Skenes didn't factor into the decision Tuesday against St. Louis, allowing five hits and no walks across 6.1 scoreless innings. He struck out eight.

Advice: Skenes was locked into a pitchers' duel with Miles Mikolas, as the first run of the game didn't come across until the ninth inning, leaving both starters with no-decisions. Individually, Skenes was excellent once again, punching out seven or more batters for the fifth time in six starts while issuing no walks for the first time all year. Through 33.1 innings, Skenes has struck out 46 batters and owns a 2.43 ERA and a 0.96 WHIP. He'll make his first trip to Coors Field on Sunday to face off against the Rockies. • Paul Skenes strikes out eight, Pirates down Cards
Paul Skenes recorded eight strikeouts over 6 1/3 scoreless innings in a win over the Cardinals.

Advice: Skenes left the game with the ballgame knotted in a scoreless stalemate after scattering five hits over six-plus frames. The rookie phenom did everything he could to position himself for a win, allowing just one extra-base hit while not surrendering a walk. He ran into a slight bit of trouble in the fifth inning, giving up back-to-back singles to kick off the frame. However, with Nolan Arenado on third and no outs, Skenes would strike out the next two batters he faced before getting Michael Siani to ground out to end the inning. Skenes lowered his ERA to 2.43 on the season and will have a chance to earn his next win on Sunday against the Rockies. Rotoworld Tuesday, 7:21 pm
    • Suffers first loss since April
Lugo (9-2) took the loss to the Yankees on Monday, allowing four runs on eight hits and one walk with four strikeouts over seven innings.

Advice: Lugo had two rough innings, surrendering three hits and two runs in both the first and fourth frames. While all eight hits allowed in the game were singles, he only generated seven swinging strikes on 101 pitches. Lugo has now given up nine runs combined in two June starts after only yielding nine in the entire month of May, but his opponents in those two outings currently rank second and seventh in runs scored this season. Lugo still owns a 2.36 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 75:20 K:BB in 14 starts and lines up against the Dodgers, who rank fourth in runs scored in 2024, on Saturday. Rotowire.com Monday, 8:05 pm

    • Lugo allows four in loss to Yankees Monday
Seth Lugo allowed four runs in seven innings and took the loss against the Yankees on Monday.

Advice: Lugo gave up eight hits, walked one and struck out four. His ERA is now 2.36 on the season. Lugo’s xFIP is much higher at 3.93 and we might be approaching a conversation about what realistic expectations look like for Lugo the rest of the way. He continues to eat innings, but it’s worth noting that before last season when he made a career-high 26 starts, he was primarily used as a reliever throughout his career. The 34-year-old right-hander is set to face the Dodgers on the road this weekend.

    • Allows three runs Sunday
Gil did not factor into the decision in Sunday's loss to the Dodgers, allowing three runs on five hits and a walk while striking out five in 5.2 innings.

Advice: Gil held the Dodgers in check through the first four innings, but they broke through in the fifth on a two-run double from Mookie Betts. Teoscar Hernandez would add to that with a solo home run in the sixth, leading to Gil's exit. Sunday was the first time Gil had given up more than one run in a start since he allowed five against the Brewers on April 26. The Yankees are now 11-2 in games started by Gil, and he'll carry a magnificent 2.04 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 90:35 K:BB (75 innings) into a showdown versus the Red Sox over the weekend. • Luis Gil gives up three runs in no-decision Sunday
Luis Gil pitched decently in a no-decision against the Dodgers on Sunday night, surrendering three runs on five hits over his 5 2/3 innings of work.

Advice: Gil punched out five batters on the evening while allowing just one base on balls. After keeping the vaunted Dodgers’ offense off the board for the first four innings, they broke through in the fifth on a two-run double by Mookie Betts. They added another in the sixth on a go-ahead solo shot off the bat of Teoscar Hernández. The 26-year-old right-hander got 15 swings and misses on 96 pitches on the night — seven each on his fastball and changeup — while posting a CSW of 26 percent. He’ll bring a terrific 2.04 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and a 90/35 K/BB ratio (75 innings) into Friday’s showdown against the Red Sox at Fenway Park. Rotoworld Sunday, 6:56 pm

    • So-so in no-decision
Jones did not factor into the decision Sunday against Minnesota, allowing three runs (two earned) on six hits and three walks in five innings. He struck out three.

Advice: Jones struggled to find his footing early, allowing all three of his runs in a shaky first inning during which he walked two batters and allowed the bases to be loaded with just one out. The 22-year-old rookie was able to settle in afterward, but his control has been a minor cause of concern recently -- Sunday was his fourth consecutive game allowing multiple walks. In that span, Jones has compiled a 4.25 ERA, a 1.46 WHIP and a meager 16:11 K:BB over 21.2 innings. Jones is still an excellent fantasy option, although he will be tested in his next start, currently scheduled for next weekend at Coors Field in Colorado. Rotowire.com Sunday, 3:43 pm

    • Jared Jones battles in no decision on Sunday
Jared Jones allowed three runs on six hits in five innings in a no-decision against the Twins on Sunday.

Advice: The rookie also walked three and struck out three on the day. Jones got 14 whiffs on 42 swings for a 33 percent whiff rate and 29 percent CSW, but he also allowed nine hard-hit baseballs on the day. Jones has now allowed three earned runs in four of his last five starts, but the other start was a masterful shutout of the Dodgers, which shows you just how hard it is to bench Jones when he has this much raw talent. There will be some ups and downs in his rookie season, and it’s understandable if you want to bench Jones next week in Coors Field, but the rookie’s stuff hasn’t shown any meaningful decline. • Dazzles with 10 Ks
Skubal (8-1) picked up the win Sunday versus Milwaukee, allowing one earned run on five hits and two walks while striking out 10 batters in 6.2 innings.

Advice: Skubal nearly went seven scoreless innings, but he allowed an RBI triple to Brice Turang before being pulled. Skubal dominated the Brewers, inducing 17 swinging strikes and allowing only one extra-base hit, turning in his ninth quality start over his past 10 games. The southpaw has been one of the best pitchers in baseball, compiling a 1.92 ERA and a 0.89 WHIP with 96 strikeouts in 79.2 innings. He is tentatively scheduled for a road start in Houston next weekend. Rotowire.com Sunday, 1:43 pm
