Baez (back) won't be with the Tigers during their road trip that ends July 7 and will require an "extensive" rehab assignment, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Advice: Baez became eligible to return from the IL on June 19, but manager AJ Hinch noted Tuesday that the shortstop won't travel with Detroit during its 10-game road trip that kicks off Thursday. Even once Baez is cleared for game action, he'll need to make several appearances in the minors before being activated from the IL. Given the current timeline, Baez could be held out until after the All-Star break. Rotowire.com Today, 1:44 pm

    • Jordan Romano (elbow) resumes playing catch
Jordan Romano (elbow) has resumed playing catch.

Advice: It qualifies as a step in the right direction that Romano was able to resume throwing, albeit light catch, over the weekend, after being shut down last week due to renewed right elbow soreness. The 31-year-old veteran stopper is going to have to build up his throwing program basically from scratch again and is probably going to be out through the upcoming All-Star break. • Clubs eighth homer
Riley went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Monday's 4-3 loss to the Cardinals.

Advice: The slugging third baseman took Lance Lynn deep in the fifth inning, but it was the only extra-base hit Atlanta managed on the night. Riley is having one of his patented hot streaks, launching five of his eight homers on the season over the last 10 games while slashing .441/.513/1.000 with four doubles, 10 RBI and 10 runs. • Turns tide with grand slam
Hoskins went 1-for-4 with a grand slam in a 6-3 win against Texas on Monday.

Advice: The Brewers were down 3-1 in the sixth inning when Hoskins turned the game around with his grand slam to left field. The big blast snapped a 15-game homerless drought for the slugger, during which he batted just .170 with 22 strikeouts over 53 at-bats. Hoskins' .739 OPS on the season is on pace for a career-worst mark, though he ranks second on Milwaukee with 11 home runs. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:47 pm

    • Sparks comeback with homer
Chapman went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, a double and two total runs scored in Monday's 5-4 win over the Cubs.

Advice: Chapman hasn't had a hitting streak longer than three games in June, and he's batting just .219 for the month. He's trending upward with multiple hits in two over his last three games, and he ended a 25-game homer drought with his fifth-inning blast Monday. The third baseman has a .233/.313/.394 slash line with nine long balls, 31 RBI, 50 runs scored, 20 doubles and six stolen bases through 76 contests this season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:55 pm
    • Rhys Hoskins hits grand slam in Brewers’ 6-3 win
Rhys Hoskins hit his third career grand slam Monday to lead the Brewers to a 6-3 win over the Rangers.

Advice: His previous slams came with the Phillies in 2019 and 2022. Hoskins has 11 homers through 57 games this season, though he had been without one since June 3. The multi-RBI game tonight was actually his first since he did it three games in a row from May 9-11. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:15 pm

    • Riley belts fifth home run in last 10 games
Austin Riley went 2-for-4 with a solo home run against the Cardinals on Monday.

Advice: Riley’s home run was his eighth of the season. He belted a solo shot off Cardinals starter Lance Lynn in the fifth inning. Riley is heating up after a slow start to the season. In his last 10 games, he’s 15-for-34 (.441) with five home runs and 10 RBI. Riley is hitting just .251 with a .745 OPS on the season, but could provide first round level production the rest of the way. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:26 pm

    • Playing catch Monday
Musgrove (elbow) will play catch Monday, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Musgrove has been throwing plyometric balls in recent days, but Monday marks his first time playing catch since he landed on the 15-day injured list at the beginning of the month. Surgery hasn't been ruled out down the road for the right-hander, but he'll attempt to come back from the IL without an operation. Even if the non-surgical route proves effective for Musgrove, he's still several weeks away from a potential return. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:07 pm

    • Plays light catch Monday
Romano (elbow) played light catch Monday, Kaitlyn McGrath of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Romano felt soreness in his right elbow while throwing loss toss from 120 feet this past Friday, so it's a pleasant surprise he's throwing again already, even if only lightly. The veteran reliever has dealt with elbow problems off and on since spring training, so he'll need to clear several hurdles before a timetable for a return can be mapped out. He's been on the shelf since June 1. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:26 pm
