      Advice: Musgrove blanked the Yankees through five before Juan Soto finally opened up the scoring with a one-out RBI double in the sixth that prompted Musgrove's exit after 87 pitches. Despite remaining winless since April 21, Sunday's start was an encouraging showing and one of Musgrove's best starts in what's been a tough season for him so far.     • Joe Musgrove pitches well in no-decision vs. Yanks
      Joe Musgrove looked sharp in a no-decision against the Yankees on Sunday afternoon, surrendering just one run on six hits over his 5 1/3 innings.

      Advice: The 31-year-old hurler struck out five batters on the afternoon and didn’t issue a base on balls. He kept the Yankees off the board through the first five innings until Juan Soto broke through with a one-out RBI double in the sixth that chased Musgrove from the ballgame. The Padres would go on to score four times in their half of the sixth inning, but Musgrove wouldn’t benefit. He generated 10 swings and misses on 87 pitches on the day, registering a solid CSW of 29 percent. He’ll look to build off of this start as he carries a 5.66 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and a 44/15 K/BB ratio (49 1/3 innings) into Saturday’s start against the Royals in Kansas City.       Miller notched his 10th save of the season Saturday, striking out the side in a 4-1 win over the Astros.

      Advice: Miller was coming off his worst appearance of the season his last time out against the Rockies, but he had no such trouble in this one. The flamethrower needed 15 pitches to dispose of the Astros in order, topping out at 102.2 mph with his fastball. Miller has struck out multiple batters in 14 of 18 outings this season.       Keller (6-3) picked up the victory Saturday against Atlanta, allowing just one run on six hits over 6.2 innings. He registered four strikeouts.

      Advice: Keller was efficient, needing only 88 pitches to complete his 6.2 frames. Although the right-hander struck out just four, he had a solid 15 whiffs on his 88 offerings. Keller entered May with a 5.18 ERA and no wins in his last three starts. In four outings this month, he's 4-0 with a 1.30 ERA, although the strikeouts haven't been there with only 19 in 33.1 innings.       Mitch Keller gave up just one run over 6 1/3 innings in a win over Atlanta on Saturday.

      Advice: Keller, 28, scattered six hits with four strikeouts against no free passes. The right-hander allowed an RBI single to Jarred Kelenic, but that was it in terms of scoring plays while he was on the bump. Keller has been excellent in May while allowing just four runs over his four starts, and he’s scheduled to begin June with an outing against the Blue Jays next Saturday.     • Mason Miller strikes out side in save vs. Astros
      Mason Miller struck out the side to pick up the save and help the Athletics to a 3-1 win over the Astros on Saturday.

      Advice: How can you not be impressed with what Miller has done? The right-hander threw 15 pitches while fanning the side, and it’s nice to see after he blew the save Thursday against the Rockies while allowing five runs — three of those earned. Miller will have some limitations based on Oakland not being very good and Oakland being very careful with the right-hander, but simply put, he has as good of stuff as any reliever in baseball.     • Stumbles against Brewers
      Crawford (2-3) took the loss Friday, coughing up six runs on seven hits and two walks over 4.1 innings as the Red Sox fell 7-2 to the Brewers. He struck out four.

      Advice: It was the worst performance of the season for the right-hander, who failed to complete five innings for the first time since April 5 and got tagged for more than three earned runs for just the second time in 11 starts. Crawford will take a 2.89 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 61:20 K:BB through 62.1 innings into his next outing, which is scheduled to come on the road next week in Baltimore.       Kelly (shoulder) underwent an MRI earlier this week, and it showed significant healing, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports.

      Advice: The results are encouraging, but the team will have multiple doctors review the images to be sure.     • Kutter Crawford surrenders six runs in defeat
      Kutter Crawford lasted only 4 1/3 innings and gave up six runs Friday in a loss to the Brewers.

      Advice: Crawford allowed only five hard-hit balls on the night, but he couldn’t stop the bleeding in either the third or the fifth, giving up three runs each inning. After opening up with a 0.66 ERA in his first five starts, Crawford has come in at 4.64 in his last six outings. He’ll pitch in Baltimore next time out, making him a mediocre play in mixed leagues.
