    • Extends throwing distance
Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said Rodriguez (shoulder) has extended his throwing program out to 60 feet, Jesse Friedman of GoPHNX.com reports.

Advice: Rodriguez had to pause his throwing program in early April due to discomfort in his left shoulder, but the fact that he's extended his throwing distance is an encouraging sign. He was transferred from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on April 17, which would make the left-hander eligible to return in mid-June. Rotowire.com Today, 4:55 pm
    • Eduardo Rodriguez (lat) throwing at 60 feet
Diamondbacks’ skipper Torey Lovullo told reporters on Friday that Eduardo Rodriguez is now throwing at a distance of 60 feet.

Advice: He has yet to throw off of a mound, but the fact that he has been playing catch and gradually increasing his distance is at least an encouraging sign. He’s going to require a long and slow build up — and several minor league rehab starts — before he’s ready to make his Diamondbacks’ debut. Don’t expect to see him on a big league mound before the end of June. Rotoworld Today, 4:53 pm
    • Undergoing season-ending surgery
Lee is set to undergo season-ending surgery in the next few weeks for a torn labrum in his left shoulder, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Advice: Lee sustained the injury in the top of the first inning of Sunday's game against the Reds, when he crashed into the outfield wall while attempting to make a catch. He was placed on the 10-day IL with what was initially diagnosed as a dislocated left shoulder, but an MRI on Tuesday revealed further structural damage. Lee received multiple opinions on the injury, and season-ending surgery has ultimately been decided on for the 25-year-old outfielder. Lee signed a six-year, $113 million with the Giants in December of 2023 after seven seasons in the Korea Baseball Organization, and he will end his first season in the majors slashing .262/.310/.331 with four doubles, two home runs and eight RBI over 158 plate appearances. Luis Matos has started in center field in each game since Lee's injury, and the former will reprise that role again Friday against the Rockies. Rotowire.com Today, 3:46 pm

    • Returns to starting lineup
Soler (shoulder) is serving as the designated hitter and batting in the leadoff spot for Friday's game against the Rockies, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Advice: The Giants reinstated Soler from the 10-day injured list Friday, per Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com. Soler made two rehab appearances with Triple-A Sacramento, and he went 2-for-3 with one RBI in his second outing Thursday. Before landing on the IL, the 32-year-old was slashing .202/.294/.361 with five home runs and eight RBI over 136 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Today, 3:39 pm

    • Jung Hoo Lee to undergo season-ending surgery
Jung Hoo Lee will undergo season-ending surgery to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder.

Advice: It had been anticipated that Lee would be sidelined for most — if not all — of the season after crashing into the center-field wall at Oracle Park over the weekend, and now it’s official. The 25-year-old finishes his first season stateside hitting .262/.310/.331 with a pair of homers, 15 runs scored, eight RBI and two stolen bases in 37 games. He should be ready to go for the start of spring training in 2025. Rotoworld Today, 3:35 pm

    • Jorge Soler (shoulder) returns to Giants’ lineup
Giants activated OF Jorge Soler from the 10-day injured list.

Advice: The 32-year-old slugger will return to the Giants’ lineup on Friday night against the Rockies, serving as their leadoff man and designated hitter. Before landing on the injured list with a right shoulder strain, Soler had been hitting a disappointing .202/.294/.361 with five long balls and only eight RBI in 34 games. • Austin Riley held out of lineup again on Friday
Austin Riley (side) was held out of the Braves’ starting lineup for the fourth consecutive game on Friday night.

Advice: It’s still encouraging that there has been no chatter about a possible trip to the injured list, which would seemingly mean that Riley is making progress and should return to the lineup any day now. Zack Short will once again start in his place at the hot corner and will bat ninth against Matt Waldron and the Padres. Rotoworld Today, 3:02 pm

    • Has clubhouse locker, not with team
Crawford (oblique/hand) didn't travel with the team to Baltimore but still has a locker in the Blue Jays' clubhouse, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.

Advice: The veteran shortstop was hit by a pitch on the hand during a rehab game Wednesday, and he's experienced some swelling and soreness. Crawford has yet to join the team, but the fact he has a locker could indicate he still may return from the injured list this weekend. Rotowire.com Today, 1:51 pm

    • Out again Friday
Riley (side) is out of the lineup for Friday's game against San Diego, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Advice: Riley won't be starting for a fourth consecutive game as he deals with inflammation in his left side. Instead, Zack Short will draw another start at the hot corner and bat ninth. Atlanta manager Brian Snitker said that Riley is feeling better but isn't quite ready yet, per David O'Brien of The Athletic. He remains day-to-day. Rotowire.com Today, 12:37 pm
