    • Makes relief appearance
Marsh appeared out of the bullpen in Friday's 7-1 win over the White Sox, allowing two hits and striking out one over one scoreless inning.

Advice: Marsh's last start before the All-Star break was July 10, so this relief appearance was likely just to get him back into his pitching rhythm in a lopsided game. The Royals haven't specified their pitching plans beyond this weekend, but it's safe to assume Marsh will take the hill at some point during their three-game series versus the Diamondbacks that begins Monday. Through 91.2 innings, Marsh has a mediocre 4.52 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 84:29 K:BB across 18 appearances (17 starts). Rotowire.com Today, 9:52 am

    • Goes yard twice in loss
McNeil went 3-for-4 with two home runs and three RBI in Friday's 6-4 loss to the Marlins.

Advice: The 32-year-old very nearly kept the Mets in the game single-handedly, launching a solo shot off Edward Cabrera in the fifth inning to get his team on the board and then slugging a two-run blast to right field off Andrew Nardi in the sixth. McNeil appears to have turned things around at the plate, and over his last 20 games he's slashing .271/.302/.525 with four of his seven homers on the season and 12 of his 27 RBI. • Swipes sixth bag
Kwan went 2-for-4 with a run scored and a stolen base in Friday's 7-0 win over the Padres.

Advice: MLB's batting average leader at .354 -- 26 points ahead of second-place Bobby Witt -- Kwan came flying out of the All-Star break with his first multi-hit performance since July 9. The 26-year-old outfielder only has six steals in 10 attempts this season, a disappointing showing after he went 21-for-24 on the basepaths in 2023, but he has successfully swiped bags in back-to-back games and could make an impact in the category in the second half. • Griffin Canning exits start with elbow inflammation
Griffin Canning was removed from Friday’s start against the Athletics with right elbow inflammation.

Advice: Talk about adding injury to insult. Canning was having a pretty rough night, allowing six runs over 3 1/3 innings before being lifted from Friday’s second-half opener due to elbow inflammation. The 28-year-old righty will undergo further testing this weekend to determine the severity of the issue and it wouldn’t be shocking to see him require a trip to the injured list. • Nabs steal Friday
Rafaela went 1-for-3 with a stolen base in Friday's 4-1 loss to the Dodgers.

Advice: Rafaela is up to 12 steals on the year, though he has just two over his last 21 contests. In that span, he's batting a modest .234 (18-for-77) while adding only one walk, so it's not like he's had a lot of opportunities to run. The shortstop is at a .247/.273/.419 slash line with 11 home runs, 52 RBI, 45 runs scored, 16 doubles and four triples across 94 games this season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:12 pm
    • Battling elbow problems
Canning said he was dealing with irritation in his right elbow when throwing his slider during Friday's loss to the Athletics, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Canning only managed to get through 3.1 innings during Friday's contest, and his elbow issue may have played a factor in the six earned runs he gave up in that span. The 28-year-old noted that he's not too concerned about his elbow, though it's likely something that the Angels will want to keep an eye on leading up to his next start, which is tentatively scheduled to come Wednesday in Seattle. • Griffin Canning gives up six runs over 3 1/3
Griffin Canning allowed six runs in 3 1/3 innings to get a loss to the Athletics on Friday.

Advice: Canning allowed six hits — one of those a homer — while walking two and striking out three. It’s a disappointing first start of the second half of the season for the 28-year-old,, and it sees his ERA balloon to an unhealthy 6.20 on the season. Canning has had a few decent outings in the 2024 campaign, but not nearly enough to suggest he’s worth of fantasy consideration. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:22 pm

    • Tovar homers, drives in two against Giants
Ezequiel Tovar homered and drove in two runs while going 2-for-5 against the Giants on Friday.

Advice: Tovar extended the Colorado lead to 7-3 with a solo homer in the eighth. He drove in his first run of the game — and 44th of the season — with an infield single an inning earlier. Tovar has been solid despite an 0-for-28 streak in early July with 17 homers and a .772 OPS. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:51 pm

    • Fans eight in win
Flaherty (7-5) earned the win Friday versus Toronto, allowing two runs on three hits and one walk over 5.2 innings. He struck out eight.

Advice: The Detroit right-hander collected his second consecutive win, as he conjured 17 whiffs to produce eight punchouts. In his second start since returning from a back injury, Flaherty masterfully commanded his arsenal over 98 pitches. He has now pitched to a 3.13 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 127:17 K:BB across 100.2 innings, making him a prime trade target at the upcoming July 30 deadline. Flaherty is currently scheduled to make his next start against the Guardians on the road. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:55 pm
