    • Austin Riley (side) out for 12th consecutive game
Austin Riley (side) remains out of the lineup for Saturday’s showdown against the Pirates.

Advice: Yikes. Riley has progressed to taking batting practice without any issues, but it appears the Braves don’t want to take any chances here. Atlanta manager Brian Snitker told reports Friday that he doesn’t expect Riley back until Monday’s series opener against the Nationals. The 27-year-old fantasy star hasn’t played since May 12 and will miss his 12th consecutive contest on Saturday afternoon at PNC Park. It’ll be Zack Short drawing another start at the hot corner in his absence. Rotoworld Saturday, 10:14 am

    • Sitting as expected
Riley (side) isn't in Atlanta's lineup for Saturday's game against the Pirates.

Advice: Manager Brian Snitker said Friday that Riley is likely to sit out until Atlanta begins its series against the Nationals on Monday, so the third baseman's absence Saturday isn't too surprising. Zack Short will continue starting at third base while Riley misses his 12th consecutive game. Rotowire.com Saturday, 10:10 am

    • Logs steal in win
Garcia went 1-for-4 with a walk, a stolen base and one run scored in Friday's 8-1 win over the Rays.

Advice: Garcia's hitting streak is up to 11 games, during which he's gone 17-for-48 (.354) with five steals, six extra-base hits and eight RBI. The third baseman has 13 thefts on the year, and he's yet to be caught stealing. He's added a .266/.313/.425 slash line with five home runs, 32 RBI, 31 runs scored, 12 doubles and three triples over 50 contests as the Royals' near-everyday leadoff hitter. • Austin Riley (side) takes batting practice Friday
Austin Riley (side) took batting practice on the field prior to Friday’s game without any issues.

Advice: The 27-year-old slugger is not in the Braves’ lineup on Friday night — the 11th consecutive game that he has missed due to a sore side. He continues to make progress though, and it’s possible he could be available off the bench at some point over the weekend. He’s tentatively expected to return to the lineup on Monday against the Nationals. Rotoworld Friday, 2:39 pm

    • Likely to return Monday
Atlanta manager Brian Snitker noted Friday that Riley (side) is likely to remain out until Monday's series opener against the Nationals, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Riley has been sidelined due to a left intercostal strain he sustained May 12 against the Mets. Despite the length of his absence, Atlanta did not place the 27-year-old third baseman on the 10-day IL in hopes he could return sooner, but Riley appears on track to rejoin the lineup following a weekend series against the Pirates. Prior to his injury, Riley was slashing .245/.319/.388 with eight doubles, three home runs and 18 RBI over 163 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Friday, 2:11 pm

    • Idle against southpaw
McMahon isn't in the lineup for Friday's game against the Phillies.

Advice: The lefty-hitting McMahon will avoid a matchup with lefty Cristopher Sanchez on Friday. Alan Trejo will start at third base and bat ninth. McMahon has homered in three of his last four games and has scored a run in eight straight outings. Rotowire.com Friday, 12:49 pm

    • Still not starting
Riley (side) is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Pirates, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Advice: Riley will miss an 11th consecutive start Friday with a left intercostal strain. Despite the lengthy absence, it seems Riley is close to returning after swinging a bat Tuesday. Zack Short will start at third and bat ninth Friday. Rotowire.com Friday, 12:03 pm

    • Homers in third straight
McMahon went 2-for-6 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's win over Oakland.

Advice: McMahon went hitless in his first four at-bats before adding a single in the ninth and a two-run homer in the top of the 12th, which would end up being the game winner. It marked the third baseman's third consecutive game with a home run, and he's now up to five long balls in May to go along with 11 RBI and 12 runs scored. McMahon has also hit safely in 10 straight games. Rotowire.com Thursday, 4:29 am

    • Ryan McMahon blasts go-ahead homer in Oakland
Ryan McMahon went 2-for-6 with a two-run homer to lift the Rockies to a 4-3 win over the Athletics on Wednesday.

Advice: McMahon had knocked a single in the ninth, then came through in a big spot in the 12th inning. With a runner on in a tie game, he took Kyle Muller deep for a go-ahead two-run blast. The 29-year-old third baseman is hitting an outstanding .306/.383/.508 with nine homers and 29 RBI across 211 plate appearances. Rotoworld Wednesday, 9:57 pm
