• Slugs 10th homer
Vierling went 2-for-4 with a home run and two runs scored in a 6-2 loss to the Phillies on Wednesday.

Advice: Vierling took Spencer Turnbull deep in the second pitch of the game for his second leadoff blast this season. Vierling now has 10 home runs through 72 games this season, which matches his career high from last season in 134 games. The 27-year-old has been hitting leadoff nearly every day for almost a month now and carries a .254/.288/.449 line for the season. Rotowire.com Today, 1:52 pm

  • Andrew McCutchen hits two-run homer to sink Reds
Andrew McCutchen belted a two-run homer on Wednesday, lifting the Pirates to a 6-1 win over the Reds.

Advice: McCutchen gave Pittsburgh a commanding three-run advantage, which they never relinquished, courtesy of a fifth-inning tater off Reds starter Graham Ashcraft. It was his lone hit in five at-bats in the contest, but it was a big difference-maker. McCutchen’s halcyon days as a game-changing five-category impact fantasy contributor are long in the past, but he’s more than held his own at 37 years old this season coming off last year’s major Achilles injury. He’s up to 11 homers and has also chipped in a pair of stolen bases as well. Rotoworld Today, 1:44 pm
  • Bryan Reynolds extends hitting streak to 23 games
Bryan Reynolds extended his hitting streak to 23 consecutive games on Wednesday in the Pirates’ victory over the Reds.

Advice: Reynolds officially owns the longest hit streak of the 2024 campaign after a first-inning single on Wednesday afternoon against Reds starter Graham Ashcraft. It was his lone hit in five at-bats, but the fact that he got it out of the way right out of the gate took all of the drama out of this one. The 29-year-old outfielder is in the midst of a stellar stetch at the dish, batting .323 (40-for-124) with seven homers and one steal over his last 30 games. Rotoworld Today, 1:43 pm

  • Teoscar Hernandez returns to Dodgers’ lineup
Teoscar Hernández (personal) returned to the Dodgers’ lineup for Wednesday’s contest against the White Sox.

Advice: The 31-year-old outfielder missed each of the team’s previous two games while attending to a personal matter in the Dominican Republic. Hernández will start in left field and will bat second for the Dodgers against Erick Fedde and the White Sox on Wednesday evening in Chicago. Rotoworld Today, 1:37 pm
  • Returns to lineup Wednesday
Hernandez (personal) will start in left field and bat second in Wednesday's game versus the White Sox.

Advice: Hernandez was unavailable for the first two games of the series as he dealt with personal matters in his native Dominican Republic. He rejoined the team Wednesday and will re-enter the lineup for the series finale in Chicago, occupying the No. 2 spot in the batting order for the second time all season. Rotowire.com Today, 1:35 pm
  • Matt Vierling clobbers leadoff home run in loss
Matt Vierling clobbered a leadoff home run off of Spencer Turnbull on Wednesday afternoon, but it wasn’t enough to lead the Tigers past the Phillies.

Advice: The 27-year-old slugger evened the score at a run apiece when he crushed the second pitch that Turnbull threw for a 413-foot (106.1 mph EV) solo shot to start the home half of the first inning. He also smacked a leadoff double off of Jose Alvarado to start the ninth inning, finishing the day 2-for-4. For the season, Vierling is now hitting .254/.288/.449 with 10 dingers and 32 RBI. • Guardians recall Jhonkensy Noel to make MLB debut
Guardians recalled OF Jhonkensy Noel from Triple-A Columbus.

Advice: Noel had an 1.156 OPS for Columbus this month, putting him at .295/.359/.578 with 18 homers for the season. It’s unclear how much of a role the Guardians will carve out for him versus righties, but he should definitely be the right fielder against lefties. He struggled to hit for average in previous years, and he’s a zero when it comes to steals, so he’ll need to keep showing plenty of power in order to be useful in fantasy leagues. • Summoned to big leagues
The Guardians recalled Noel from Triple-A Columbus on Wednesday. He'll start at first base and bat sixth in the Guardians' series finale in Baltimore.

Advice: Noel will hit the big leagues for the first time. The 22-year-old slashed .295/.359/.578 with 18 home runs over 65 games with Columbus this season. Much of that production has come since the start of May, with Noel producing a .343/.404/.651 line with 14 home runs in 43 contests over that stretch. Noel has also struck out at just an 18.1-percent rate since May 1, which is a positive development for a player who has often struggled to make contact during his minor-league career. While he can handle first base and the corner outfield spots in a pinch, Noel's best shot at consistent playing time in Cleveland could come at designated hitter. Rotowire.com Today, 12:05 pm

  • Regaining playing time
Bauers will start at first base and bat fifth in Wednesday's game against the Rangers.

Advice: Bauers will be included in the lineup for the second game in a row and for the third time in four games after producing three hits over his prior two starts. The 29-year-old is still getting on base at a lowly .279 clip for the season, so despite seeing his playing time trend upward of late, he's hardly locked into an everyday role for Milwaukee.
