      Advice: Mikolas struggled early, allowing three runs in the first inning and another in the third. He bounced back with three perfect frames and departed with a 7-4 lead at the conclusion of the sixth. Mikolas broke a streak of five consecutive quality starts but was still able to earn his third victory in his past four starts.       Advice: Kelly will make his second start of the season Sunday, likely throwing only 1-to-2 innings before handing the ball off. It's unclear if the Red Sox will commit to a full bullpen game or utilize a bulk reliever, though Chase Anderson would be the likely option to work extended innings behind Kelly if Boston elects to go that route.       Ben Lively allowed two runs in 5 2/3 innings and got the win in the Guardians’ 6-3 victory over the Blue Jays on Saturday.



      Advice: Lively gave up three hits, walked two and struck out four. He’s now won five of his last seven starts and has seven wins overall on the season. His ERA is 3.03. Not bad for a waiver wire pickup. The 32-year-old right-hander is set to face the Royals on the road next weekend.

    • Wheeler goes seven, strikes out eight in win
      Zack Wheeler allowed one run in seven innings and got the win in the Phillies’ 12-1 victory over the Diamondbacks on Saturday.

      Advice: Wheeler gave up two hits, walked none and struck out eight. The win was his ninth on the year. It was a big time bounce back from Wheeler, who had allowed eight runs to the Orioles in his last start. He looked like his normal self while dominating the Diamondbacks on Saturday. Wheeler’s ERA is now 2.73 on the season. The 34-year-old right-hander is set to face the Marlins at home next weekend.

    • Logan Gilbert hurls eight scoreless in victory
      Logan Gilbert allowed four hits over eight scoreless in a 9-0 win for the Mariners on Saturday.

      Advice: Gilbert issued just one walk while striking out six, and he needed just 92 pitches to get through the Miami lineup. The 27-year-old has not allowed a run over his last two outings, and he’s lowered his ERA to 2.71 thanks to those dominant results. The Mariners have arguably the best rotation in baseball, but Gilbert just might be the ace of that staff right now. He’s scheduled to face the Twins at home next weekend.       Miles Mikolas gave up four runs over six innings on Saturday in a win over the Giants.

      Advice: Mikolas got in trouble right away in the opening frame when Jorge Soler and Michael Conforto delivered run-scoring singles as part of a three-run outburst. He managed to settle in afterwards, limiting San Francisco to just one run over his final five frames of work. He struck out three and only handed out a pair of free passes.     • Fans eight Yankees for win No. 10
      Sale (10-2) picked up the win Friday, allowing one run on one hit and three walks over five innings in an 8-1 victory over the Yankees. He struck out eight.

      Advice: A Jahmai Jones triple in the second inning was the only knock on Sale's line as the veteran lefty fanned at least seven batters for the eighth time in nine starts since the beginning of May. Over that stretch, he's posted a 2.45 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 74:9 K:BB through 55 innings en route to becoming the third pitcher in the majors this season to reach double-digit wins, after the Phillies' Ranger Suarez and the Royals' Seth Lugo.     • Chris Sale stifles Yankees, earns win
      Chris Sale struck out eight Yankees and allowed just one run across five innings in an 8-1 win on Friday. He walked three while the Yankees had just one hit.

      Advice: Sale was on one in this start. Aaron Judge and Juan Soto were a combined 0-for-4 with four punch outs against the gangly left-hander and just two Yankees reached second base. More notable, Sale’s velocity was up nearly two ticks across the board. His fastball topped out at 98.4 MPH, the fastest he’s thrown a pitch in more than 13 months.       Hudson threw two scoreless innings of relief and picked up his 11th hold of the season in Wednesday's victory over the Angels. He allowed a hit, struck out a batter and walked none.

      Advice: Hudson allowed two earned runs in his final appearance of May, but he gave up only two all season prior to that, and he has not allowed any runs through eight frames in June.
