      Gerrit Cole (elbow) will face hitters again on Thursday in a live batting practice session.

      Advice: It’ll be the third time that Cole faces hitters as he continues ramping up his progression towards a potential June return to New York’s starting rotation.       King allowed one run on three hits and one walk while striking out seven batters over five innings in a no-decision against Miami on Monday.

      Advice: King pitched very well in the outing, but San Diego wasn't able to put its second run on the board until the seventh frame, preventing him from picking up a second consecutive victory. The only run the right-hander allowed came on a third-inning homer by Jazz Chisholm. King has given up one or zero runs in three of his past five starts and has racked up a 34:8 K:BB across 30 innings over that span. He's tentatively slated to make his next start in Kansas City.     • King strikes out seven in no-decision Monday
      Michael King allowed one run in five innings and got a no-decision in the Padres’ 2-1 victory over the Marlins on Monday.



      Advice: King allowed three hits, one walk and struck out seven. He left the game with the score tied after five innings. King’s ERA is now 4.09 on the season. His 74 strikeouts this year rank among the top 10 in all of baseball. The 29-year-old right-hander is set to face the Royals on the road this weekend.

    • Leaves early with neck spasms
      Bassitt (5-6) prematurely left Monday's game against the White Sox with neck spasms, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports. He allowed five hits and zero walks while striking out seven over five scoreless innings, earning the win.

      Advice: It was reported after the game that Bassitt was questionable to start due to the injury, but he toughed it out and pitched five dominant innings. It is encouraging that the 36-year-old was able to play through the injury, but the severity is still unknown. The right-hander will try to heal up for his next start, tentatively scheduled for this weekend versus Pittsburgh. Rotowire.com Monday, 5:59 pm

      The Blue Jays said Chris Bassitt was pulled after five innings Monday because of neck spasms.

      Chris Bassitt recorded seven strikeouts over five shutout innings on Monday in a win over the White Sox.

      Advice: Bassitt looked really sharp in his second consecutive outing against Chicago, scattering five hits and needing just 81 pitches (52 strikes) to complete five frames in this one. He generated 11 swinging strikes and finished with a solid 35 percent CSW. He’ll bring a pedestrian 4.03 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 56/25 K/BB ratio across 60 1/3 innings (11 starts) into a home matchup on Sunday against the Pirates. Rotoworld Monday, 1:54 pm
       
    • Sharp outing against Yankees
      Musgrove did not factor into the decision in Sunday's win over the Yankees, allowing one run on six hits and no walks while striking out five over 5.1 innings.

      Advice: Musgrove blanked the Yankees through five before Juan Soto finally opened up the scoring with a one-out RBI double in the sixth that prompted Musgrove's exit after 87 pitches. Despite remaining winless since April 21, Sunday's start was an encouraging showing and one of Musgrove's best starts in what's been a tough season for him so far.     • Tanner Houck strong for six innings in no-decision
      Tanner Houck pitched six innings of one-run ball against the Brewers on Sunday.

      Advice: Houck struck out seven and walked none in his latest excellent outing. Alas, he didn’t get the victory, as the Red Sox only scored their second run in the bottom of the eighth.       Houck did not factor into the decision Sunday against Milwaukee, allowing one earned run on seven hits and one walk through six innings. He struck out seven.

      Advice: Houck was excellent yet again, marking his third consecutive start allowing one earned run or fewer. The 27-year-old has not allowed a home run since April 12, and his microscopic 0.14 HR/9 leads the league. Houck (4-5) now owns a 1.90 ERA and 0.99 WHIP in 71 innings this year.
