    • Clubs clutch homer Sunday
Rice went 1-for-5 with a three-run home run in a loss to the Orioles on Sunday.

Advice: Rice was hitless through four at-bats but came through when it mattered most, swatting a three-run homer in the ninth inning off Baltimore closer Craig Kimbrel to give New York a 5-3 lead. That result didn't hold, as the Orioles plated three runs in the bottom of the frame to pull out the victory, but Rice's heroics still stand out. While the rookie is batting just .228 on the campaign, he's shown a flair for the big moment, batting .280 with runners in scoring position and already adding a three-homer game to his big-league resume. • Let down by defense in blown save
Holmes (1-4) took the loss and blew the save against Baltimore on Sunday, allowing three unearned runs on two hits and two walks while striking out one batter over two-thirds of an inning.

Advice: In a roller-coaster ninth inning, New York scored three runs in the top of the frame to take a 5-3 lead. Holmes entered to try to close things out in the bottom of the inning but couldn't get the job done, giving up three runs, the final two of which came on a Cedric Mullins walk-off double. Though he didn't pitch particularly well, it would be unfair to pin the blame entirely on Holmes for the dramatic defeat, as a two-out error by Anthony Volpe allowed a run to score and kept the frame alive for Mullins' double, which had an xBA of .150, per Statcast -- Alex Verdugo took a terrible route to the ball and pinned the blame on himself for the result after the game, according to Bryan Hoch of MLB.com. It was nonetheless a poor end to the first half of the campaign for Holmes, who has blown two of his past four save chances while giving up five runs (two earned) across four frames during that span. • Hurting but won't miss start
Suarez won't be available for Tuesday's All-Star Game while he recovers from back tightness, but the Phillies expect him to be available to make his first start of the second half July 22 or 23 in Minnesota, Corey Seidman of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.

Advice: Suarez hasn't been forced to miss any time due to the back issue and likely would have been available to start during the upcoming week if the Phillies needed him, but he'll instead use the All-Star break to heal up while he's less than 100 percent healthy. Though he's in the midst of a career-best season and was looking forward to pitching in his first Midsummer Classic, Suarez clearly hasn't been at his best of late, as he has struggled to an 8.62 ERA, 1.85 WHIP and 13:7 K:BB in 15.2 innings over his last three starts, two of which have come against sub-.500 clubs in the Marlins and Athletics. Suarez won't travel to Arlington, Texas, for the All-Star Game and will instead remain in Philadelphia to continue throwing. Zack Wheeler is also tending to a back issue and will skip the All-Star Game, but both he and Suarez are expected to take the hill in some order when the Phillies next require fourth and fifth starters July 22 and 23. • Goes deep again Sunday
Burleson went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a double in Sunday's 8-3 loss to the Cubs.

Advice: Burleson heads into the All-Star break on a tear with four homers and 11 RBI across his last seven games. The outfielder is up to a .288/.320/.494 slash line, 17 long balls, 53 RBI, 41 runs scored, 14 doubles and seven stolen bases across 89 contests. Burleson still doesn't have one set position, but he's able to maintain a near-everyday role between the corner outfield spots, first base and designated hitter. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:08 pm

    • Wins third straight start
Taillon (7-4) allowed three runs on seven hits and struck out three without walking a batter over 5.2 innings to earn the win Sunday over the Cardinals.

Advice: Taillon came an out shy of his seventh straight quality start, but he was still able to capture his third win in a row. He's also given up a home run in six straight starts, as Alec Burleson tagged him for a solo shot in the sixth inning. Taillon is now at a 3.10 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 75:18 K:BB through 93 innings over 16 starts this season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:45 pm

    • Burleson homers again in loss
Alec Burleson went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in a loss to the Cubs on Sunday.

Advice: Burleson took Jameson Taillon deep in the sixth inning for his 17th home run of the season to go along with 53 RBI and a .288/.320/.494 triple slash. He was an afterthought in the Cardinals’ outfield heading into the season but has proven to be a more than capable MLB starter. The Cardinals should keep his bat in the lineup even if they get fully healthy in the second half of the season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:03 pm

    • Taillon survives in win over Cardinals
Jameson Taillon allowed three runs on seven hits in 5 2/3 innings in a win over the Cardinals on Sunday.

Advice: Taillon allowed just two extra-base hits but nine hard-hit baseballs on the day. He posted an underwhelming 13 percent whiff rate and 22 percent CSW on the day, but will certainly take the win. The veteran has a solid 3.10 ERA on the season and could be an attractive name at the trade deadline. He’s a risky streamer against the Diamondbacks on Sunday after the All-Star break, but he’s pitching well enough to take the gamble. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:01 pm

    • Holmes blows save as Yanks collapse against O’s
Clay Holmes blew the save and took the loss in stunning fashion Sunday against the Orioles.

Advice: Who else is dizzy right now? After entering the bottom of the ninth with a 5-3 lead, Holmes allowed a leadoff single to Kyle Stowers and went on to load the bases with walks to Ryan O’Hearn and Adley Rutschman before an error from Anthony Volpe allowed a run to score. Cedric Mullins then poked a ball to left field, which landed over the head of Alex Verdugo after he stumbled. Given the stakes, it’s hard to think of a more demoralizing loss. The Yankees will have a few days to dwell on the lost opportunity during the All-Star break. This wasn’t all Holmes’ fault, but he’s not exactly in the circle of trust right now. • Rice hits go-ahead shot before Yankees collapse
Ben Rice socked a go-ahead three-run homer in the top of the ninth inning before the Yankees collapsed against the Orioles on Sunday.

Advice: This one was a rollercoaster ride. Craig Kimbrel walked back-to-back batters to begin the ninth and Rice made him pay on a pitch which got a little too much of the plate. The good feelings didn’t last long, though, as the Orioles staged a comeback of their own in the bottom of the ninth. As for Rice, he now has six homers through his first 24 major league games and he continues to find himself in some prime real estate in the Yankees’ lineup. He’s well worth a pickup in leagues where he’s still available.
