    • Quality start in no-decision
Singer came away with a no-decision in Wednesday's 5-1 win over the Marlins, allowing one run on five hits and a walk over seven innings. He struck out five.

Advice: The right-hander delivered his sixth quality start of the season on 92 pitches (63 strikes) and completed seven innings for the first time since his first outing of the year, March 31 against the Twins. Despite the impressive performance, Singer left the mound in line for his fifth loss before the Royals' offense woke up in the bottom of the eighth inning. He'll take a 3.12 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 85:26 K:BB through 89.1 innings into his next start, which is scheduled to come at home early next week against the Rays. Rotowire.com 5 minutes ago

    • Mets recall Ty Adcock from Triple-A Syracuse
Mets recalled RHP Ty Adcock from Triple-A Syracuse.

Advice: The 27-year-old hurler will take the place of the injured Drew Smith (elbow) in the Mets’ bullpen. Adcock has pitched at the Triple-A level for three different organizations this season, compiling a 5.82 ERA, 1.94 WHIP and a 20/11 K/BB ratio across 17 innings. He’ll function in a middle relief role for the Mets. Rotoworld 9 minutes ago

    • Heading to bench Wednesday
Jimenez is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Dodgers.

Advice: Jimenez experienced a brief scare when he experienced some soreness in his hamstring in his first game back from the injured list in Sunday's 11-2 loss to the Tigers, but he proceeded to serve as the White Sox's designated hitter in both of the first two games of the series with the Dodgers. He went 2-for-9 between the two contests, smacking a double while driving in a run. Jimenez didn't report any setbacks with the hamstring coming out of either game against the Dodgers, so he's likely just getting a planned day off Wednesday. Rotowire.com 10 minutes ago

    • Mets place Drew Smith (elbow) on 15-day IL
Mets placed RHP Drew Smith on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to June 24, with a right elbow sprain.

Advice: No word yet on exactly what was found in Smith’s MRI exam, but he’s going to miss a minimum of a couple of weeks — and likely longer. Ty Adcock was recalled from Triple-A Syracuse in a corresponding move on Wednesday to take Smith’s place in the Mets’ bullpen. Rotoworld 11 minutes ago

    • Zach Neto with two hits, drives in three runs
Zach Neto went 2-for-4 with a double, run scored, and three RBI in the Angels’ 5-1 win over the Athletics on Wednesday.

Advice: Neto’s three-run double in the sixth inning put the Angels ahead after being stifled all afternoon by Joey Estes. He’s had a sneaky solid season, with 10 homers, 10 steals, and 18 doubles. Hopefully Ron Washington decides to move him up in the batting order soon. Rotoworld 11 minutes ago

    • Brent Rooker doubles in loss
Brent Rooker went 2-for-4 with a double on Wednesday against the Angels.

Advice: The Athletics keep losing, but Rooker keeps hitting. The double was his 32nd extra-base hit of the season and his OPS has climbed up to .845, 20th in the league among qualified players. Rooker could be in for a monster second-half if the A’s decide to trade him before the deadline. Rotoworld 13 minutes ago

    • Joey Estes strikes out eight in loss
Joey Estes was pulled after 5 2/3 innings on Wednesday against the Angels and allowed two runs in a no-decision. He struck out a career-best eight batters and walked two in a loss.

Advice: Estes allowed just four base runners through his first five innings: back-to-back hits to start the game, a hit by pitch, and intentional walk. Then, he was pulled after a walk and single in the sixth inning and Austin Adams promptly imploded allowing five runs, two of which were charged to Estes. Otherwise, he mixed his four pitches well and can be a sneaky streamer against teams like the Angels. Rotoworld 13 minutes ago

    • Drawing another start
Knack is scheduled to start Friday's game against the Giants in San Francisco, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.

Advice: Due to an off days Thursday and next Monday, the Dodgers could have gotten by with a four-man rotation until next weekend, but Knack will earn another turn as Los Angeles' No. 5 starter coming off a solid showing in his return to the big club last week. After being called up from Triple-A Oklahoma City last Friday, Knack tossed five scoreless innings while taking a no-decision against the Angels. Knack's stay in the rotation will likely last as long as Walker Buehler (hip) is on the injured list. Rotowire.com 13 minutes ago
    • Roansy Contreras labors through three innings
Roansy Contreras lasted just three-plus innings on Wednesday against the Athletics and allowed one earned run with two walks and two strikeouts.

Advice: This was Contreras’ first start of the season and he was stretched out to 61 pitches after not topping 50 yet this season. Working as a starter, he leaned far more on his slider than he had in his relief appearances and threw it more often than his fastball. Contreras used that slider as his primary pitch often last season in Pittsburgh as his fastball effectiveness waned. That fastball still isn’t great and he had trouble putting hitters away, as he seemingly always has. Rotoworld 14 minutes ago
