      Advice: Hey, that’s one piece of good news for the Mets. Alonso underwent a battery of additional testing and imaging, including a CT scan, X-rays and an MRI, which didn’t reveal any structural damage. The 29-year-old impending free agent may miss a couple of games as he deals with soreness, and some likely inflammation, but it appears he avoided any major injury here and should be back in New York’s lineup relatively soon.       Alonso is day-to-day after a CT scan confirmed he didn't suffer a fracture when he was hit by a pitch in the right hand during Wednesday's 10-3 loss to the Dodgers, Andy Martino of SNY.tv reports.

      Advice: X-rays and now a CT scan have both come back negative, as Alonso has managed to avoid a serious injury and is dealing with a bone bruise to his right hand.       Friedl went 0-for-3 with two walks in Wednesday's 5-3 loss to St. Louis.

      Advice: Friedl was activated off the injured list Wednesday after successfully rehabbing a thumb injury. He resumed his roles as the team's starting center fielder and leadoff hitter. It's been a season of stops and starts thus far for Friedl, who was back only six games from a wrist injury when he injured the thumb.     • Hangs on for 16th save
      Holmes picked up the save over the Angels on Wednesday, pitching a scoreless ninth inning while allowing one hit and one walk.

      Advice: Holmes entered the contest with a one-run lead in the bottom of the ninth and surrendered a single and a walk in the first two at-bats before getting Willie Calhoun to ground into a double play. The reliever was then able to retire Logan O'Hoppe on just two pitches to record his 16th save of the season, which ties him with Robert Suarez for third in the major leagues.       Gil (7-1) picked up the win Wednesday over the Angels, allowing one run on two hits and two walks while striking out nine over eight frames.

      Advice: Gil continued his fantastic start to the campaign Wednesday, allowing just one hit over the first six innings before surrendering a solo home run to Logan O'Hoppe in the seventh. The right-hander produced 15 whiffs on the night while posting at least eight strikeouts for the third consecutive outing. Gil has now logged six quality starts in a row and improved to 6-0 in May after the win over Los Angeles. Over that stretch, he carries a ridiculous 0.70 ERA to go along with a 44:12 K:BB.       Crawford (2-4) took the loss against Baltimore on Wednesday, allowing five runs on four hits and two walks while striking out five batters over six innings.

      Advice: Crawford was excellent outside of the second inning -- he gave up five runs on three hits, a walk and a hit batter in that frame, with the big blow being a grand slam by Gunnar Henderson. The right-hander did hold the Orioles scoreless on one hit the rest of the way, but the damage was too much to overcome against Baltimore starter Corbin Burnes.       Clay Holmes pitched a scoreless ninth inning to record a save against the Angels on Wednesday.

      Advice: Holmes was called on in the ninth to close it out with a one-run lead over the Angels. He started the inning with a single and a walk before getting two outs on a ground ball double play. Holmes then got Logan O’Hoppe to ground out to end the game with his 16th save.       Luis Gil held the Angels to one run with nine strikeouts over eight innings to earn the win on Wednesday.

      Advice: Gil was outstanding once again, holding the Angels to one run over eight frames. He allowed just two hits and two walks, giving up a solo homer to Logan O’Hoppe in the seventh inning. He struck out nine. It was the fifth consecutive start for Gil with at least six innings and no more than one run allowed. The 25-year-old right-hander will take an excellent 1.99 ERA, 0.95 WHIP, and a 79/31 K/BB ratio across 63 1/3 innings into a start against the Twins in New York on Tuesday.       Adames went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run, a walk, three total RBI and two runs scored in Wednesday's 10-6 win over the Cubs.

      Advice: Adames extended his hitting streak to eight games, a span in which he's gone 12-for-31 (.387) with two homers, five doubles and 10 RBI. The shortstop is up to a .255/.328/.454 slash line with nine long balls, 39 RBI, 30 runs scored and eight stolen bases through 55 contests this season.
