    • Prevents shutout with homer
Rodriguez went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Wednesday's 2-1 loss to the Athletics.

Advice: Rodriguez got the Mariners on the board in the ninth inning, taking a 102.5 mph offering from Mason Miller deep to center field. This was Rodriguez's third homer over his last 11 games, a span in which he's gone 15-for-42 (.357) with 10 RBI. The star outfielder continues to shake off a slow start to the year, and he's now at a .270/.317/.351 slash line with five homers, 24 RBI, 27 runs scored and 14 stolen bases through 63 contests. • Secures sixth straight victory
Rodon (8-2) earned the win over Minnesota on Wednesday, allowing two runs on three hits and no walks while striking out nine batters.

Advice: Rodon was staked to a 4-0 lead after the first inning and never looked back, keeping alive a perfect game until Carlos Santana homered with one out in the sixth frame. The left-handed hurler picked up his sixth consecutive win, and he's notched a quality start in each of those victories. Rodon also dominated with 18 swinging strikes Wednesday en route to a season-high nine punchouts. He's bounced back from a disastrous first year in New York last season to post a 3.08 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 71:20 K:BB through 73 innings during the current campaign. • Dylan Cease gives up three runs in loss to Angels
Dylan Cease allowed three runs with six strikeouts in a loss to the Angels on Wednesday.

Advice: All three runs off Cease came via the home run. Nolan Schanuel got the scoring started with a solo blast to lead off the first inning. Zach Neto followed with a two-run shot in the second. Cease settled in to toss four more scoreless frames while striking out six. The 28-year-old right-hander will take a 3.51 ERA, 0.96 WHIP, and a 93/21 K/BB ratio across 77 innings into a start against the Athletics in San Diego on Monday. Rotoworld Wednesday, 9:12 pm

    • Julio Rodríguez socks solo homer in loss to A’s
Julio Rodríguez went 1-for-3 with a solo homer and a walk against the A’s on Wednesday.

Advice: Rodríguez made sure the Mariners would not be shut out against the A’s on Wednesday. He took Mason Miller deep to lead off the ninth inning to bring Seattle to within a run. The 23-year-old outfielder is slashing .270/.317/.351 with five homers, 27 runs scored, 24 RBI, and 14 steals across 265 plate appearances. Rotoworld Wednesday, 9:03 pm
    • Gleyber Torres plates two as Yankees defeat Twins
Gleyber Torres smacked a two-run double on Wednesday as the Yankees triumphed over the Twins.

Advice: Torres capped off a four-run uprising off of Chris Paddack in the opening inning with his two-run double that plated Anthony Rizzo and Giancarlo Stanton. That would be his only hit in four at-bats on the evening. For the season, the 27-year-old infielder is slashing .231/.307/.341 with just five homers, 19 RBI and four stolen bases through his first 63 games. Rotoworld Wednesday, 6:46 pm

    • Anthony Volpe collects three hits in win Wednesday
Anthony Volpe went 3-for-5 with a triple and a pair of runs scored as the Yankees topped the Twins on Wednesday evening in New York.

Advice: Volpe led off the home half of the first inning with a single and came around to score the game’s first run on a ground ball off the bat of Aaron Judge. He also singled in the fifth inning and scored on Aaron Judge’s three-run triple. Volpe then smacked a three-bagger of his own in the eighth inning, but the Bombers couldn’t cash him in. He’s having an outstanding season atop the Yankees’ lineup — hitting .290/.355/.448 with six homers, 25 RBI and 11 stolen bases. Rotoworld Wednesday, 6:46 pm

    • Carlos Rodón strikes out nine in win over Twins
Carlos Rodón was terrific in Wednesday’s victory over the Twins, piling up nine strikeouts over six innings of two-run baseball.

Advice: The 31-year-old southpaw scattered just three hits on the night and didn’t allow a base on balls. He kept the Twins’ offense at bat completely through the first five frames until Carlos Santana slugged a solo homer in the sixth inning. The Twins also scratched out a run on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Carlos Correa later in the inning. Rodón generated 18 swings and misses on 100 pitches on the night — eight of those on his heater — while posting a strong CSW of 33 percent. Now 8-2 on the season, Rodón will attempt to keep the good times rolling as he carries a 3.08 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and a 71/20 K/BB ratio (73 innings) into Monday’s tilt against the Royals in Kansas City. • Yainer Diaz homers in third straight game vs. Cards
Yainer Diaz belted a solo homer on Wednesday in the Astros’ loss to the Cardinals.

Advice: Diaz might want to consider relocating to the NL Central after homering for the third consecutive game on Wednesday afternoon against the Cardinals. The 25-year-old slugging backstop had just three round-trippers over 52 games to open the year, but has doubled his season total in just three contests since June 3. • Beginning rehab assignment
Diaz (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment with Single-A Brooklyn on Thursday.

Advice: Diaz threw a successful bullpen session Tuesday and has now been cleared to test things out in a game setting. He is eligible for activation from the 15-day injured list on June 11 when the Mets return home from London. Barring a setback, Diaz should be ready to go that day. Whether he is used as the closer right away upon his return is unclear, as Diaz's struggles prior to getting hurt had led to him sharing save chances with others. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 11:50 am
