    • Logs third steal
Smith went 1-for-3 with a hit-by-pitch one RBI and a stolen base in Tuesday's 4-2 win over the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Smith got the Rangers on the board with an RBI single in the third inning. He also stole second in the eighth after he was plunked. Smith has gone 13-for-43 (.302) with two steals over his last 12 contests. During that stretch, Smith has been promoted to the No. 3 spot in the order. He's slashing a sharp .280/.379/.409 with two home runs, three steals, 21 RBI and 24 runs scored over 190 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Today, 9:10 pm

    • Jeremy Peña fans four times in loss
Jeremy Peña struck out all four times he was up Monday in the loss to the Mariners.

Advice: That’s as many strikeouts as he totaled in his previous eight games. Peña is having a great season, but this was not his night. We’d still say it’s past time for the Astros to start batting him ahead of Alex Bregman in the order. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:31 pm

    • Oneil Cruz gets breather against Atlanta on Sunday
Oneil Cruz is not in the starting lineup Sunday against Atlanta.

Advice: Cruz will get a break from the lineup for the first time in seven games. The talented shortstop will receive his breather with Alika Williams getting the start at shortstop against Chris Sale and Atlanta. Rotoworld Sunday, 9:11 am

    • Receiving breather Sunday
Cruz is out of the lineup for Sunday's game versus Atlanta, Kevin Gorman of TribLive.com reports.

Advice: Lefty Chris Sale is taking the mound Sunday for Atlanta, and Cruz will head to the bench after starting the previous six games. The shortstop has been scuffling at the plate recently with a .488 OPS and 43.6 percent strikeout rate in his past nine contests. Alika Williams is starting at shortstop and batting ninth Sunday. • Moves up order
Smith batted third and went 1-for-3 in Friday's 3-2 loss to the Twins.

Advice: Smith, who made a 10th consecutive start, batted out of the three hole for a second straight game. Earlier in the week, he batted cleanup. He's been an under-the-radar producer for the Rangers, ranking second among the team's regulars with a .782 OPS, and he has been rewarded with a promotion in the order against right-handers. • Records two hits in return
Swanson (knee) went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored in Tuesday's 4-3, extra-inning win over Atlanta.

Advice: Swanson was activated from the 10-day injured list Monday night and he made his return to the lineup Tuesday after missing two weeks. The shortstop hit the ground running against his former team, though he's been off to a slow start overall with just a .218 batting average across 38 games. Swanson should still see regular playing time moving forward despite his struggles, and he's talented enough to heat up in a hurry. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 8:10 pm

    • Oneil Cruz sets Statcast record on 3 hits in win
Oneil Cruz went 3-for-5 with one RBI in a win over the Giants on Tuesday.

Advice: All three of Cruz’s hits were blasted with a 121.5 mph double, a 120.4 mph single, and a 116.3 mph double. He’s now the first player in the Statcast era to have three hits in one game over 115 mph, and his 121.5 mph double is the hardest-hit ball in MLB action this year, topping the 120.4 mph single he hit earlier in the game today. That’s quite a performance. Cruz is 19-for-64 (.297) in May with four home runs, 10 runs scored, and 11 RBI. He does have 18 strikeouts in 16 games, but his production has certainly started to tick up and if stolen bases follow, we could see a full breakout. Rotoworld Tuesday, 7:24 pm

    • Logs steal in loss
Pena went 1-for-4 with a stolen base and a run scored in Monday's 9-7 loss to the Angels.

Advice: Pena is hitting .324 (23-for-71) over 19 games in May. It hasn't been a totally empty average -- he's picked up five extra-base hits, three steals, nine RBI and 14 runs scored. The shortstop is slashing .326/.365/.457 with seven steals, five homers, 20 RBI and 30 runs through 48 contests overall. He's in an everyday role and on pace for a 20-steal season, so there's a fair amount to like about Pena's game in his third major-league season. Rotowire.com May 20, 10:50 pm

    • Officially activated
Swanson (knee) was activated from the 10-day injured list Monday night, per MLB's transaction log.

Advice: Swanson was expected to be activated prior to Tuesday's game against Atlanta, and the team has elected to make the move official a bit earlier than anticipated despite not having a game Monday. Miles Mastrobuoni and Pete Crow-Armstrong were optioned to Triple-A Iowa in corresponding moves, making room for the upcoming promotion of Luis Vazquez. Rotowire.com May 20, 5:06 pm
