    • Justin Turner returns to Jays’ lineup on Friday
Justin Turner returned to the Blue Jays’ starting lineup for Friday night’s battle against the Rays.

Advice: After missing the previous three games due to illness, Turner will jump right back in as the Jays’ designated hitter and will bat cleanup against Tyler Alexander and the Rays on Friday evening. On the season, the 39-year-old is hitting .246/.317/.405 with four homers and 16 RBI in 37 games. Rotoworld Today, 2:56 pm

    • Jorge Polanco (hamstring) could need IL stint
Jorge Polanco (hamstring) remains out of the Mariners’ starting lineup for Friday’s series opener against the Orioles.

Advice: There had been an expectation that the 30-year-old second baseman would be ready to return on Friday night after three straight days off, but alas it was not to be. The Mariners are now saying that he may miss the entire series against the Orioles and could wind up requiring a trip to the injured list. Stay tuned. Josh Rojas will slide over and cover second base in his absence on Friday while Luis Urias starts at the hot corner. Rotoworld Today, 2:51 pm

    • Down in five spot Friday
Machado will start at third base and bat fifth in Friday's game in Atlanta.

Advice: It's only the second time over the past nine seasons that Machado has batted lower than cleanup. The 31-year-old is in the middle of a 2-for-30 stretch at the plate to drop his season batting line to .222/.276/.346. Rotowire.com Today, 1:10 pm
    • Back in lineup
Turner (illness) is back in the lineup as the designated hitter for Friday's game against the Rays.

Advice: Turner was one of three sick Toronto players and missed the starting lineup for team's last three games due to the illness. The primary designated hitter will return against Tampa Bay, slashing .246/.317/.405 on the season with 16 RBI. Rotowire.com Today, 12:11 pm

    • Surrenders two runs
Jansen (1-1) took the loss Thursday against Tampa Bay, allowing two runs on two hits and one walk with two strikeouts over one inning.

Advice: Jansen took over in the top of the ninth with the game tied but fell to his first loss of the campaign. After striking out Josh Lowe to start off the inning, Jansen yielded a walk, two singles and a sacrifice fly to consecutive batters as the Rays took a 7-5 advantage and the eventual win. The outing raised the 36-year-old's ERA from 2.45 to 3.45. In 15.2 innings of work, Jansen owns a 21:10 K:BB and has yet to allow a home run. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:44 pm
    • Forced to abandon save opportunity
Adam allowed one hit and one walk while striking out one across two-thirds of an inning to earn a hold Thursday against the Red Sox.

Advice: Adam entered the game in the ninth inning and was in line to earn the save, but he was forced to exit after the Rays' exceeded their limit for mound visits. He was laboring toward the end of the outing, having allowed each of the last two batters he faced to reach base. Though it wasn't his most dominant appearance, Adam has been excellent this season and has turned in six consecutive scoreless outings. He could be a candidate for save chances moving forward on occasions when Pete Fairbanks is unavailable or used in high-leverage situations earlier in a contest. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:02 pm
    • Aaron Judge doubles twice in victory over Twins
Aaron Judge doubled twice on Thursday in the Yankees’ win over the Twins.

Advice: Judge scalded a pair of doubles in this one that carried exit velocities over 108 mph and traveled over 400 feet, but wound up staying in the yard at spacious Target Field in Minnesota. He finished 2-for-3 with a walk, reaching base safely in three of his four plate appearances in the one-sided affair. The 32-year-old former AL MVP has rebounded from a frosty start at the dish this season, batting .396 (19-for-48) with five homers and nine doubles in 14 contests since the start of May. • Used in high-leverage spot
Fairbanks struck out two and didn't allow a baserunner in a scoreless eighth inning to pick up a hold in Wednesday's 4-3 win over the Red Sox.

Advice: Fairbanks entered the game in the eighth inning to face the heart of the Red Sox order and needed only seven pitches to get through the frame. While effective, his usage was concerning given that he had pitched nearly exclusively as a traditional closer early in the season. It's unclear whether manager Kevin Cash might continue to mix and match the back end of his bullpen, but Fairbanks could lose save opportunities moving forward. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:23 am
