERA now sits at 2.95 with a 1.02 WHIP through 13 starts.
