    • Report: Yankees might eye lefty relievers
According to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, it “would be ideal” for the Yankees to pursue a “wipeout lefty” before the trade deadline.

Advice: Rosenthal specifically mentions Marlins’ Tanner Scott or Andrew Nardi and acknowledges that “The acquisition cost for a pre-arbitration reliever such as Nardi...would be considerably higher.” He also mentions that the Yankees would be open to high-strikeout-rate right-handed relievers as well, but a lefty is an ideal fit. This, of course, highlights one of the threats to Tanner Scott’s fantasy value as he would almost certainly lose his closer role if he were traded to the Yankees. You’re unlikely to get much for Scott in a trade in fantasy leagues, but his time as a closer appears to be running out with the trade deadline looming. Rotoworld 7 minutes ago
    • Homers in blowout loss
Profar went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's loss to the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Profar took Tommy Henry deep in the third inning for his second home run over his last three games. Since May 28, the switch hitter has racked up five multi-hit performances while slashing .349/.431/.605 with three homers, 11 RBI, six runs and a 6:9 BB:K in 50 plate appearances. The 31-year-old continues to be one of the toughest outs at the plate in all of baseball, as his .325 average currently ranks second in the league. Rotowire.com Today, 6:52 am

    • Strong rehab start
Scherzer (back/arm) allowed one hit and one walk while striking out five over four scoreless innings in a rehab start for Triple-A Round Rock on Sunday.

Advice: Scherzer restarted a rehab assignment after experiencing a setback late in April. He cruised through 53 pitches (37 strikes), induced 14 whiffs, and registered a fastball velocity of 94.8 mph, per Kennedi Landry of MLB.com. Rotowire.com Today, 6:29 am

    • Not a viable option Sunday
Soto (forearm) "probably" wasn't available Sunday, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.

Advice: Soto went through his normal pregame routine in the hopes of entering Sunday's game as a pinch hitter. Manager Aaron Boone indicated after the contest that work went well, but that Soto still wasn't likely to appear. That leaves his status murky heading into Monday's matchup against the Royals. • Fires seven innings
Kirby allowed a run on five hits over seven innings in a no-decision Sunday. He struck out four during the win over the Royals.

Advice: The lone run to score on Kirby came via a sacrifice bunt in the fifth inning. After a shaky stretch in May, he's back to looking like his usual self recently; over his last three starts, Kirby has posted a 2.00 ERA and 21:1 K:BB. He was in line for the win after his seventh quality start of 2024 before the Royals tied up the game in the ninth inning. Kirby is now sporting a 3.81 ERA with a terrific 78:7 K:BB through 80.1 frames. His next start is lined up to be at home against the Rangers. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:32 pm

    • Triples, drives in two
Langford went 2-for-4 with a triple and two RBI during Sunday's win over the Giants.

Advice: Langford recorded his fourth multi-hit game in the last nine while collecting his fifth and sixth RBI over that same span. Langford is starting to show some positive signs after a slow start to the season, lifting his average to .234 with Sunday's effort and hitting .286 with a double and two triples over this most recent nine-game stretch. • George Kibry strong for seven against Royals
George Kirby pitched seven innings of one-run ball Sunday against the Royals.

Advice: Kirby was in line for the win when he left, but a two-run lead was blown in the bottom of the ninth. Kirby has allowed a total of four runs in his last three starts, lowering his ERA from 4.33 to 3.81. He went without walking a batter today, and his K/BB stands at 78/7 through 80 1/3 innings. • Jurickson Profar leaves the yard in loss Sunday
Jurickson Profar socked his 10th dinger of the season on Sunday afternoon in a lopsided loss to the Diamondbacks.

Advice: The 31-year-old outfielder continued his hot-hitting ways, crushing a 384-foot (102.5 mph EV) solo shot off of Tommy Henry in the third inning, pulling the Padres to within four runs at 7-3. That would be as close as they would get. Profar also singled in the contest, finishing the afternoon 2-for-4. He’s now slashing an unbelievable .325/.420/.504 with 10 homers, 43 RBI and four stolen bases on the season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 5:21 pm

    • Blows second save
Alvarado (1-3) suffered the loss Sunday, allowing three runs (two earned) on two hits and two walks over two-thirds of an inning against the Mets. He struck out two.

Advice: Alvarado entered the game with a one-run lead looking to preserve his 12th save, but things went downhill quickly. After allowing a walk and a single to start the inning, an infield single by Mark Vientos tied the game. Then with the bases loaded and one out, a hit-by-pitch followed by a passed ball allowed two more runners to score, saddling Alvarado with his second blown save and third loss of the season. Sunday's outing came on the heels of five consecutive scoreless appearances since his last blown save, which came May 24 in Colorado. The outing lifted Alvarado's ERA to 3.54 with a 1.14 WHIP and 31 strikeouts through 28 innings this season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:59 pm
