    • Squanders save chance
Banks blew the save Sunday against the Red Sox, allowing one run on one hit with one strikeout during the ninth inning.

Advice: Despite the White Sox's fluid closer role, Banks hadn't seen much ninth-inning work this season but took the mound Sunday with a one-run lead. He couldn't convert what would've been his second save of 2024, as he allowed a leadoff double to David Hamilton, who stole third and was brought home on a sacrifice fly by Reese McGuire to send the game to extras. While it's worth noting that Banks received a save chance, it's tough to project who'll receive ninth-inning work. Rotowire.com 35 minutes ago

    • Andrés Muñoz gets hold in return from sore back
Andrés Muñoz, who hadn’t pitched since aggravating his back Tuesday, returned to the mound with a scoreless eighth inning Sunday against the Royals.

Advice: Rather than save him for the ninth, the Mariners opted to use Muñoz against the top of the Royals order in the eighth with a two-run lead today. Muñoz did his part, but Michael Baumann went on to give up a game-tying homer in the bottom of the ninth. The Mariners went on to win in the 10th, with Tayler Saucedo collecting a one-out save. Ryne Stanek, typically the primary alternative to Muñoz, went unused for a second straight day after throwing 39 pitches between Thursday and Friday. Rotoworld 40 minutes ago
    • Cole Ragans surrenders one run in no-decision
Cole Ragans limited the Mariners to one run in six innings and struck out nine in a no-decision Sunday.

Advice: The Ragans-George Kirby matchup met expectations, resulting in a 1-1 tie when Ragans departed. Ragans allowed one run or fewer for the eighth time in 14 starts this season. His two bad outings this year have been particularly bad, accounting for 14 of the 27 earned runs he’s allowed, but he’s been terrific overall and should have been than a 4-4 record to show for it. • James McArthur gives up three runs to take loss
James McArthur took a loss to the Mariners on Sunday after allowing three runs — two earned — in the 10th inning.

Advice: It was his third appearance in four days. McArthur had been perfect in three outings since a disastrous May 31 outing in which he gave up four runs without retiring a batter to take a blown save. This pushes his ERA back up to 5.27, and the Royals are going to have start thinking about giving John Schreiber save chances. Rotoworld 40 minutes ago
    • Another solid showing
Flexen didn't factor into the decision Sunday against the Red Sox, allowing two runs on two hits and two walks across five innings. He struck out three.

Advice: Both of the hits Flexen allowed went for extra-bases, with David Hamilton notching a solo homer in the fifth inning and Jarren Duran logging a triple in the fourth. In his last three starts, Flexen has allowed nine total hits and owns a 3.00 ERA with 13 strikeouts across 15.0 innings. He'll look to keep rolling in a projected start against the Diamondbacks on Friday. Rotowire.com 48 minutes ago

    • Nails six-out win
Jansen (2-1) picked up the win Sunday against the White Sox, allowing one hit and no walks with five strikeouts over two innings.

Advice: Jansen has made just one appearance since May 26 and the Red Sox made use of his fresh arm Sunday, bringing him in for the eighth and ninth innings with Boston trailing by one. The closer hadn't gone more than one inning in an appearance this season and set a career high in strikeouts, surpassing three Ks for the first time since 2017. Jansen is 9-of-10 in save chances and owns a 2.61 ERA. Rotowire.com 57 minutes ago
    • Carlos Estévez earns victory against Astros Sunday
Carlos Estévez picked up his first victory of the season on Sunday, working a scoreless ninth inning in a tied game against the Astros.

Advice: The 31-year-old hurler came on to work the top half of the ninth inning after the Angels had rallied to score two runs in the eighth to tie the game. Estevez retired the side in order — including a strikeout of Yainer Diaz — then became the beneficiary when the Angels walked it off in the home half of the inning. On the season, he sports a 4.05 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and a 19/3 K/BB ratio over 20 innings while recording 10 saves in 13 chances. Rotoworld Today, 4:54 pm
    • Chris Flexen holds Red Sox to two runs
Chris Flexen was uninvolved in the decision Sunday after allowing two runs in five innings versus the Red Sox.

Advice: This makes three straight solid outings for Flexen, though he hasn’t pitched more than five innings in any of them. He also hasn’t won since May 8. Still, he has a reasonable 4.47 ERA in nine starts since rejoining the White Sox rotation in late April. Rotoworld Today, 4:46 pm

    • Tanner Banks blows save chance in ninth
Tanner Banks got the call in the ninth Sunday against the Red Sox, but he blew the save by giving up a run.

Advice: Michael Kopech was unavailable after throwing 33 pitches Saturday, and the White Sox also decided against using Jordan Leasure, who threw 16 pitches in that one. Banks, on the other hand, did work for a second straight day after throwing 22 pitches last night. He gave up a run through a double, a stolen base and a sac fly. Kopech and Leasure remain the top two choices for saves in Chicago. Rotoworld Today, 4:46 pm
