Witt went 3-for-3 with a home run, two RBI, two runs scored and a walk in Friday's win over the White Sox.

Advice: Witt picked up where he left off after a terrific first half by belting a solo homer in the first inning. He later knocked an RBI single in the third and scored another run during the Royals' five-run fifth. Witt has been unstoppable over the last few weeks; in 13 games since June 30, he's slashing .471/.482/.863 with nine extra-base hits. For the season, Witt owns a .944 OPS with 65 RBI, 22 steals, and 17 home runs through 429 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Today, 5:08 am
    • Bobby Witt Jr. goes 3-for-3, hits 17th homer
Bobby Witt Jr. finished 3-for-3 with a homer, two RBI and a walk versus the White Sox on Friday.

Advice: Witt hit just one homer in his final 24 games in June, but this gives him five in 12 games in July. It’s a bummer that his stolen base pace has slowed — he has just one steal in a month — but 30/30 remains possible with him sitting at 17 homers and 22 steals through 98 games. • Zach Eflin gives up five runs to Yankees in loss
Zach Eflin surrendered five runs — four earned — in five innings Friday in a loss to the Yankees.

Advice: Eflin wasn’t hit overly hard, but he made his own trouble with an unusual four walks tonight. He had issued a total of nine walks in 99 1/3 innings coming into this one, but maybe the nine days’ rest threw him off a bit. He dropped to 5-7 with a 4.14 ERA in advance of his next start versus the Blue Jays. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:20 pm
    • Coughs up five runs in loss
Bassitt (8-8) took the loss Friday against the Tigers, allowing five runs on seven hits and one walk over 6.2 innings. He struck out six.

Advice: With this outing, the Toronto right-hander continued his run of poor performance that saw him yield seven runs across 10 innings in his last two outings before the All-Star break. Bassitt allowed multiple homers for the first time since April 26 against the Dodgers, as Mark Canha and Wenceel Perez each hit two-run shots. The veteran pitcher's ERA now stands at 3.71 over 114 innings this season. Bassitt currently lines up to make his next start against the Rays at home. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:28 pm
    • Struggles with control in loss
Eflin (5-7) took the loss Friday against the Yankees, allowing five runs (four earned) on seven hits and four walks over five innings. He struck out five.

Advice: The Rays right-hander labored in Yankee Stadium, issuing a season-worst four walks. Before this outing, Eflin hadn't granted four free passes in an appearance since Sept. 23, 2019, when a member of the Phillies' rotation. After opening the season with a 3.75 ERA across his first eight starts, the 30-year-old hasn't been as sharp over his last 10 outings, pitching to a 4.47 ERA and 44:9 K:BB in 56.1 innings. Eflin is currently scheduled to make his next start against the Blue Jays in Toronto. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:17 pm
    • Chris Bassitt gives up five runs in loss on Friday
Chris Bassitt struggled to keep the ball in the yard in Friday night’s loss to the Tigers, surrendering five runs on seven hits over his 6 2/3 innings of work.

Advice: Bassitt racked up six strikeouts on the evening while issuing only one free pass. The Tigers got to him for three runs in the fourth inning as Riley Greene smacked an RBI single and Mark Canha followed with a two-run blast. Wenceel Perez then tagged him for a two-run shot to chase him in the seventh inning. Bassitt got 10 swings and misses on 95 pitches on the night, posting a CSW of 32 percent. He’ll look to improve upon his 3.71 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 106/46 K/BB ratio (114 innings) when he does battle against the Rays on Thursday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:48 pm
    • Stumbles vs. Arizona
Steele (2-4) took the loss Friday against the Diamondbacks, allowing five runs on nine hits and two walks over 4.2 innings. He struck out six.

Advice: It was a tough start to the second half for Steele, who allowed a season-high nine hits en route to his first loss since June 7. The left-hander delivered seven straight quality starts prior to the All-Star break, posting a stellar 1.65 ERA in that span (49 innings). Steele's ERA now sits at 3.07 with a 1.02 WHIP and 87:20 K:BB across 15 starts (91 innings) this season. He'll look to get back on track in his next outing, currently scheduled for next week at home against Milwaukee. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:04 pm

    • Justin Steele surrenders five runs in defeat
Justin Steele was tagged for five runs in 4 2/3 innings by the Diamondbacks on Friday.

Advice: There goes the two-game win streak. It’s the fifth time this season that Steele has allowed as many as five runs. The other four all came in a five-start span in May and June, so hopefully that doesn’t repeat. He’d given up a total of 11 runs in his previous seven starts. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:26 pm

    • Ranger Suárez (back) feeling much improved Friday
Ranger Suárez (back) threw off of flat ground on Wednesday and Friday and said that his back feels much improved.

Advice: Suárez told reporters on Friday, “I feel as healthy as a kid”. He’s still not going to start any of the team’s first three games out of the All-Star break, but it sounds like he could be good to go for one of the first two contests against the Twins to start next week.
