      Merrill went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a 7-6 win over Milwaukee on Thursday.

      Advice: Merrill hit the second of back-to-back homers with Manny Machado in the first inning to give San Diego an early lead. The long ball was the second in as many days for Merrill, who has surged in the power department of late, with six of his nine homers on the campaign coming over his past eight games. All six of those long balls have been of the solo variety, but it's still a positive development for Merrill's fantasy managers after he went deep just three times over his first 68 games.       Paul Dejong is not in the lineup for the White Sox on Thursday against the Astros.

      Advice: Dejong will take a seat with Nicky Lopez sliding over to shortstop and Danny Mendick playing second base. The veteran is having a great month of June, hitting .246 with six home runs, nine runs, and 11 RBI in 17 games. The power is obviously really nice, but the poor team context around him is keeping his counting stats a little low given his home run total. He has also never hit for a high batting average and is still under .250 even with the power, so he’s really just an add if you’re looking for home runs from your middle infield spot.       Jackson Merrill went 2-for-3 with a solo homer on Wednesday, leading the Padres to a 5-2 victory over the Phillies.

      Advice: Merrill kicked off the scoring in this one with a 401-foot second-inning blast to right field -- his eighth big fly of the season -- off Phillies starter Ranger Suárez. The 21-year-old rookie sensation has caught fire over the past few days, going deep a whopping five times over his last seven contests since June 12.       Advice: Smith returned to the starting lineup Tuesday after battling a hamstring issue since late last week. He was given a soft re-entry as the DH and could return to his normal duties as the fill-in third baseman for the injured Josh Jung (wrist). The surprisingly productive Smith has been a boon to the Rangers' offense which has missed Jung's bat.       Josh Smith went 2-for-4 and hit a three-run homer Tuesday in the loss to the Mets.

      Advice: We’re still not really buying into Smith’s terrific start to the season, but there’s little doubt that he’ll remain in the Rangers lineup after Josh Jung returns. He’s batting .298/.386/.451 through 247 at-bats, even though his exit velocity numbers are actually worse than when he hit .185/.304/.328 last season.       Ha-Seong Kim is not in the lineup for Tuesday’s game against the Phillies.

      Advice: It’s an extremely rare day off for Kim, who has started every game for San Diego since May 23. The 28-year-old is struggling a little bit over the last few weeks, batting .213 (10-for-47) with two homers and six steals over his last 15 contests.
