      Robert Suarez fired a perfect ninth inning on Wednesday against the Phillies to record his 18th save of the season.

      Advice: Suarez got the call to protect a three-run margin in the ninth inning on Wednesday afternoon in Philadelphia and needed just 13 pitches (nine strikes) to end the contest. He struck out Brandon Marsh to open the frame and got Edmundo Sosa to line out before coaxing a game-ending ground out from David Dahl. The 33-year-old righty has converted 17 of 18 save opportunities this season and boasts a microscopic 1.21 ERA, 0.81 WHIP and 28/6 K/BB ratio across 29 2/3 innings (29 appearances).       Ranger Suárez gave up one run over six innings on Wednesday in a no-decision against the Padres.

      Advice: Suárez rolled out his entire five-pitch arsenal on a scorching-hot, 87-degree Wednesday afternoon at Citizens Bank Park, limiting San Diego’s strong lineup to just a second-inning solo shot by rookie Jackson Merrill over six frames of work. He struck out four and didn’t hand out a free pass. The 28-year-old southpaw appears to be on the precipice of his first All-Star game selection as he’s allowed three earned runs or fewer in all but one of his 15 starts so far.       Tarik Skubal surrendered five runs — four earned — in four innings Wednesday in a loss to the Braves.

      Advice: Skubal struck out seven and gave up only five hard-hit balls. Unfortunately, two of those hard-hit balls went 426 and 407 feet, as Skubal allowed two homers for just the second time this season.       Skubal (8-3) took the loss Wednesday against Atlanta, allowing five runs (four earned) on seven hits and two walks over four innings. He struck out seven.

      Advice: Most of the damage against Skubal came via the long ball Wednesday -- he gave up a two-run homer to Sean Murphy in the third inning before Ramon Laureano tacked on a solo shot in the fourth. The 27-year-old Skubal has now lost back-to-back starts for the first time this season -- he's given up eight earned runs over 10.1 innings in that span. The left-hander still sports a solid 2.50 ERA on the year with a 0.97 WHIP and 105:18 K:BB across 90 innings. Skubal is lined up for another tough matchup next week at home versus the Phillies.       Advice: The 25-year-old's shot off Roddery Munoz in the fourth inning was the third of three long balls by the Cardinals on the night, but the offense managed only one more run after that. Burleson is up to 10 homers on the season, and five of them have come in June.       Hamilton (side) entered Tuesday's game as a pinch runner, stole a base and scored a run in a 4-3 come-from-behind win over the Blue Jays.

      Advice: Hamilton was held out of the starting lineup after exiting Monday's game with discomfort in his side. He eventually entered as a pinch runner in the eighth inning and scored the game-winning run after stealing his 19th bag of the season (fifth in MLB). Ten of those 19 steals have come in the last 11 games.       Doyle went 4-for-5 with a solo home run, an additional RBI and two total runs scored in Tuesday's 11-9 loss to the Dodgers.

      Advice: The homer was Doyle's first since May 15, and it was also his first extra-base hit since June 3. While he hasn't hit for much power, the outfielder has been sharp at the plate and adds speed on the bases.
