    • Gausman has quality start against Red Sox
      Kevin Gausman allowed four runs (three earned) on five hits in six innings in a win over the Red Sox on Tuesday.

      Advice: Gausman struck out five and walked one on the day but did allow two home runs, which accounted for all but one of the runs scored against him. The 33-year-old’s fastball averaged 94 mph on the day, which is up from his season average and he got seven whiffs on 24 swings on that pitch. However, he was only able to get 10 whiffs overall on the day for a 20 percent whiff rate and 25 percent CSW. He had just a 38 percent zone rate on the splitter, and he’s been struggling to get whiffs on that pitch over the last few starts. That’s a bit of a concern because the fastball isn’t good enough to carry him if the splitter whiffs don’t come back. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:00 pm
       
    • Tosses 5.2 scoreless frames Monday
      Crochet took a no-decision against the Dodgers on Monday, allowing five hits and striking out six batters over 5.2 scoreless innings.

      Advice: Crochet was on his game with 16 whiffs and six punchouts against one of MLB's top offenses, but Dodgers starter James Paxton traded scoreless frames with him, and both hurlers had to settle for a no-decision. Crochet continues to impress in what has been a breakout first campaign as a starter -- he lowered his ERA to 3.05 with Monday's outing and ranks second in the league with 130 strikeouts.       Canning (3-8) allowed one run on five hits and one walk while striking out five over seven innings to earn the win over the Athletics on Monday.

      Advice: Canning limited the damage to a Tyler Nevin solo home run in the second inning. This strong outing -- Canning's longest of the season -- ended his four-start losing streak. It's just the fourth time in 16 starts he's given up one run or less. The right-hander is now at a 4.72 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 59:30 K:BB through 87.2 innings this season.     • Griffin Canning goes seven to beat A’s
      Griffin Canning limited the A’s to one run in seven innings for a victory in a 5-1 game Monday.

      Advice: Tyler Nevin’s homer was the only damage. The A’s almost had another homer against Hans Crouse in the ninth, but Taylor Ward caught Tyler Soderstrom’s shot to left that likely would have bounced off the top of the wall and over. The win was Canning’s first since May 15 and third in 16 starts on the season. He’s clearly throwing better now than he did in April, but it’s not enough to offer him mixed-league value.     • Crochet strikes out six in scoreless start Monday
      Garrett Crochet allowed no runs in 5 2/3 innings and got a no-decision against the Dodgers on Monday.



      Advice: Crochet gave up five hits, walked none and struck out six. It was a pretty good effort considering he was facing the Dodgers, but the White Sox couldn’t score any runs to support Crochet. He was one out away from a quality start, breaking a streak of six consecutive quality starts. Crochet continues to build a potential Cy Young award case with a 3.05 ERA and 130 strikeouts on the season. There’s no doubt he’s been a fantasy MVP, though.     • Labors through loss
      Marsh (5-5) took the loss Sunday against Texas, allowing three runs on eight hits and two walks across 5.2 innings. He struck out four.

      Advice: Marsh tied his season high in hits allowed Sunday and failed to complete six innings for the fourth time in his last five starts. While he didn't surrender a home run, the Rangers did tag Marsh for three doubles. All three runs against Marsh came in the fourth inning, when he allowed three straight hits to open the frame before yielding a two-out, two-RBI single to Leody Taveras. After posting a 4-2 record and a 3.24 ERA across his first nine starts, Marsh has put up a 6.66 ERA with a 1-3 record in June.     • Alec Marsh hit around by Rangers
      Alec Marsh allowed three runs on eight hits in 5 2/3 innings in a loss to the Rangers on Sunday.

      Advice: Marsh held the Rangers scoreless through the first three innings, but he allowed three runs on three hits in the fourth inning and then got chased from the game in the middle of the sixth inning after allowing two straight hits; although none of the runners came around to score. Since his great start against the Yankees, where he modified his pitch mix specifically for New York’s hitters, Marsh has allowed 10 runs in nine combined innings in his last two starts. The 26-year-old has a 4.40 ERA and remains on the streaming radar, but is a bit risky next week against the Guardians. Rotoworld Sunday, 2:58 pm

    • Jack Flaherty to have next start pushed back
      Tigers manager A.J. Hinch told reporters Sunday that Jack Flaherty will have his next start pushed back.

      Advice: Flaherty was excellent on Friday in a win over the White Sox and the Tigers simply want to give him some extra rest before taking the ball again since he’s been pitching through a lingering back issue. The 28-year-old righty was slated to take the ball during Wednesday’s series finale against the Phillies, but is going to get at least one additional rest day instead.       Gilbert (5-4) earned the win over Miami on Saturday, allowing four hits and one walk while striking out six batters over eight scoreless innings.

      Advice: Gilbert's superb stat line was just a tad less impressive than in his previous outing, when he allowed two hits and struck out nine over eight scoreless frames against Texas. The right-hander has been on a roll throughout June -- he's tossed four quality starts in four outings this month while posting a 1.21 ERA over 29.2 innings.
