      Jordan Romano (elbow) has resumed playing catch.

      Advice: It qualifies as a step in the right direction that Romano was able to resume throwing, albeit light catch, over the weekend, after being shut down last week due to renewed right elbow soreness. The 31-year-old veteran stopper is going to have to build up his throwing program basically from scratch again and is probably going to be out through the upcoming All-Star break.       Romano (elbow) played light catch Monday, Kaitlyn McGrath of The Athletic reports.

      Advice: Romano felt soreness in his right elbow while throwing loss toss from 120 feet this past Friday, so it's a pleasant surprise he's throwing again already, even if only lightly. The veteran reliever has dealt with elbow problems off and on since spring training, so he'll need to clear several hurdles before a timetable for a return can be mapped out.       Finnegan picked up the save Sunday against Colorado, allowing two hits with two strikeouts across a scoreless ninth inning.

      Advice: After blowing the save Saturday night on a pitch clock violation with the bases loaded -- the first time that's happened since MLB introduced the pitch clock -- Finnegan was able to convert for his 22nd save of the campaign Sunday. However, he flirted with danger as Ryan McMahon and Brendan Rodgers hit back-to-back singles to start the final half-inning. Finnegan kept the game-tying run at second and retired three straight to close out the contest. The 32-year-old trails only Ryan Helsley and Emmanuel Clase for the most saves in baseball.       Assad (4-3) allowed four runs on seven hits and a walk while failing to record a strikeout over 4.1 innings, taking the loss Sunday versus the Mets.

      Advice: Assad has failed to complete five innings in four of his last nine starts. The Mets did most of their damage in the third inning, as Francisco Lindor and Brandon Nimmo hit back-to-back home runs to account for three of the four runs on Assad's line. The right-hander is now at a 3.04 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 79:33 K:BB through 83 innings across 16 starts this year. He's projected for a road game in Milwaukee in his next start.       Javier Assad wasn’t at his best in Sunday’s loss to the Mets, surrendering four runs on seven hits across his 4 1/3 innings of work.

      Advice: Assad walked one batter on the evening and did not record a single strikeout. Most of the damage done against him came via the long ball, as Francisco Lindor crushed a two-run homer in the third inning and Brandon Nimmo followed with a solo shot. The Mets also scratched out a run while chasing Assad in the fifth. Assad got just three swings and misses on 90 pitches on the night, posting a CSW of 26 percent.       Advice: The Twins haven't had much need for their bullpen this weekend, as Bailey Ober tossed a complete game Saturday and Pablo Lopez went eight innings Sunday. Jax hadn't pitched since Thursday, so he was a little fresher than Jhoan Duran, who last pitched Friday, which likely explains manager Rocco Baldelli's decision. Jax has done well in a high-leverage role this year, posting a 2.10 ERA, 0.90 WHIP and 46:8 K:BB over 34.1 innings.       Kyle Finnegan recorded his 22nd save in a 2-1 win over the Rockies on Sunday.

      Advice: It was not without drama, which is par for the course with Finnegan’s saves. He allowed back-to-back singles to start the inning, but then got Nolan Jones to strike out, Hunter Goodman to fly out, and caught Michael Toglia looking to end the game. Finnegan has a 2.23 ERA on the season but could lose a significant amount of fantasy value if he gets traded at the deadline.     • Griffin Jax closes out Athletics on Sunday
      Griffin Jax registered his seventh save of the season on Sunday afternoon, working a scoreless ninth inning to protect a three-run lead against the Athletics.

      Advice: It’s the second straight week that Jax has secured a save on Sunday. Jhoan Duran threw 19 pitches in a blown save against the A’s on Friday night, but neither of the two hurlers worked during Saturday’s game, so it was a bit surprising to see Jax and not Duran to close this one out. Other than posting elite ratios and nabbing the occasional save though, it’s hard to count on Jax for much more from a fantasy perspective while Duran is still the primary option in the ninth inning.     • Kyle Finnegan melts down in blown save vs. Rockies
      Kyle Finnegan was charged with two runs and failed to record an out on Saturday in an ugly blown save against the Rockies.

      Advice: Finnegan was saddled with a loss in the ninth inning after failing to hold a one-run lead at Coors Field. It was his first blown save since May 18. He gave up four consecutive hits to open the frame, including a game-tying single to Brenton Doyle, before handing out a bases-loaded free pass to Ryan McMahon to push across the game-winning run. It was a pretty legendary meltdown, but fantasy managers should overlook it considering the environment and how solid Finnegan has been overall this year. Rotoworld Sunday, 3:16 am
