    • Jordan Romano (elbow) has arthroscopic surgery
The Blue Jays announced Wednesday that Jordan Romano underwent arthroscopic surgery to repair an impingement in his right elbow.

Advice: Jays’ manager John Schnieder told reporters that he’ll be shut down completely for the next six weeks before he’s able to resume throwing. That means there’s no certainty that he’ll be able to return before the end of the 2024 season. Fantasy managers in redraft leagues without IL spots can safely cut bait on the 31-year-old closer. Expect Chad Green to continue holding down the fort in the ninth inning for the time being. Rotoworld Today, 1:16 pm

    • Undergoes elbow surgery
Romano underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right elbow Tuesday to repair an impingement and will be shut down from throwing for at least six weeks, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.

Advice: The 31-year-old has been unavailable due to elbow issues since late May, and it's now unclear whether he'll be able to pitch again this year. Romano missed the first couple weeks of the season with elbow problems and never looked himself in the six weeks he was available with a 6.59 ERA in 15 appearances. Chad Green has stepped up as Toronto's closer with Yimi Garcia (elbow) also on the injured list. Rotowire.com Today, 1:15 pm

    • Swats homer No. 10
Riley went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 5-3 loss to the Giants.

Advice: The third baseman took Hayden Birdsong deep in the second inning to open the scoring on the night. Riley's bat has woken up in a big way over the last few weeks -- since June 14, he's slashing .356/.441/.780 in 68 plate appearances with seven of his 10 homers on the year and 12 of his 32 RBI. • Notches 15th save
Doval struck out two in a perfect ninth inning Tuesday to record his 15th save of the season in a 5-3 win over Atlanta.

Advice: The 26-year-old right-hander was in peak form, whiffing Adam Duvall with a 100.6 mph cutter to end the game. Doval blew his last save chance Friday, though, and consistency has been an issue for him all year -- through 33.2 innings, he's posted a 4.28 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 44:22 K:BB, a significant step backward from his ratios the prior two seasons. • Rhys Hoskins leads Brewers past Rockies on Tuesday
Rhys Hoskins drew a go-ahead bases-loaded walk with two outs in the ninth inning on Tuesday night, leading the Brewers to a 4-3 victory over the Rockies.

Advice: Hoskins entered the game as a pinch-hitter for Jake Bauers in the eighth inning where he went down on strikes. He atoned for that failure in the ninth inning though, working a walk off of Justin Lawrence to drive in the go-ahead run. On the season, the 31-year-old slugger is hitting .224/.318/.404 with 11 homers, 38 RBI and a pair of stolen bases. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:14 pm

    • Doval picks up 15th save in win over Braves
Camilo Doval pitched a perfect ninth inning while striking out two in Tuesday’s win over the Braves.

Advice: Doval now has 14 saves on the season and has allowed just one run since his four-run implosion against the Angels back in mid-June. The veteran closer continues to be a reliable closer out of the bullpen, and he has hopefully put a tough June behind him. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:29 pm
    • Austin Riley homers again in loss to Giants
Austin Riley went 1-for-4 with a home run in Tuesday’s loss to the Giants.

Advice: Riley got the scoring started for the Braves in the second inning when he took Hayden Birdsong 415 feet to left for a solo homer. The home run was Riley’s 10th blast of the season and his third in his last 10 games. The veteran third baseman has gotten off to a slow start this season after three straight 30-plus homer seasons but has now hit safely in six of his last eight games. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:24 pm
    • Launches rehab assignment
Baez (back) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Toledo on Tuesday.

Advice: Baez has been out since June 11 while dealing with lumbar inflammation, but he now appears to be on the cusp of returning to the major-league roster. The shortstop will likely play in multiple games with Toledo before being activated from the 10-day injured list. Baez has struggled to a .183/.209/.247 slash line with one home run, 25 RBI, 15 runs scored and six stolen bases over 53 games this season, not providing much value to fantasy managers. • Absent from lineup
Hoskins isn't in the Brewers' lineup for Tuesday's game against the Rockies.

Advice: After recording a base hit in 10 of his last 11 games, Hoskins went 0-for-4 with a sacrifice fly during Monday's loss in the series opener. He'll now sit against Ryan Feltner and the Rockies on Tuesday, putting Jake Bauers at first base while Christian Yelich serves as the Brewers' DH, opening a spot in left field for Jackson Chourio.
