    • Beginning mound work Wednesday
Phillips (hamstring) will throw a bullpen session Wednesday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Phillips has been on the injured list with a strained right hamstring since May 5, and he resumed playing catch Friday. He will presumably throw multiple bullpen sessions before progressing to facing live hitters, though he shouldn't take long to build back up as a reliever. Rotowire.com 3 minutes ago

    • Evan Phillips to throw bullpen session Wednesday
Evan Phillips (hamstring) is slated to throw a bullpen session on Wednesday.

Advice: It’s the first time throwing off a mound for Phillips since hitting the injured list back in early May with a Grade 1 right hamstring strain. The hope is that the 29-year-old elite stopper won’t need a rehab assignment before returning to Los Angeles’ bullpen. Rotoworld 18 minutes ago

    • Trevor Williams finally allows homer on Tuesday
Trevor Williams was charged with three runs (one earned) over five innings on Tuesday in a no-decision against the White Sox.

Advice: Williams went 37 2/3 innings over seven starts to open the season before finally coughing up a homer when White Sox slugger Eloy Jiménez took him deep into the second inning. The 32-year-old righty hasn’t generated enough strikeouts to make a significant impact for fantasy managers, but he’s been a nice back-end rotation stabilizer in deeper mixed leagues. He’ll bring a sparkling 1.94 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 32/13 K/BB ratio across 41 2/3 innings (eight starts) into a road matchup on Sunday against the Phillies at hitter-friendly Citizens Bank Park. • Blows save Monday
Diaz (1-2) allowed two runs on a hit, a hit batsman and two walks without striking out a batter in one-third of an inning to take the loss and a blown save Monday versus the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Diaz loaded the bases with back-to-back one-out walks, and Kevin Newman delivered the walk-off two-run single. This was Diaz's first blown save since his season debut, but he's hardly been dominant lately, allowing seven runs with a 5:6 K:BB over his last 3.2 innings. The closer has a 6.75 ERA, 1.64 WHIP and 16:12 K:BB while converting seven of nine save chances through 14.2 innings on the year. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:41 pm

    • Goes deep in victory
Arenado went 1-for-5 with a solo home run and an additional run scored in Monday's 10-5 victory versus the Angels.

Advice: The Cardinals were shut out over six innings before Arenado ignited an eight-run seventh with an inning-opening solo shot to left field. The long ball was just his third of the season and marked only his second extra-base hit over his past seven games. Aside from the lack of power, Arenado hasn't been far off his usual level of production, slashing .268/.327/.386 with 21 RBI and 15 runs through 40 games. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:04 pm

    • Teoscar Hernández goes 0-for-5 against Giants
Teoscar Hernández finished 0-for-5 with three strikeouts against the Giants on Monday.

Advice: Hernández is having a terrific fantasy campaign with his 11 homers and 33 RBI in 43 games, but the .244 average, .307 OBP and 30.6% strikeout rate aren’t exactly encouraging. It’s a good thing he plays for the Dodgers, because Statcast thinks he’d have fewer homers hitting anywhere else and he also probably wouldn’t be batting with as many runners on base. • Alexis Díaz blows save, gets loss vs. Diamondbacks
Alexis Díaz blew a save while picking up a loss Monday by allowing two runs and getting just one out Monday against the Diamondbacks.

Advice: The Díaz experience in 2024 has been interesting, to say the least, and probably is too kind of a description. The right-hander threw 9-of-21 pitches for strikes while issuing a pair of walks, and he gave up a two-run single to blow his second save and pick up his second loss. It seems likely that Díaz will remain the closer, but this does not look like the strong option that he was in 2023. Not yet, anyway. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:06 pm

    • Nolan Arenado hits solo shot in win over Angels
Nolan Arenado hit a solo homer Monday in a victory over the Angels.

Advice: The Cardinals trailed 4-0 entering the seventh inning. Arenado got St. Louis on the board with a solo shot in that frame. Nine more runs would score for the Cardinals. The Angels might not be very good. Arenado now has three homers and 21 RBI at the quarter mark. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:33 pm

    • Nationals-White Sox postponed
Williams and the Nationals won't play Monday against the White Sox after the game was postponed due to inclement weather in Chicago, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

Advice: The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader Tuesday. Williams' next start will simply be pushed back a day to one half of the twin bill, and the White Sox will do the same with their scheduled starter for Monday, Chris Flexen. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:45 pm
