    • Diaz blows back-to-back saves
      Edwin Diaz blew another save against the Phillies on Thursday.



      Advice: Three days after blowing his second save of the season, Diaz blew another save opportunity against the Phillies. Pitching with a one-run lead, Diaz walked Brandon Marsh to start the ninth inning. Marsh advanced on a wild pitch and scored on a single by Bryson Stott. All three of Diaz’ blown saves have come in the month of May. Once an elite closer, Diaz is showing the rust of someone who missed an entire season with a knee injury.

      Diaz blew the save Thursday against Philadelphia, allowing one run on one hit and one walk with two strikeouts over one inning.

      Advice: Diaz inherited a one-run lead for the bottom of the ninth but was unable to convert his sixth save of 2024. Instead, Diaz walked Brandon Marsh and then allowed Marsh to reach second on a wild pitch before Bryson Stott hit an RBI single to send the game into extras.       Doval earned the save over the Dodgers on Wednesday, allowing one hit and one walk over one inning while striking out two.

      Advice: Doval entered the game with a three-run lead in the ninth and quickly retired the first two batters on strikes before walking Mookie Betts and surrendering a single to Shohei Ohtani. However, the right-hander was able to get Freddie Freeman to ground out for the final out and notch his seventh save in as many chances.     • Camilo Doval secures seventh save vs. Dodgers
      Camilo Doval struck out two batters in a scoreless ninth inning for the save against the Dodgers on Wednesday.

      Advice: Doval was summoned to close out the game with a three-run lead in the ninth. He struck out the first two batters, then walked Mookie Betts before giving up a base hit to Shohei Ohtani.       Diaz blew the save Monday against Philadelphia, allowing two runs on two hits, two walks and a hit batter. He had one strikeout over one inning.

      Advice: Diaz looked extremely unsettled Monday night, issuing his first free passes since April 20, ending a streak of eight walk-free innings. Even more indicative of his unsteady control, the Mets closer allowed the tying run to score by beaning Alec Bohm with the bases loaded.     • Edwin Díaz melts down Monday in ugly blown save
      Edwin Díaz was charged with two runs in the ninth inning on Monday against the Phillies in a blown save.

      Advice: Not great. Díaz was called upon to guard a two-run lead in the final frame and was unable to slam the door. He served up a solo shot to Bryson Stott to kick things off before drilling Alec Bohm with the bases loaded to push across the game-tying run with two outs in the frame. It was his second blown save in seven chances this season. There’s zero chance of Díaz losing his grip on the closing role in New York, but it’s worth noting that this outing was a real mess.       Diaz (1-1) secured the win over Alanta on Sunday, tossing a perfect ninth frame while striking out a batter.

      Advice: Diaz entered to begin the ninth with the Mets trailing 3-2 and wound up with the win thanks to a Brandon Nimmo two-run walk off homer in the bottom of the inning. He's bounced back with a save and a win in his last two outings after allowing three runs in his previous four innings. He's also struck out at least one batter in all 15 of his appearances thus far.     • Raisel Iglesias gives up solo homer vs. Mets
      Raisel Iglesias allowed a solo homer while picking up a strikeout in a relief appearance Saturday against the Mets.

      Advice: Atlanta didn’t allow a hit over the first 8 2/3 innings, but Iglesias gave up the no-no — and the shutout — by allowing a homer to J.D. Martinez. Iglesias also gave up another hit and a walk, but he was able to escape the jam; although the escape comes without a save since he entered the game with a 4-0 lead.       Holmes earned the save in Friday's 2-0 win over the Rays, working around a hit and two walks while striking out three in a scoreless ninth inning.

      Advice: The Rays loaded the bases against Holmes in the ninth before the right-hander struck out Jonny DeLuca for the final out. Holmes has yet to allow an earned run this year, pitching to a 1.04 WHIP with 21:3 K:BB over 17.1 innings. He's up to 12 saves, tied with Kyle Finnegan and Robert Suarez for the league lead.
