      Anderson (7-7) picked up the win Tuesday against Oakland, allowing three runs on five hits and five walks across five innings. He struck out two.

      Advice: Walks have been an especially pertinent issue for Anderson as of late, with Tuesday's start being his third time issuing five free passes in six appearances. Despite finding the strike zone on just 62 of his 109 pitches, Anderson was good enough at limiting damage to pull out his seventh victory of the season. Still, when the A's made contact, they hit Anderson hard. Three of the 34-year-old's five hits surrendered went for extra bases, with Brent Rooker clubbing a solo homer in the fifth frame.       Tyler Anderson allowed three runs over five innings Tuesday in a win over the A’s.

      Advice: Anderson struck out two and walked five tonight, but walks and strikeouts simply haven’t meant anything to him this season.       Ryan allowed four runs on six hits and struck out five without walking a batter over six innings in a no-decision versus the Diamondbacks.

      Advice: Ryan's run of three straight quality starts came to a close, as Arizona got to him early Tuesday. All four runs on his line were surrendered over the first two innings, though he was able to settle down and exit at 86 pitches (58 strikes). This was the fourth time in 2024 that Ryan avoided walking a batter. He's now at a 3.31 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 100:15 K:BB over 98 innings through 16 starts.     • Joe Ryan can’t overcome bad start versus D-backs
      Joe Ryan yielded four runs in six innings Tuesday in a no-decision against the Diamondbacks.

      Advice: All of the runs came in the first two innings. Ryan excelled afterwards, retiring 14 of the final 15 batters he faced. He struck out five and walked none. Ryan’s next start is likely to come Sunday versus the Mariners. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:17 pm
       
    • Nestor Cortes takes tough luck no decision
      Nestor Cortes allowed three runs on five hits in seven innings in a loss to the Yankees on Sunday.

      Advice: Cortes also struck out seven and walked nobody on the day. At times, he looked more electric than Max Fried, and it was Cortes who had more whiffs, getting 17 swings and misses on 49 swings for a 35 percent whiff rate and 36 percent CSW. Unfortunately, he allowed a solo home run to Jarred Kelenic and got himself into trouble in the fifth innings on three hits and a sac fly. It was more good than bad for Cortes on Sunday, and he’ll now take a 3.40 ERA into a solid start against the Blue Jays next weekend. Rotoworld Sunday, 2:31 pm
       
    • Max Fried keeps Yankees bats at bay
      Max Fried allowed one run on six hits in six innings in a win over the Yankees on Sunday.

      Advice: It wasn’t a dominant outing for the left-hander, but he allowed just one extra-base hit all day and was able to pitch his way out of any trouble that he found himself in. He induced just seven whiffs on 39 swings for an 18 percent whiff rate and 26 percent CSW, but that’s a pretty solid day against a good Yankees lineup.     • Paul Skenes strong for seven against Rays
      Paul Skenes was uninvolved in the decision Sunday after allowing one run in seven innings and striking out eight against the Rays.

      Advice: The homer off the bat of Yandy Díaz led off the game. The Rays had no further luck, though, at least not until Skenes left the game to begin the eighth. It’s the first time in eight big-league starts that Skenes has gotten through seven. He still hasn’t taken a loss, and his ERA stands at 2.14. Rotoworld Sunday, 2:14 pm
       
    • Takes loss despite quality start
      Cortes (4-6) was saddled with the loss Sunday, allowing three runs on five hits over seven innings against Atlanta. He struck out seven.

      Advice: Cortes mostly held the Atlanta bats in check to put together his third consecutive quality start and the ninth time this season he's struck out six or more batters, but the Yankees failed to provide any run support and Cortes was left with his sixth loss. Outside of a solo home run by Jarred Kelenic in the third, Cortes' only real trouble came in the fifth, when he allowed two runs on three hits. However, he finished his day strong by retiring all six batters faced in the sixth and seventh. Cortes has tossed 100.2 innings across 17 starts, accumulating 93 strikeouts. He'll take a 3.40 ERA and 1.07 WHIP into his next start, scheduled to take place when the Yankees head to Toronto for a four-game weekend set against the division-rival Blue Jays.       Fried improved to 7-3 on the season in Sunday's 3-1 win over the Yankees, striking out four while allowing one run on six hits and no walks over six innings.

      Advice: Fried kept the Yankees off the board until a solo run crossed in the sixth on an Anthony Volpe double. Three of the six hits Fried allowed came during the sixth, but a timely double play ended the inning and kept Fried in line for his seventh win. Fried has now turned in eight quality starts through 15 outing, and in seventh of those starts, he's gone at least six innings while allowing no more than one earned run.
