      Alec Marsh pitched six innings of one-run ball Friday in a victory over the Guardians.

      Advice: Marsh came into the night with a 6.61 ERA in his previous six starts, so he needed this. Since it’s just the fifth time this year that he’s completed six innings, he has only four quality starts. Nevertheless, he’s 6-5 with a 4.19 ERA. Rotoworld 56 minutes ago

      Marsh (6-5) earned the win Friday against the Guardians, allowing one run on four hits and two walks over six innings. He struck out five.

      Advice: After yielding 10 runs across 8.2 innings his previous two starts, the 26-year-old looked solid in this 91-pitch outing. The only blemish on Marsh's evening was a solo homer allowed to Jose Ramirez in the first inning. The Kansas City right-hander lowered his season ERA to 4.19 en route to his first win since June 8 against Seattle. Marsh is currently slated to make his next start at home versus Tampa Bay.       Fairbanks earned a save against the Nationals on Friday, walking one in a scoreless ninth inning.

      Advice: Fairbanks was asked to protect a 3-1 lead in the ninth inning and worked around a one-out walk to secure his 13th save of the season. The closer has rebounded from a blown save June 20 to nail down three consecutive scoreless saves.     • Jeff McNeil gets right with three hits, home run
      Jeff McNeil went 3-for-4 with a three-run homer and two runs scored in the Mets’ 7-2 win over the Astros on Friday.

      Advice: McNeil has been waiting all season for a game like this. The home run was his first at Citi Field since September 24th of last year and oddly his first long ball this season outside the state of Ohio. The signs of life are encouraging, but McNeil’s batting average still sits at a lowly .221.       Rafael Devers homered in a third straight game and walked Friday against the Padres.

      Advice: It’s going to be difficult to leave Devers off the All-Star roster this year; he’s currently fifth in the AL with his .941 OPS. Although Devers has received MVP votes four times in his career, he’s been an All-Star only twice, going in 2021 and ’22. Rotoworld Today, 7:22 pm
       
    • Pete Fairbanks slams door on Nationals in ninth
      Pete Fairbanks slammed the door on the Nationals in the ninth inning on Friday night, protecting a two-run lead to earn his 13th save of the season.

      Advice: Fairbanks had to work a bit in the ninth inning of this one, as he issued a one-out walk to Keibert Ruiz to bring the tying run to the plate. He battled back though, getting Eddie Rosario on a line drive to right field and Nick Senzel on a ground ball to first base to end it. In all, he needed 22 pitches (13 strikes) to get the job done. On the season, Fairbanks now sports a 3.14 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and a 30/13 K/BB ratio over 28 innings to go along with 13 saves and two victories. Rotoworld Today, 6:26 pm

      Flaherty (5-5) took the loss against the Angels on Thursday, allowing five runs on seven hits and one walk over 5.2 innings. He struck out seven.

      Advice: Flaherty got tagged for a solo homer to lead off the bottom of the second before proceeding to strike out six of the next nine batters he faced. However, the right-hander would go on to surrender two more long balls on the night as the Tigers failed to back him with anything on offense. Flaherty had allowed one run or fewer in four consecutive starts coming in, and no runs in three of his previous four. The three home runs he gave up Thursday also marked a season high.       Advice: Flaherty surrendered three homers, matching his total from his previous six starts combined. He struck out seven and walked just one, but there was no overcoming the longball in this one. It’s the first time since Apr. 24 that he’s allowed more than three runs.       Kyle Tucker (shin) progressed to taking 30 swings off a batting tee earlier this week.

      Advice: Tucker is close to resuming running again after landing on the injured list earlier this month with a right shin contusion. It’s a positive sign that he’s progressed to taking some swings again.
