• Spencer Steer goes 0-for-4 against Cardinals
Spencer Steer went 0-for-4 in Wednesday’s loss to the Cardinals, dropping his average to .221.

Advice: Steer is hitting .190/.304/.354 this month. His exit velocity numbers and xBA/xSLG stats are all pretty much the same as last year, so it seems likely that he’ll rebound, hopefully in short order. Rotoworld Today, 1:40 pm

  • Losing out on regular role
Meneses is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against Atlanta, Bobby Blanco of MASNSports.com reports.

Advice: Though he kept his spot on the 26-man active roster when the Nationals brought back Lane Thomas (knee) from the injured list Monday, Meneses appears to be the odd man out of the starting nine in the wake of the outfielder's return. With Jesse Winker has served as the Nationals' designated hitter in two of the three games in Atlanta while Joey Gallo has started at first base twice during the series, closing off Meneses' primary avenues to playing time. Meneses should still have a spot in the lineup versus lefties, but the lefty-hitting Winker and Gallo appear poised to start ahead of him against righties. Rotowire.com Today, 1:33 pm

  • Exits after HBP on hand
Alonso was removed from Wednesday's game against the Dodgers after being hit on the right hand by a pitch in the first inning, David Lennon of Newsday reports.

Advice: A 93 mile-per-hour four-seamer struck Alonso, and he was lifted for a pinch runner after taking his base. The big first baseman is surely headed for X-rays, with an update on his condition from the Mets likely to come later Wednesday. Rotowire.com Today, 1:32 pm

  • Pete Alonso (hand) leaves game after hit-by-pitch
Pete Alonso was removed from Wednesday afternoon’s game against the Dodgers after being hit on the right hand by a pitch from James Paxton.

Advice: Paxton came up and in with a 93-mph fastball in the opening inning that clipped Alonso on his right hand. He’ll presumably head for X-rays to see if there’s any structural damage. All Mets’ fans and fantasy managers can do now is wait and hope for the best. The Mets should have an update on the 29-year-old slugger’s status shortly. Rotoworld Today, 1:25 pm

  • Out against right-hander
Aranda is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Athletics, Ryan Bass of Bally Sports Sun reports.

Advice: Aranda started nine of the first 10 games upon his return from the injured list but has now been out of the lineup for two of the last three contests. Harold Ramirez will occupy the designated hitter slot Wednesday while Aranda begins the game on the bench. Rotowire.com Today, 1:24 pm

  • Joey Meneses not in Nationals lineup Wednesday
Joey Meneses is not in the Nationals’ starting lineup for Wednesday’s showdown against the Braves.

Advice: It looks to be just a regular day of rest for the light-hitting first baseman, though after he went 3-for-3 on Tuesday night the timing is a bit curious. Joey Gallo will start in his place at first base and will bat eighth for the Nationals on Wednesday against Braves’ rookie right-hander Spencer Schwellenbach. Rotoworld Today, 1:21 pm

  • Getting Wednesday off
Davis is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rays.

Advice: Davis will hit the bench after he went 1-for-6 at the dish while starting in both of the past two games. Tyler Soderstrom will step in for Davis at first base. Rotowire.com Today, 1:21 pm

  • Tyler Soderstrom starts at first base for A’s
Tyler Soderstrom is in Oakland’s lineup Wednesday for just the second time in six games.

Advice: It’s kind of surprising that the 22-year-old Soderstrom is still with the major league club, especially since the A’s still at least nominally view him as a catcher — 21 of his 27 Triple-A starts came at the position — and he’s just serving a backup first baseman right now. He’s hit .205/.296/.359 in 44 plate appearances since being recalled May 8. He started nine of the first 13 games after the callup, all of them at first base, but he’s even sitting against most righties lately. Rotoworld Today, 12:29 pm

  • Out of lineup for second game
Urshela is out of the lineup for the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Pirates, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

Advice: Urshela went 1-for-4 with an RBI single in the Tigers' 8-0 win in Game 1 but will get a breather for the second game of the day. Matt Vierling will replace Urshela at third base. Rotowire.com Today, 12:17 pm
